All eyes are on J. J. Parks. The only officer among four women in one of the first co-ed classes of BUD/S, the legendary Navy SEALs training course. And she is determined to defy the odds and shatter stereotypes to earn her place among the elite warriors of the US military.
As J. J. faces grueling physical challenges and the relentless scrutiny of those who doubt her every move, one adversary stands out—a formidable instructor determined to see her fail. With each obstacle thrown in her path, he becomes her greatest challenge. And fiercest motivator.
Fueled by passion and one woman’s drive to prove herself in the hallowed halls of the Navy SEALs, Refuse to Quit is an inspiring testament to the power of perseverance and the indomitable spirit of the human soul, delivering a rollercoaster ride of adrenaline-fueled action and heart-pounding suspense that will leave you breathless and cheering for triumph against all odds.
Brandon Webb is a seal who dares to believe in a future where women break through into special operations. Although this is a work of fiction, I don’t think it is far from becoming reality.
My one major complaint is that the romance between Parks and Hardin felt forced and unnecessary. It was also alluded that Parks fraternized with an enlisted sailor and then that was never touched on again? I find it difficult to believe that a Naval Academy grad with sights to become the first female navy seal would throw her carrier away to fraternize with an enlisted sailor. Many people think women have no place in combat as they would be “distractions” to men, and the pointless romance subplot just adds fuel to the fire.
I appreciated the fact that two women graduated in the BUD/S class. I think it speaks to the importance of teamwork in special operations as Olga and Parks worked together to achieve what is thought to be impossible.
