This dyslexia-friendly story is aimed at reluctant readers in their mid-teens and older. There is some violence and adult content with some of the characters dying in battle. There is also a strong manga feel to the book, even though it's set in 16th century Japan.
It tells the story of Taka, a ninja-in-training and his battle to save his village from Lord Oda and his samurai army. There is plenty of action and the plot moves along quickly. The characters are dynamic and have clear motivations.
