Jade and Alex met as children in the foster care system, overcoming obstacles and beating the many odds stacked against them. Over the years, people and life disappointed them. Yet, the one thing they could always count on was each other.

In Sickness and In Health is really tested in this book. Alex gets into an accident early in the book that leaves him temporarily bedridden for awhile and Jade becomes his caregiver. is injury brings out his worst and he takes is out on Jade and disrespects her in more ways than one. He has a woe is me mentality and blames God for what happened to him instead of leaning on him for strength to get back to his self. It's not until Jade is unable to care for him due to her own ailments that he realizes he has been taken her and the marriage for granted and basically has to fight to show her that she can trust him again.
Jade has to talk to God more and have faith for the both of them so that they can get through this trying time together with their marriage in tact. Not many people can be a caregiver and the way that Alex was behaving he drove almost everyone away but Mrs. Cora's character in this book was more than a caregiver to him she was like the grandmother both him and Jade never had and just the kick in the butt that Alex needed to get himself together. I was happy that he took the steps on his own to get into therapy to get some serious help with what he was going through and I liked the way the story was wrapped up and came together at the end.

I could not wait for another release from Lakisha Johnson. She is a phenomenal author and her books live up to their purpose - they are ministry. Alex was more than a handful and there were multiple parts where he had me cracking up, then ready to get him. I'm so happy how the story ended and can't wait til the next one!!

Book 4 of a series
Loved this book but I really do love all of Mrs. Johnson's books. I don't consider myself the most Christiany Christian and I haven't been to church in years but I thoroughly enjoy the messages in her books. The scriptures and utilization of therapy outside of every black person's go to of "you don't need therapy, you need to go to church". She incorporates them both. Now to the story, I've been where Jade was as a caregiver for my husband and it strained our relationship so bad I contemplated leaving. But I stuck in through. You never really know how an accident or illness can affect a person but it doesn't just affect that person, it affects the caregiver as well. You don't get to rest and nobody ask how you're doing. Because you're doing what your vows said to do. Its a difficult situation to navigate but I'm happy things worked out for Alex & Jade. They turned something tragic that was meant to break them into something beautiful.

What A Rollercoaster!
Wow! This story was riveting! The events were very life-like, if you can call an event life-like! I was on the rollercoaster ride with Alex and Jade, and I held on because sometimes they seemed so real; I felt Jade’s frustration, betrayal, exhaustion, and just being sick and tired of being sick and tired. I thought Alex was a selfish jerk; however, as the story progressed, I began to feel sorry for him, not because he was deserving, but because he was lost and about to lose everything that was his life, because of fear. Fear can, indeed, paralyze a person. I was very glad with the resolution. This story reminds me that faith and trust in God can take a person through much turmoil and difficult problems and take you to the place God intended for you to be, but only in His time.
Ms. Johnson, thank you for a well-written, realistic fiction from which you readers can learn many lessons, and, hopefully, apply them to their lives.

Childhood friends Jade and Alex have been married for seven years, and stood beside each other thru thickness and thin. A sudden accident changes that when one has been assigned the task of caregiver to the other. While one is having a pity party, the other is holding on by a thread. But, faith in God, continuous prayer and unconditional love is the constant reminder of their original vows…in sickness and in health.
I loved this book, because it addresses a real issue. Will your spouse be there for you when you’re sick, either short or long term. Truth be told, many people can’t handle it and only want to focus on the good days…traveling, date nights, financial stability, etc. I’m learning so much in this series by @kishajohnson. I highly suggest that this series be included in premarital counseling.

Amazing
This was a great story...parts of it hit home. Men are notorious for not handling their personal trials well and act out as well as gaslight their wife into thinking it's their fault. It was amazing g to see this husband recognize his error against God and his wife. I loved how he turned it around, sought professional health as well as understood his need for a real relationship with God and not just a religion. So many times, people never really understand that God wants a relationship and He will wait for you to come to him when you're ready either on your own or when tragedy strikes. I'm on to forsaking all others...can't wait to see what I glean and learn from this story.

Worth the Wait 🔥
I have been waiting for this part of the marriage vows and it was definitely worth the wait. I love the realism of Alex and Jade’s story. For Alex it was dealing with a new reality/fate and not having a strong faith relationship with God. Therefore he mishandled his wife and others that tried to help him. As for Jade from a caregivers perspective you tend to focus so much on the one that you are caring for that you neglect caring for yourself. But I love the blessing in the end that brought them not only back together, but closer to God. Great job as always 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Oh wow! …our journey to eternity is a road with detours, blessings, adventures & wisdom all to the glory of God‼️ ”In Sickness and In Heath: What Did You Vow?” - book 4 was an excellent read. However, although Jade & Alex were fictional characters, their marriage, experiences, temptations, challenges and blessings were realistic with plausible life lessons to glean from (prayer, my bible & scriptures). Foremost, honor & humble ourselves before our spouse; live life to the fullest and with purpose (moment to moment); do not take our spouses for granted; likewise develop a willingness to forgive & apologize sincerely! Strive for & expect respect, peace, joy & love in your home always‼️

Testing Those Vows
The storyline was so real about how marriage vows can be tried especially in sickness. The story of Alex and Jade was a realistic look sat what do couples really expect when they take their vows. The challenges that the couple faced were not a stretch by any imagination. God put in place people who helped them navigate and were honest about the commitment you make in marriage. A great story by the author!

Lakisha Johnson you did it again. Wow this book was inspirational, dramatic lots of tears, prayers. When Alex had that accident it put him in a bad head space where he treat eveyone like enemy. Even his wife Jade . Long story short he recover walk again and in the time of recovery his wife was pregnant never knowing until she ended in ER. Wow lovely read.

After The Pain The Sun Will Shine
Lakisha, such a great read. It's real easy to fall.into a rut. Whenever there's something that shakes up the normal running everything turns crazy. When we are sick we sometimes forget how to keep our faith, it's easier to lass out instead of understanding what the care giver is going through. God will take care of all of us. I know it's easier said than done.🤗🤗🤗🤗

Oh my goodness this was so good, Lakisha Johnson has done it again.The first 3 books was so good but she knocked this one out of the box,I really felt sorry for Alex and mad at the same time because his wife was good to him through everything.Jade was good,Omar worked on him brought him back to his senses with God they had a beautiful marriage.

Another great one
The sermons in this story had me throwing dollars 💸💸💸 at the pew. I needed that stone thrown.
What if what we’re complaining about, tormenting us, fighting us, aggravating every nerve in our body will be what strengthens our faith? THAT PART! 💸💸💸. Whew I’ve been complaining about my thorn, praying it away, trying not to lose my mind.

A Realistic Portrait of Healing
This was a great conclusion to the What Did You Vow Series! It really showed how we can get lost and defined by our issues... and blind to our burdens. It really showed the importance of two active partners in a marriage no matter the storm and it reminds us that God places miracles in the midst of the storms!

This was by far the best book in the series. Finished it in two days. Alex lost sight of what God can do if you keep the faith. Jade did what she needed to do, but Alex didn't. Was totally surprised when it came out that she was pregnant. Totally enjoyed the whole series. Lakisha, continue doing what God has blessed you to do.

great read
It’s crazy how one day your life could be ‘perfect’ and in a split second everything is turned upside down. This story presents Alex and Jade’s fight to build and keep their faith and relationship. LInes that were crossed is met with forgiveness. Apologies are met with understanding and change!

As usual you killed it!
I still can’t decide which book I love the most out of the series yet since they’re all eye openers in their own ways. However, I wanted Jade to leave him so bad lmao but I’m glad they worked it out.
