Book Review 📚Get in My Swamp by GM Fairy Ogres, Humans, swamps an outhouse… potions gone wrong sound familiar? I hope it does 😂 GM Fairy’s Get in My Swamp is a hilarious and spicy 🍆🌶️ retelling of my favourite beloved Shrek tale, with a twist that had me cackling and blushing at the same time. In this laugh-out-loud let’s be honest porn parody, Shrek becomes Beck, Fiona transforms into Liona, and even the author herself makes an appearance as the sassy sex club owner Fairy Godmother. Fairy’s pen name alone is an excellent example of the sharp wordplay that flows throughout the book, perfectly setting the tone for this masterpiece that should be on every book lovers shelf.
One of the highlights of Get in My Swamp is the seamless blend of humor and green chilli heat. The spice is dialed up to perfection, with the story taking place in a magical, kink-friendly community that feels both whimsical and delightfully naughty. The characters bring plenty of charm to the table, with some moments that are as magical as they are steamy 😮💨
Fairy also doesn’t shy away from adding her signature brand of absurdity. Donkey, reimagined as a centaur, gets punched in the face, and it’s pure comedic gold. Every scene feels like a wink to the reader, with unexpected twists that keep you both laughing and wanting more.
FYI this is a trilogy wrapped into one delightful package, offering three books in one that keep the laughs and spice coming. The first two books focus on Beck and Liona, where the chemistry between these two characters drives the plot. The third book takes a shift, introducing Winston and Marigold, whose stories are centered around their unique curses.
Overall, Get in My Swamp is a must-read for fans of parody, humor, and spice. GM Fairy has delivered a fresh take on a familiar story, with enough magic and mischief to make it unforgettable now get on my shelf where you belong for the rest of your days!
Thanks to the author for this ARC copy through Book Sirens ⭐️3.75 I enjoyed these books, not read monster romance before, but it was good. The characters were loveable and the smut was definitely there. It’s not a literary masterpiece so don’t expect it to have intricate world building etc but as a take it at face value read, I really liked them.
I think this could have been a better book. It's Shrek like but not Shrek. A LOT of similarities but still different. I think the story plot the author went with was good and twist on things. But I felt like somethings could have been explained a little better or could have used more writing. Some parts to me just felt rushed. Like the main characters just all of a sudden like each other and within no time they're already jumping each other's bones and they can't stay off each other ....at all to where I think some parts didn't make sense. But it was a cute read.
