Drake made a growling noise in his throat and took off again to the other side of the roadway. No other cars came and certainly not Talon’s convertible, even though he wished so hard that it would come charging to the rescue over the breast of the hill. He plunged into the hedgerow and into the trees. A bullet thudded into a trunk next to his ear, the spray of bark blinding him and causing him to stumble and trip. He turned his body instinctively to take it into a roll, but his shoulder didn’t hit the ground first, his back and arms did and then he realized he was tumbling, down and down, over and over. Disorientation, twigs and brambles, thorns tearing at his clothes, grunting every time he hit the ground hard, blind, his eyes streaming. Finally coming to a lurching stop on his side gasping and hurting. He heard another shout from above, more distinct this time “Find him, he can’t be allowed to get away – we need him!”

The Author

D. W. Towle is the author of numerous novels, including five novels in the Knight Mysteries Series and one book in The Dead Chronicles series, Outbreak, which has become one of his best selling novels. Towle's novels are published in multiple languages around the world with different version of each copy in print.

The son of a computer repairman and a crossing guard, Towle was raised on good values that taught him to appreciate what he had and not what he wanted which is where he developed a fascination with the mystery and sci-fi genres. These themes eventually formed the backdrop for his books. He is a graduate of Urban Hope Business School and is currently attending Globe University for Business & Marketing, as well as focusing his attention full time to writing.

He is educated in graphic design, website creation, digital cinema and creative writing from Full Sail University and Forensic Science from Fox Valley Technical College. Towle also is a co-founder in two paranormal organizations, WISPR (Wisconsin Society for Paranormal Research) and SPACE (Supernatural Paranormal And Close Encounters.

He is also the founder of one of the original Wizard Rock bands named Cruciatus Curse, as well as a successful composer and lyricist for the band Dark Alley Murder. He is the composer of both the lyrics and music having performed in New York City and other venues.

D. W. Towle grew up in Wisconsin and currently resides in Green Bay with his wife Whitney and their children.
