King Arthur rises from the dead to a realm he suspects is Avalon, only to discover that he has awoken instead to a post-apocalyptic England ravaged by zombies. While hunted by the dead, Arthur is rescued by a mysterious savior who leads him to an old friend who holds the clues to Arthur's presence in this futuristic world.
David R. Flores is a writer-illustrator originally from New York. His debut novel, "Control; Alt; Delete: Dr. Stundel's Program To Reboot Your Dangerous Teen" was adapted from his award-winning screenplay. Along with co-creating "The InSpectres," David created and illustrated "Dead Future King," published by Golden Apple Books. Presently, he's co-writing and illustrating another graphic novel with his writing partner, Jarod Hunter Roe. David loves art, comics, films, music (particularly the electric bass), and most of all being a husband and a father.
Well, it's a very novel concept; King Arthur returns from the dead to fight zombies... It actually plays out a lot better than it sounds, and the art is nice in a bleak way. This first issue does a good job setting it up the story, recounting Arthur's history and introducing him to the new situation, with a few new characters and returned ones from his past. Not a bad first issue.
I'm stoked to check out this book from my old homie, David Flores. He was always a great artist and musician, I'm very glad to see he's still using his creative skills. I'll follow up with my review.
