Aliyah Snow is enjoying a normal life on the outer banks of North Carolina, at least until her eighteenth birthday when a strange mark appears upon her arm. A black mark etched on her skin in symbols she’s never seen and for reasons she doesn’t understand. She tries to tell her grandfather, the only person she trusts, but he dies before she reaches him, leaving Ali alone with unanswered questions she struggles to unravel.
Lost and confused, Ali is able to hide the mark that fades in and out on her arm from those around her until her twenty-first birthday when Evan Hunter, her coworker and closest friend, suspects something strange is going on. However, Evan knows more than he is letting on with secrets of his own to hide. Ali is unaware of the truth that Evan holds causing her to withdraw further and curse the mark upon her skin. A mark that drives her into a world she isn’t ready for. A mark that alienates her from others. A mark that challenges who she really is bringing chaos into her life and tearing her heart between the two men she cares for.
A mark with the darkness to destroy, or the power to protect but only if she accepts it for the gift it really is.
Hi, I’m Mae East, and I write stories across many different genres. Why? Mostly because I’m probably a little unhinged, slightly unbalanced, or maybe just delightfully psychotic—honestly, no one really knows. What I do know is that I connect more with people than with settings. I’m generally upbeat and positive, but my stories can wander into darker territories. I guess we all crave contrast, right? Even deep within our own souls.
At the heart of it, I love people, and I love telling stories—especially the kind that mean something to someone. And if nothing else, I hope my stories give readers a break from life’s troubles by dropping them straight into someone else’s. My books definitely aren’t for everyone (and honestly, it would be pretty strange if they were), but if you do decide to take a journey with me, I hope it’s worth the trip. And if not? No worries—there might be another story in a different genre that feels more like home.
Either way, thank you so much for stopping by, and from one reader to another, I wish you the very best on all your book-adventures. 📚✨
I really liked this book, hated the ending. Typo's and misspelled words( unless this was an ARC copy) I will read the next book and see if it is any better.
I couldn't stop reading it until I finished it in one sitting . I find the story intriguing although the script need to be reviewed due to some mistakes . I had an issue religion wise with angels walking as humans and fallen angels getting married to humans but such things set aside .. the storyteller had a really vivid imagination and looking forward to read what happens next.
