Paul Hanson's life is anything but ideal, but it gets worse when he is burned in a house fire that kills his mother. In addition to dealing with the pain and suffering involved in recovery, he is also ostracized by his peers and is being questioned about the fire.
His life takes a turn for the better when he is taken in by Jack Turner and his wife, Jenny. Jack had suffered an unhappy childhood himself and knows that Paul is going through more than any thirteen-year-old should.
However, when the investigation turns bad for Paul, he must rely on Jack and Jenny to save him from an even worse fate.
Burning Twigs is a book about learning to accept who we are and finding the beauty that exists in every life.
So sad that this is the final book in this series but I have enjoyed this read immensely. Paul was a 14 year old boy who lived a horrendous life with a father that was abusive. His mother finally took both of them away from that abuse and settled in the town of Denton, Florida. But Paul was unhappy because his mother would not let him do anything with his friends I fear that Paul’s father would find them. Paul had planned to runaway but before that could happen his home was set on fire and sadly his mother was killed in the explosion and Paul was burned severely. As the story unfolds Jack Turner becomes involved as his temporary guardian along with his wife Jenny and his attorney. Please read this fantastic book and enjoy!
Fantastic story, so well written! Great conclusion to the Twigs series, I thoroughly enjoyed all of them. In our daily lives we sometimes misunderstand what we see and don't question the why or what, we come to a conclusion that is far from the real story, truth hides from us. I would recommend this book to those who like a mystery with a very positive ending!
I have read all the Twigs books and loved all of them. This latest addition to the series is another winner. I enjoy Mr. Tabb's writing and recommend this book. My highest compliment to a book is to read it twice. I plan on going back to the first book in the Twigs series and starting all over again.
At one point I actually stopped reading because it was such a great story, I didn’t want it to end. Awesome likable characters and they bring so much emotion. This is book 5 in the series and it’s up there with book 1 (floating twigs) as best in the series (they were all great tho). Love love love!
The novel tells the story of a 14-year old boy who is terribly scarred by a fire that killed his mother. It is eventually determined that the fire was arson, and worse, the boy is charged with the crime. The boy's attorney and his wife end up fostering the teenager. The man and wife are convinced that the boy did not do this crime.
I really like how the main character Jack ages, grows and matures through this series. If you read this series be sure to start with Floating Twigs. I appreciate how the Jack uses the pain of his childhood to reach out and help troubled youth. I highly recommend this whole series. It is excellent!
What a sad life a lot of kids live through. How wonderful that people like Jack and Jenny devote their lives to help these kids, mostly teenagers, find some happiness. Loved the happy ever after ending.
Thoroughly enjoyed book 5 of the Twigs series. I wont say this book is better than the others, it was good, just not AS good as the other 4 books. I enjoyed all of them. But this one, the writing seemed a bit juvenile. Nice, clean writing, no cussing.
This book was so meaningful expressing beauty and ugliness by our standards with real characters readers cab relate to A beautiful story about overcoming the ugly of life
I love this series. The storyline continues through the whole series. The characters are well described and written. Mr. Tabs is a wonderful story teller. I had to read the book straight through. I hope more books are coming. Thus is a great read.
I was sorry to learn that this is probably the last book in this series. I have enjoyed all of the stories and thought the author did a great job with the development of his young characters. I look forward to reading other books by Mr. Tabb.
This is one of those series that you don't want to end. I enjoyed every one of the 5 books in this series. I found myself barely able to hold back and not jump just a little ahead to see what the verdicts would be. Please write a book 6, 7, 8, etc. Great series.
Very much enjoyed the characters in this book as they brought out many emotions. Each character bringing either good or bad feelings. It keep you on edge wondering if the boy was really guilty or not.
I enjoyed reading this book. It shows how everything isn’t as it seems. The characters were really interesting and Jack & Jenny are great! I would recommend this book to everyone!
I've enjoyed this series. I missed one and need to read it soon. The story pulls you in quickly. The characters are interesting but some of the situations are a little hard. The Twiggs series inspire us to be better people and more understanding about others situations.
A murder mystery I loved this book. You are not sure "Who dunn it".you think you know then more evidence comes up and you have to revise your ideas again.
