Asher's Assignment

Rate this book
Asher didn’t do fieldwork. He left that part of bodyguard work to the others. He liked his lair with its wall of screens, private servers, and high-speed internet connection. There, he could be the information gatherer extraordinaire that he was.

But when a pregnant Edie comes to him, worried about her sister, Esther, he steps out from behind the screens and heads to Oregon, wanting to keep Edie’s stress levels low. He figures he can install some cameras, do a little investigating and prove to her that she’s worried over nothing. Simple, quick, and clean.

Except he doesn’t count on falling for the smart, soft-hearted kindergarten teacher. Or the fact that he’s now the one in danger.

Wow, what a terrific read!

This book has so much going on! There's a love story, an old double homicide with a missing person of interest, and the kidnapping of a young girl who has had a heart transplant and needs her anti-rejection drugs to survive.

Esther Campbell is a kindergarten teacher who is also the tutor for Leah, a ten-year-old heart transplant recipient. She's unable to attend school because she's immunocompromised. Esther enjoys being with Leah, but she lives in a very rundown section of town, and Esther finds Leah's father, Rob, to be very creepy. She's also never met Connie, Leah's mother, despite being in the home regularly. Connie is always either at work, sleeping, or ill and staying in the bedroom. Leah often speaks about her mother, so Esther does believe she does exist. Esther starts noticing a man in a hoodie in the area of the house. She can't believe it when she begins noticing a similar man in a hoodie around her home.

Esther's older sister, Edie, is worried about her. She convinces Asher to go to and watch over Esther and do more digging about Leah's family. Edie lives in Costa Rica, and when Asher uncovers some disturbing information about Leah's family, he agrees to go to Oregon and perhaps install some security devices for Esther.

Asher is part of the Wagner Brigade, but he's not a field agent; he's their computer wizard. It's time for the Wagner Brigade to spring into action and go to Oregon. But while on a fishing trip, the men all came down with bad cases of the flu. It's time for their ladies to spring into action!

It's Leah's birthday, and she's excited that her parents are taking her to her favorite Chinese restaurant. Esther had baked her a birthday cake, and Asher dressed up in an inflatable unicorn costume to provide the entertainment. For the first time, she noticed a much softer side to Rob. Asher was putting things in the back of Esther's car when someone attacked him, knocking him out with a blow to the back of his head, and is kidnapped. When he woke up, he was alone in what appeared to be a basement. Only he wasn't alone, Leah was there, too. As Leah's family was leaving the Chinese restaurant, a man snatched her and shot Rob when he pursued the kidnapper.

They discover more about Connie. She was a person of interest in the murders of her parents. Although she got away, it was thought she died of her injuries despite her body never being found. It's beginning to look as if someone from her past, someone she's scared of, is back...

When Esther is kidnapped by the same man as Leah, the entire mystery starts to unfold. When the kidnapper decides that Asher is expendable, Esther takes a bullet meant for him. Now Asher must unravel the case and bring the criminal to justice.

It's time to claim the woman he loves!

I read this as a stand-alone so I did not know the other characters as well as those who have read the full collection. Asher’s assignment was full of plot twists and chilling shocks whilst watching love blossom. A very good read.

Asher Horn is a former CIA analyst and a member of the Wagner Brigade in Costa Rica. He is never out in the field, but controls the intel for the team from his vast array of computers, his lair. Teacher Esther Campbell has been tutoring a student in the student’s home and has felt uncomfortable in the area. She had noticed a man watching the house, but when the same man is outside her house, she is deeply concerned. She mentions this to her sister, Edie, who is involved with the Wagner Brigade. Edie is concerned for her sisters’ safety and Asher offers to visit to assess the situation. He had felt an attraction to Essy, but now spending time with her, he believes that she just might return those feelings. Something unknown about the student’s mother’s past has put Essy and Asher at risk and he is missing. Edie, along with other female team members from Costa Rica, arrive to search for him as well as protect Essy. The threat to Essy is not over and Asher is more than ever determined to find the man responsible, take him down and have a chance at a life with Essy…she is his home. I so enjoyed the interaction between and the “in charge” attitude of the visiting female team! What a blast! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. - Romantic suspense
- Protector vibes
- Found family

This book was such a page turner! I did not want to put this down! I have read and enjoyed the other stories in the Wagner Brigade series, but this one now ranks as my favorite!

When kindergarten teacher Esther starts to get weird vibes from the father of a student she is tutoring, she mentions it to her sister, Edie. After seeing a hooded man at both the student's house as well as her own, Edie goes to tech expert Asher for help. He heads to Esther's to set up some security. The two had met before and have been wildly attracted to one another, but with Asher living in Costa Rica and Esther in Oregon, they never acted on it.

He's not a field agent, but he is tracking down some leads. Amidst the investigation, Esther and Asher decide to give in to their feelings. He is surprised how quickly his feelings grow. But when things escalate and Asher is missing, Esther calls in the brigade. Unfortunately, the men all have the flu, so the ladies make the journey to help! These ladies are so entertaining and supremely capable of filling in as protectors.

I am so happy these two communicated their feelings and took a chance on love.

A veritable mishmash of everything in this great book by Ashley A Quinn. When Asher gets a visit from an heavily pregnant lady , worried about her sister , he makes an exception to his rule . He came out from behind his tv screens and heads with her to Oregon. What he expected was a simple quick and out though was the wrong shout . And he didn’t bank on falling …hard for kindergarten teacher…Esther Campbell frequents her ten year old pupil who is too sick to go to school and although the chil speaks of her mother , Esther hasn’t set eyes on her , there’s always some excuse as to why she can’t leave her bedroom to greet the teacher. She thinks this is odd but what is strange is an hooded figure she’s seen around the girl’s home she now sees outside her own. Her sister Asher fetched Asher to investigate…This book is freaking brilliant! There’s lots going on and it’s gripping and chilling as well as thrilling . I can’t praise this book enough. The writing is sublime , its edge of your seat immersive and teeth gritting intense. Immense pleasure from this amazing book . Great storytelling and awesome characters too.

What an absolutely fantastic story, I have read the whole series so far and I love how each story has characters from previous books and the interaction between all of the team is fantastic. When Esther has a tutoring job she she is a little worried about the father of the child that she is tutoring after she has had a transplant and she talks to her sister in Costa Rica and Edie is concerned about Esther safety so she talks to Asher, and he decides that he is going to go to stay with Esther to protect her. There is danger and someone stalking Esther and then Asher is taken as well as the little girl Leah and then they are threatened, Esther is injured when they are attempting to rescue Asher and Leah. It’s full on action from start to finish and of course there is a happy ending for this loving couple. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I wasn’t able to put the book down until the very last page, and even then I was still wanting more.

I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and I am reviewing with my honest and fair opinion.

She is a kindergarten teacher, with a bad ass ex military sister. When some troubling things start happening her sister sends him to check things out. He is part of a group of friends with highly specialized skills. He goes to check things out and make sure his friend's sister is safe. This is a slow burn. They both have attraction for each other, but don't jump into anything. the story features an adventure/mystery storyline arc which I would say is even more central than the romance. While there is a decent amount of time invested into character development, this is more a storyline driven book than character driven. The romance feels secondary to unraveling the mystery. If you are looking for hot spicy passion and romance this is not the story for you. This is a sweet romance in the midst of the mystery plot. It was a good story and the characters engaging. However if you are looking for that straight shot of romance...this is not that.

Esther tells her sister she is feeling a bit uncomfortable in a work situation. Her sister asks her friend Asher, a computer genius to look in to things for her and what he finds sends him to Esther’s side.

There was chemistry there from when they met on her trips to visit her sister and the more time they spend together to stronger the attraction and feelings become.

It turns out Esther’s instincts were right and things escalate and put Asher and Esther in danger.

They fell really hard and quickly and events only made them more sure of what they wanted and that was each other.

There was a nice little twist with the help they received in the investigation. It was nice to see previous characters again.

There was a little bit of heat, a lot of love (and a bit of religion as well).

I really enjoyed this book in the Wagner Brigrade Series. Asher is the go to guy for all things in tech. Need to find a bad guy on the dark web, he's your guy. WHile he has spent time with rest of the team and managed to find muscles he didn't know he had, he's not skilled inthe art of combat, unless you have a keyboard.

When Edie talks to he sister, Esther and worries she has found a stalker, she's ready to go to her rescue. But minor problem, she's just discovered she's pregnant. So Asher volunteers to go investigate the situation, since veryone else is otherwise engaged.

This book kept my interest and I had trouble putting it down. All I will say, as I don't want to spoil the book for anyone..women are always the damsal's in distress. They can be mighty warriors!

Sexy nerd, kindergarten teacher who also tutors a child who had a heart transplant, sketchy neighborhood, danger, mystery. I have to admit I was sold at sexy nerd, and I just loved Asher and Esther's story. After Esther sees a hooded man not only at her student's house but also outside her house, her sister Edie sends Asher to investigate what is happening. Of course, she also hopes for a love connection between Asher and Esther.

There's plenty of action as the story progresses as well as the growing relationship between Asher and Esther. It was great to see the female partners of the Wagner Brigade take the forefront in this story, and I also liked the Detective Stroud character. The team is a force to be reckoned with, including Asher who finally had Stroud turning to him for help. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next in the series.

Asher's Assignment by Ashley Quinn is the fifth book in The Wagner Brigade Series. Although this is a series, these books can be enjoyed as standalone novels. Each one focuses on a different couple's story, so you are only missing a little bit of the back story on the supporting characters.

Asher and Esther have known each other for a while, but when Esther's sister, Edie, asks Asher to help her sister with some strange happenings, they both start to feel a deeper connection and once they do, the sparks fly.

This is a quick and easy read that will leave your heart full. The connection between Asher and Esther is palpable, and you find yourself rooting for their happily ever after. This is a perfect blend of mystery, spice, and romance. Loved it!

Wow loved this! Girl power and action packed!

When Edie's sister Esther was having security troubles, Edie asked Asher to look into helping her.

I loved that the girls all came to the rescue when all the guys got sick. It was great to see how fierce and protective they all were.

But it was the unfailing chemistry and the protective stance they both had for each other that made this book for me. Esther was stubborn but not overly so but definitely a great match for Asher.

Very well done. Brilliant series and an amazing spread of characters. Great book!!.

Asher didn't do fieldwork like his friends of the Wagner Brigade. However, when Esther needs help solving a mystery, he doesn't hesitate to hop a plane and rush to her side. They have been attracted to each other for years, but the logistics of getting to know each other better is daunting, due to how far apart they live. Asher and Esther are baffled about what is going on with Esther's private tutoring job. With Asher's computer skills helping the police, they soon have a handle on the mystery. Will they live to catch the perp and get their HEA? Asher's Assignment is another satisfying romantic suspense from Ashley A. Quinn.

Asher’s Assignment by Ashley Quinn is the fifth book in the Wagner brigade series. Although you can read it as a standalone I would recommend to read the other books first because of the reappearing characters and because they are all awesome!
Asher normally doesn’t do fieldwork he is the tech guy but when he is asked by Edie to help her sister Esther he agrees to find out what is happening.
I absolutely loved this book!
The plot is intriguing with lots of twists and turns!
Awesome characters and I loved the romance part!
Highly recommended for anyone who loves a good read!
I received this arc from the author and this review is my honest opinion

Asher’s Assignment is hotness and sweetness and suspenseful action with an intriguing mystery and seriously great plot twists. Asher has been my secret crush since this series began—nothing hotter than a sexy brainiac—and his story was beyond amazing! Esther is truly his perfect match, and watching these two dance around each other and their feelings as they unravel the mysterious happenings in Esther’s life is so much fun! With a fast-paced and action-packed plot, I dove headfirst into this story and couldn’t put it down until the very last word. This is a must read!!!

(4.5) Kudos to the author for providing a book that delivered all the information needed to read and enjoy as a stand alone and entice you at the same time to go read the others! Love having a teacher as the strong, compassionate, stubborn heroine and the alpha as the IT guru. There were some great red herrings and twists, with a horrible stalker and a articulate loveable girl, all layered with the Wagner Brigade ladies. Thank you for the opportunity to read early! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. #AshersAssignment #TheWagnerBrigade #AshkeyAQuinn #TCAPublishing #Booksprout

Asher is asked by Esther’s sister to investigate a possible stalker but there is so much more going on which puts them both in danger. The storyline is engrossing and even if you have not read the others in this series, it in no way detracts from the story which can absolutely be read as a standalone. Asher is utterly charming and brilliant, Esther is feisty and loves her job, and the ladies of the Wagner Brigade are badass. I do enjoy this author’s writing of romantic suspense very much.

I was so engrossed in the story I could hardly put the book down. I am totally blaming Ashley Quinn for my recent lack of sleep. 😉Her latest release, Asher's Assignment has heart, heat, angst, and suspense. I was at the edge of my seat, rooting for Esther, Asher and the Lady Brigade the ENTIRE time! This is a wonderful love story between a kindergarten teacher and a computer whiz of great intellect. If you enjoy stories with bad-ass female characters, get this book you will not be disappointed.

Asher might be the desk jockey of the team, but when it comes to saving his new love he steps up to the plate, and shows he can protect with the best of them. Esther might be determined she can manage alone however, soon comes to realise she needs Asher for more than protection.
A nice romance with a twist to the usual team backup and a great storyline. You can’t help but love The Wagner Brigade guys and their partners, and so looking forward to Max’s story.

She's a teacher who loves her kids and even gets a tutoring job after school sessions to help a little girl who has had heart surgery. Throw in a overprotective sister , a creepy mystery person , Asher "(who is part of her sister's team") coming to protect you, and you've got a story worth staying up all night for.

In this story first of all we learn that Asher is not just a pretty face and computer genius! He comes to help out Esther when things get a little "hairy" for her. There are a few twists and turns as well as unexpected moments. Just like when all the "Brigade" get sick and the women come to the rescue when Asher gets kidnapped.

This is another book in the series that is AMAZING! I would recommend reading the books in order as they will make the story complete!

The tables turned & the ladies ruled! I really enjoyed this book & how the characters stayed true. Asher is cute & smart but had limits which was shown nicely. Esther is strong & fierce and when the ladies gather, oh boy what fun! They had me laughing & enjoying their bravery. An excellent read full of fun & emotions. Honest review.

This was one of my favorite romantic suspense books! The chemistry was awesome without being lustful! The suspense was fantastic and had me biting my nails! Took a few unexpected turns and I got nothing done all day because I was turning pages as quickly as I could! Loved every second of this book! Would give it more stars if I could!

Who would have thought a kindergarten teacher and an IT person would hit it off so well! Ashley Quinn did not disappoint with Asher and Esther!

Extremely well written book. This is the sixth book in the Wagner Brigade series. Each book gets better than the last and will not disappoint. Edie, pregnant and terrified for her sister goes to Asher to get help. The two are put though everything to try to save Edie's sister. Does not disappoint.
