Gaius grew up free from the brutal imposition of the Roman Empire and its ruthless Legions. However, one day all of that changed. On one unfortunate day, the Legion appeared as it cut a wide swath of destruction through Gaius’s village and surrounding countryside. No one was spared. No one was wise enough to escape when or if they could. Some died trying while others were subdued or even raped. Others were forced into slavery. No one was immune to the might and unrelenting control of the Legion. Filled with rage and an overwhelming desire for revenge, Gaius was prepared to avenge not only his captivity but that of his parents as well. That would have remained Gaius’s mindset if fate hadn’t intervened and provided a means of escape. But with that was awakened a world well beyond his imagination or that of the transcendent. Gaius, however, would have no idea where fate had led him or the journey he was about to undertake—something that would change his life forever. And change it did in ways he could have never imagined let alone thought was possible.
