All the different animals on the farm talk about how they feel in the morning — except for the scarecrow who says nothing at all. Until the very end ...

The kids weren't super into this until we got to the part where the scarecrow shouts "there's a mouse in my pants!" Best thing to screech in a storytime ever.

Man I don't know what the deal is with this book! It's awful. It's really, really bad. Part of the text on each page rhymes and the rest of it doesn't, which makes it feel really disjointed and schizophrenic. The text itself is tolerable but not special or interesting in the least. The catchphrase only repeats a couple times and then it changes (which is a good gimmick once, but twice is too awkward. The illustrations? Ugh, they're bad until the freaking scarecrow's glowing red eyes bug out and from that point on they're just macabre. Here's the catch: my two year old loves this book. Why? Goodness knows. I mean, the concept is sound but it was so poorly executed.

As the barnyard wakes to the roosters crow, each animal greets the morning in their own personal way. The scarecrow, however, never says anything. That is until a mouse finds a place to hide...in the scarecrows pants! Then the scarecrow begins to dance and falls apart. But the mouse is able to get out. The animals help put the scarecrow back together and are amazed that he speaks!

This is a great book for Storytime as it gives the reader an opportunity to use animal sounds. Waiting for the children to guess what the scarecrow says adds a level of interaction to keep the kids engaged

This is about farm animals, a scarecrow and a mouse. It was one of my preschool kids' favorite books. I enjoyed reading it aloud.

Humorous rhyming story about the farm animals and the scarecrow who had nothing at all to say and the consequences that follow.

This book went over very well at my family story time. It is interactive with all the animal noises, and funny because the scarecrow says nothing at all, until a mouse runs up his pants!
