BSR thought that things were going well on Zarathrustra. They should know better by now, don’t you think? One thing leads to another, as Bob and the crew do their best to straighten things out. Ride along, with the ships of BSR as they try to keep their world safe.
I’m a house husband. I keep things together while my wonderful wife makes our living. I’ve worked as a machinist, short order cook, electronics assembly tech, and several other jobs. My hobbies include vehicle maintenance, (I’ve had the transmission out of my truck. Twice) free flight airplanes, electronics, and shooting. I was born and raised in the Ozarks, and now live in Mid-Missouri.
This book was not as clever, funny, nor emotionally involving as previous volumes. At least the repetitious and inelegant "dug in" for "started eating" has been eliminated. The story was still pretty good. Nevertheless, I haven't lost interest in the series, despite having read all 45 previous books. There are bound to be some ups and downs over so many books. There are teasers that have me watching for the next book, like Bob's enhanced physical skills. All in all, I'll keep reading and enjoying this series for as long as Mr. boyd keeps writing them.
This doesn't feel like so many series do nowadays. An author has a successful book, then decides to capitalize on it by quickly writing unplanned sequel after sequel with no reward for main characters. The Jet series is a perfect example. By contrast, Bob, Nikki, their familiy and friends, all have lives to lead and chapters get resolved. Squatch get freed, grandchildren are born, colonies grow and thrive, etc. That's what makes this series special. Characters grow, and readers come to know them and love them. The gags get old and are re-used too much, but I've come to realize that's true in all families. What I had originally come to find annoying, has become almost endearing. My only quibble is that the aliens are too terrestrial, being either overtly humanoid, or looking they evolved from Earth animals. I'm starting to wish for companion series. Tales from the Academy. The series from the point-of-view of the U.S. President. Adventure's on Charlie's. Short stories from the Slongum feud timeline. Short stories of some of those marooned. Many etc. Perhaps Mr. Boyd could bring in partners to explore these other POVs in different voices.
I haven’t been reading much science fiction about space lately. I saw a suggestion for Book one and got hooked. I’ve been reading them constantly since and just finished Book 46. The characters are well developed and the interactions between them are so believable. Lol, this series has comedy, drama and everything in between. I can’t say enough about how this series has its hooks in me! Waiting for the next book. ..hopefully soon to be released!
It may be impossible to read too much about Bob's Saucer Repair.
The adventures of BSR are always worth the time spent reading about them. This book pulled me right in and kept me turning pages until the end. I even became emotionally involved at one point and had to dry my eyes to continue. Another great adventure from Jerry Boyd.
Better stories Jerry has written. No paragraphs to jump to get through the page and back to the action. The Explosion on Zarathrustra was a good touch. And caused even more related action to keep the story going. Thank You Jerry for this most Excellent Story! Definitely a good addition to the series.
This one was just a bit less connected than previous installments, though the characters and situations are much the same, the overall storylines in this installment felt less relevant than previous books. It ends as the actions complete, with some issues yet to be resolved in the next installment.
I enjoy these books, although I do get frustrated while reading. They are too long to read straight through, but there are no obvious stopping points (i.e. chapters). When I next pick it up, I have to find where I left off, then back up a bit to refresh my memory before I can resume.
This episode was a bit more tense and dramatic than most of the rest of the books. Mainly because it dealt with a topic that would impact all of us. BUT, it was just as exciting as the previous episodes, and just as enjoyable to read!
I have read all books in this series and have enjoyed them very much. Book 46 was different in some ways but in a good follow on of all the others in this series. This book almost looks like a start in a new story direction that I for one am looking forward to. Now Jerry must get the next one out soon. Thank you Jerry for another fine story.
Grandson calls mom, my daughter, daughter comes to visit me and I'm started recommending your book. She laughs and say I'm on #21 and your grandson recommended the books. So, three states, lots of years between us and it's a fan favorite of all of us. Thanks, Jerry for writing such entertaining books.
Another great book in this series. In this one, we see Bob and the BSR company, trying to make their new planet Zarathustra livable. In the process they find some really dangerous stuff having to do with time travel. It's a fun book. To really get the gist of this series, go back and find Bob's Saucer Repair and join the fun.
Lots of routine with moments of massive excitement...
The daily routine is getting pretty boilerplate, but it's part of the heartbeat of the series. The moments of extreme action are heightened by being surrounded by common daily activity. The installment feels like a bridge between more substantial problem issues in play. Still a worthwhile read... easy to enjoy.
Well worth the wait, Jerry. Great interactions with the characters. Good scenery descriptions and hardware descriptions. I look forward to the next installment. Thank you for this wonderful series.
Bring a big fan of all things that go boom, I especially enjoyed this book. BSR makes bigger booms than the Mythbusters, and that's going some! Way to go! Now I'm back to waiting for the next one... sigh...
Time travel is explored in a family friendly showcase. There were lots of conversations about the cons. Jerry Boyd’s style advances the plots thru conversations which I like. This book ends with wanting more. I can hardly wait to buy the next.
I love these stories of Bob and Nikki but I can wait four the next one and thanks for writing them Jerry Boyd! 🤗 I would hug you but my arms are too short to reach you! Thanks for the info on your new series too.
Another excellent book. I will be reading this one again. The storyline is intriguing and makes it hard to put the book down. It will be hard to wait for the next book.
Well well well . . never thought I'd experience this. This book ended not mid chapter or mid sentence but simply at "the End". Great improvement Mr. Boyd! 😉.
I totally enjoy this series. I love rage characters and stories. I’m so glad Jerry doesn’t make us have to wait too long between episodes. Great planning on his part. Bring them on, dude!
The story goes on! Tom's racing ahead is a fun evolution of the family. I remember being stuck on Doc Savage for quite a while. I remember being young and taking the sleeping tonic Bob and Nicki use.
So many little bits that come together to make a story. The plot and the people go together very well with the banter and the technology. Without the bots it would not be possible though.
Enjoyed this book 46, just as much as all the others. Your characters are always interesting and unique. I just keep watching for your next book drops so that I can read it. Jerry, thanks for the interesting reads and fun.
WOW! This is a real cliffhanger of a story. Big quaking story. Having grown up in Hawai’i I felt some of this. Excellent story telling with great cohesiveness of story line. Already got the next one!
These books are fun. The stories are great. The humor is sometimes silly. I am so glad I started this series. (Back at book 1 of 10, I think.) I need this kind of fun in my life.
These last few books have been a little more serious than the other books in the series. But there's still some comic relief in there. I guess we'll find out if all of this time travel stuff is been taking care of.
Nothing like having an AI trying to do time travel to mess up your day. Stopping it makes a big boom, but Bob handles big booms well. Then back to Charlie’s to see the granddaughter.
The kids are growing up super fast even the baby is talking and reading already. The Admiral's Dog has learned Morse Code and they get to see a stargate. Plenty of action in this one. Really enjoyed it!
