From art and architecture, to politics and propaganda, this is a unique and accessible guide to the civlizaton that shaped the world as it is today. Readers will gain new insights into the Greek past, its people, its psychology and its society - and they will feel encouraged and confident to visit Greece themselves or to read its most important texts.
Another book read in anticipation of my next OU module. (Based on a recommendation from a student who'd completed A219.) It started well but there is a fine line between accessible and condescending which this book seems to waver over.
