The church of marx at work. Written in 1978 and the very first phrase in the book is
> That the welfare state in Britain is in a condition of profound crisis is no longer to be seriously questioned.
A broken system fueled by a money hole, needed by so many bureaucrats, both political and academic, for their very existence.
Compared with other books written in the same spirit, at about the same time and on the same subject, this one has the merit to admit its Marxism. It's also funny to notice, that although the socialism is a blend and continuation of various christian sects, the marxists internalize the perpetual revolution bringing this to the state, no matter the name of the country. In 2017 every country I know is in a state of constant reform which is magically not a need to dismantle a broken system, but a sign from god to pour more money.
A small correction for the uninitiated: Capitalism is the equivalent of "land of the unbelievers" in the Abrahamic religions. Britain is a very socialist state in which education, higher education, medicine, public transportation, etc are built on communist principles, meaning even people who do not use the said systems are paying them, even if they are blocked from using them. Britain is Capitalistic in the sense that it still has some changes before comparing with Stalin's Soviet Union or Mao's China.
