3.5 star review from The Blogger Girls.
This is a first read for me by this author, and it was quite enjoyable. It is basically one long scene though, and I was really hoping for more. Drew has a pretty stressful job, and he relies on his sessions with his dom and boyfriend, Kane, to distress him. Unfortunately, Kane has been a bit too busy with his own job to really give Drew the attention he needs. He has been lax in communicating his needs to Kane and eventually takes matters into his own hands.
When Kane walks in on Drew taking care of himself, he quickly takes charge attempting to force Drew’s hand in explaining his needs. Drew is quite stubborn though, and Kane pretty quickly runs out of patience with the lack of communication on Drew’s part.
If you are fairly new to BDSM stories, I think you’ll really like this one. A lot of the elements are very well done. Drew continues to push for more, and Kane does his best to deliver, but he makes sure he is giving it for the right reasons. These guys definitely had a connection, and it was easy to see they cared and wanted to have the other fill their needs.
This was a quick, one-sitting read that just flew by. I think I would have enjoyed learning more about these guys and their relationship out of their scene, which was pretty heavy, though not enough to be cringe worthy in any sense. There is some flogging/spanking and even a hot wax scene to look forward to. I was glad I gave this one a try and will definitely be looking for more from Ms. Lane in the future.

I also wrote this review on Amazon as Lee M. This is a new-to-me author. And I sure hope she writes more in the m/m genre!
Basically this story is just a peek into the lives of Drew (sub) and his Sir, Kane. Drew has to be in charge at his very stressful job and the D/s relationship with Kane helps to keep him balanced and grounded and able to do his job well. The author does a wonderful job in letting us see that they have a very loving relationship as well as a D/s relationship. I truly love these types of BDSM stories because you can connect with the characters so much more and the storyline and scenes are that much more intense.
So this story is about Drew is feeling like Kane is so stressed at his job that he just can't give him the domination he's needing at this moment in time. He feels like he will be more of a burden to Kane and make him feel guilty so he doesn't share this feeling. But his inner brat kind of takes over and he decides to take his pleasure into his own hands - which is a no no in their relationship. Of course he gets caught....which he wanted to really....and the scene is quite intense from there. I won't give any details away....but I loved the mix of some very HOT m/m action and very SWEET loving. I hope for more from this author! And I wouldn't mind a longer story involving these two yummy guys either!!! ;)

I do wish that I would learn and stop reading short stories. I am almost always left feeling the same way. I don't get to learn enough about anything and then I end up wishing for more or wishing I hadn't bothered. At least with this one it was wishing for more.
A quick little short with two very interesting leads. If Nese Lane ever wrote a full length story about these two, I would be all over it.

This story was recommended to me by a good friend. A new to me author, Nese Lane tells a tender, yet HOT story about Drew and Kane and their needs. Drew is a sub and needs Kane to Dominate him to relieve his stress. Kane doesn't realize that his busy schedule has affected Drew so much.

Double Review!
Crystal Marie's Review:
This book is going one that has a mixed rating for me. On one hand, the smut factor of the book was off the charts (as you will read later on in the review), but on the other hand, the storyline itself was a bit off to me personally. Overall the story was interesting, and I really felt like it could have been expanded upon a bit more than it was. At times, it felt like it was just a scene out of a full length book, instead of a story of its own.
But onto the smut! Holy wowzer! There are some scenes that do take place during the story that were just amazingly hot. If you are looking for a quick smutty read, then you should really check this one out! One thing about that that I did enjoy was there was one certain scene that you don’t really read about a lot in books. And taking that into fact, I think that the author did a great job writing it.
The characters themselves could have used a bit more development but for a smut read, I think it was done extremely well. There was some hints near the end of the book that made me think that there will be more from this couple in the future, and I can say that if that is the case, I will be sure to check them out when that happens.
If I was rating this book solely on the smut factor, it would be a 5 star read from me.
For the plot/storyline factor, it would be a 2 star read.
So my overall rating is a 3 star.

I had a difficult time connecting with this book and the two main characters involved. It was clear from page one that Drew was the submissive in his relationship to Kane and he needed the pain and daily involvement with Kane to survive even his professional life.
The story starts that Drew is not able to function because Kane had been busy with his job and hadn’t been with Drew for five weeks. Instead of talking to Kane, Drew decided to be a brat submissive and take matters into his own hands. When Kane walks in to find Drew satisfying himself, Kane was upset because Drew had blatantly broken the rules and now he must be punished.
The rest of this short story was Kane trying to get Drew to tell him what was wrong. With all of the punishment Kane gave, Drew soaked it in and continued to keep his secret from his Dom. Finally after more breaking rules and punishments, Drew tells Kane he feels neglected and they end up making promises and having sex.
Okay, my biggest issue was who hasn’t felt this way in a relationship and since when do we go to such levels of being a brat to make our point? While I could connect with the fact of feeling neglected while my spouse was working hard at his job, I couldn’t connect with trying to push him into making him do what he didn’t want to just so I could get some of his attention. The two characters talked about communication a lot in this book, yet what I saw was Drew trying to push Kane into doing something Kane didn’t want to do, and Kane trying to up the punishment enough that Drew would stop enjoying the pain and start talking. Just wasn’t my kind of story but the writing was well done and for a short story you were able to see the characters personalities. It just felt more like a scene from a novel than a complete story. I was left shaking my head wondering if this is how they handled all of their issues in the relationship.

Drew Chandler knows how to run his work life. He is feared in the boardroom. Now outside of work, Drew is a submissive who has trouble communicating with his Dom. He is losing focus at work but Drew does not want to burden his Dom when he works all the time.
Kane Devlin is Drew’s Dom. While Kane seemed to be a competent Dom, he does a good job with Drew. He gave him what he needs as well as wants. It was hard to get a good picture of him as a person outside of being a Dom and what he did for a living.
The chemistry between Kane and Drew is blistering. I found it easy to believe that Drew did not voice his problems and worries to Kane because Kane was working hard and did not have a lot of time to spare. The sex scenes were hot and steamy.
I found this story well written. The characters were appealing and realistic. The story just seemed to come alive between the pages. At 59 pages, this story has a well-defined beginning, middle and end. Overall, I enjoyed reading this story. I really hope we get to see these characters again in the future.

Great short story that explores an evening of passion and uncomfortable conversations leading to deepening understanding and commitment between two lovers in a D/s relationship. The story leaps off the pages with passion and love and the catalyst of frustration from not always getting what you anticipate in a relationship.

This is a seriously hot read. While the focus of this novelette is a scene between a sub (Drew) and his master (Kane), the author manages to provide enough information via the characters' thoughts and conversations with one another that the reader comes to quickly understand the dynamic of the relationship between these two men. This is not a "wham bam thank you man" sexual encounter, but rather an intense and very stimulating (fans self) scene between two men in a loving and committed relationship.
Ms. Lane has crafted a well written book and I look forward to reading more of her work ... a full-length novel about Drew and Kane would not be remiss (hint, hint).
