Crimes & Misdemeanors, Book One

Pamela Flynn, author of a hot detective series, has one week to get her sexy alter egos to finally drop the double entendre and make it real. Normally this wouldn’t be a problem, but ever since Pam caught her live-in boyfriend in bed with her oldest friend, she’s been cursed with the continual blank page.

Enter the smokin’-hot owner of the neighborhood’s new coffee bistro, ex-cop Roark Carmelli, who is only too happy to help Pam crush her writer’s block. Inspiring her in ways she’s never dreamed, he brings all her fantasies to life on a stakeout, in a limo, and during one unforgettably erotic night overlooking Central Park.

A Romantica® contemporary erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave

About the author

Trudy Doyle

TRUDY DOYLE’s idea of a perfect man is a cross between Clive Owen and Anderson Cooper with a little bit of Bill Maher tossed in. Her favorite après tryst scenario is hunkering down with sweetie and some smoked gouda, cheap white zin and any Coen Brothers movie (except the one with the Prince Valiant haircut). She believes that 70% cacao chocolate should qualify for a tax deduction, James Carville and Rush Limbaugh ought to settle it once and for all in a naked Jell-O pit fight, and Maureen Dowd is the new Mark Twain. Trudy lives, writes and waxes political deep in the heart of Southern New Jersey.

I can't believe I'm writing this, but...This "book" would've worked better as a short story.

What glimpses of plot I got from between all the female lead's sexual fantasies and the sex scenes between the aforementioned female lead and her masculine counterpart, the premise was good, the plot was tight and well-written, the characters were nicely developped and well-rounded...There was just too much sex, cloaking everything in a cloud of steamy pheromones.

In short, a pretty decent story crammed into an over-sexed package.

Sort of a story within a story--a popular fiction writer of cop fiction is stuck--writer's block up to waazoo. Her publisher wants a sex scene between the partners--Tanaka & Shields--and she thinks that would ruin the sexual tension. But her agent and publisher prevail, only she can't seem to get anything down on paper. Add in the mess that her personal life has become and she is in a bad way, personally and professionally. A sexy ex-cop opens a new coffee cafe just a short distance from her apartment and they become friends--well, it remains to be seen how close they really become. This is a very nice love story--lots of sexual tension, a messy life, worries over the writing, etc. I found it very enjoyable and entertaining.

Liked it! The sex scenes were numerous and mostly oral, which is unusual in my experience, considering this is a "love story" and not a "lust story". Occasionally, her word choices made me roll my eyes (OMG did she really SAY pocket rocket and Good Golly?!) but they weren't so bothersome or frequent that I couldn't easily overlook them. Sometimes the story would go into several paragraphs about something like author habits that seemed unnecessary, but there were just as many times that I felt like she really expressed an idea or feeling quite well. Overall, it was well written and I'd enjoy reading more from this author.

This short story is so lovely.
pamela has writers block, and just happens to stumble across a coffee place with a really hot owner.
i loved this story, it even ended really well.
i can't tell you everything but what i can tell you is there are bits that confuse reality with fantasy, i had to re read things just to double check what was what. usually having to do that annoys me. but not with this story.
plenty of sex in this book so it's for mature readers only.

This was a funny book. I liked it. Favourite scene: them doing the nasty in public at the busstop.
