Their world teeters on the brink of war; the time to act is now.
Mackenzie and Lucan should be celebrating their newly awakened bond. Instead, they’re working to stop Jasper, the tyrannical Dragon Head, from moving forward with the next step of his sinister plan.
If he succeeds, GreenRiver’s Mythos shifters won't be the only ones who suffer.
But challenging Jasper for his throne means preparing for danger. Chaos ensues as a rogue guild accepts a bounty on Lucan’s head, and Mackenzie will stop at nothing to keep her mate from the same fate as his father.
After all, Lucan's heart and soul belong to Mackenzie, and anyone who dares to harm him will have to face her wrath.
I was lucky enough to read this Book as an ARC and I loved it. As soon as I started reading it I was just sucked back into the Story and devoured the book in one sitting.
What I loved most about the story was that I immediately felt connected to Mackenzie, Lucan and all the other wonderful characters that brought the story to life.
The growth and character development throughout the series was, what sucked me into their world and to be able to see Mackenzie „grow“ and what her family goes through kept me spellbound the whole book.
I was really sad to end this book and to also realise that this would be the last one in the series.
I hope that I’ll meet these wonderful characters again.
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this book and really enjoyed the ending of this series (and the hints as to what is coming next). My only very mild critique is that it took me a little bit to get back into things because I hadn't done a re-read in advance, and thus wasn't as up on all the things that happened. A summary or a better recap for those who were in position probably would have helped.
That said, I really appreciated the pacing of all the action parts (which sometimes are either too fast or too slow) and the graceful ending. Looking forward to the next series!
At last the final installment of the Mackenzie Green series is out and it is well worth the wait.
Concluding the story arc from the 4 previous novels, the storyline is not unexpected. It is, however, how the story unfolds that makes it so interesting and not always as anticipated. Although this is not primarily a romance novel, the few romance scenes are nicely done and cut to black / closed door which is a refreshing change from the multitude of novels that give a blow by blow account. The interpersonal interactions remain well written and the story is well paced and kept me reading until 1am.
I definitely recommend this dystopian urban fantasy novel and plan to reread the series again in a couple of years.
I received an ARC of this book, and was asked to leave an honest review.
I have really enjoyed this whole series, and the final volume of Mackenzie’s journey did not disappoint. I found the journey to the end satisfying and well-written, with a few surprises and twists that I enjoyed. Other readers felt a little sad that some of the secondary characters didn’t get highlighted as much in this volume, but that didn’t bother me too much.
This volume also contained significantly fewer editing errors than previous volumes in the series, which helped quite a bit to keep me engaged in the story. I am a natural proofreader, so that has sometimes been a distraction for me.
Great series, and great finale. I’m looking forward to Tyr and Sheyna’s story in Green Fire!
Lucan is planning on challenging Jasper for the position of Dragon Head. With help from people who Jasper let down, used or threatened, they have a job in front of them. There is also the fact that assassins have been sent to kill Lucan and the reappearance of his mother and sister. There are actions within actions, mysteries, magic, politics, new friends and enemies, suspense, surprises and action. This book has something happening at all times. Not an easy book for me to review without spoilers so I will just say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the entire series. It is not necessarily an easy read as there are a couple of darker areas. Besides some snarky comments there is not a lot of humour. But well worth the read.
This entire series has been fantastic from the beginning. It has action, suspense, a little bit of romance, and intriguing characters. This book picks up from the last book and concludes the main story between Mackenzie and Lucan. The author did an amazing job showing the growth of both Mackenzie and Lucan as well as their relationship. This book – and series - is definitely a must.
In previous books, the relationships with the supporting characters were really flushed out. I was disappointed that the supporting characters were highlighted as they were in the past.
‘This author is one I will definitely read in the future. I am glad that she plans to continue this series with an emphasis on other characters.
Definitely a must read!!
I received an advanced copy of this book and am leaving an honest review.
For this to be the first time writing, not a book but a series! I would think that this is the first time writing under this pin name.
Ever think about starting with your day job? Start by trying to jump from a helicopter trying to save someone but you both get caught by mermaids and Took right in to see the King. Just food to think about. Happy writing.
Not at all what I expected but, what a great ending to an amazing series! ******Spoiler alert****** There will be more books set in this wonderful world drawing on the supporting characters lives. It is the conclusion this series deserved. Such a great series, couple and family! Loved it!
I highly recommend this book and series. 100 out of 5 stars!
AMAZING. A great ending to the series. The characters amazing, the story line and the turns. I’ve laughed, cried, smiled like an idiot.
Mackenzie was awesome and a true strong female character, with not dealing with the bullshit from anyone, especially her mate. I am in love with this series. And can’t not wait to read about the others
Post apocalypse urban fantasy with light enough romance to not be tedious. The story has political, physical and magical battles and tribulations. Characters that are unique and complex in a world filled with dragons, magic users, vampires and more. It will help to have recently read the previous stories recently.
I loved the first 3 books and was destroyed when I finished them. I found that JS Kennedy wrote more a week ago so I HAD to reread the first 3 that so captivated me and continue to the end! I rarely write a review but I have so enjoyed these books so much that I am compelled to do so! I hope you enjoy as much as I did!
Best book ever.. I cried when she discovered during the battle with hooded guy that it was lucan Twin brother he thought was dead. And then come to find out jasper slowly and insidious mind altering of his mother. And finding out what he thought all these years was true, jasper had his father killed.
I am still in love with the characters. They just make this for me. Lucan is so caring and protective however in this he needs to be cautious because of how everything is changing. There is danger in the air and Mackenzie is still dealing with being home. They need to come together and bite off the head of the snake.
I loved getting to read this series. It really felt like it was such an amazing found family and growth story. It really felt wish there was more of the Mackenzie story! Thank you for such an amazing story.
Very enjoyable series. I highly recommend starting it from the beginning to really see the character growth and understand all of the nuances in the world build. I really liked the characters and rooted hard for Mackenzie in every way. I'll definitely look for other books by this author.
I enjoyed this book and the end of this story. I loved the characters and it’s a good ending for this part of the story. There are hints of books to come with other characters from the series and I can’t wait to read Tyr‘s story.
I am delighted by the way this series ended. It was exciting and left no loose ends. There are many characters with the potential to be main characters in their own books. I hope that the author writes more in this world.
Thoroughly enjoyable and compelling read. Excellent world-building and character development. Looking forward to more from this incredible writer. Keep them coming!
Green Dragon is, sadly, the last book in Mackenzie and Lucan’s story, but it definitely wrapped up the series nicely. When Jasper begins to implement his plans to build a separatist group of the strongest shifters at the expense of the weakest, it’s up to Kenzie, Lucan, and their friends to stand up and fight for what’s right.
I love Mackenzie and Lucan, so I loved how their bond continues to grow in the story and they complement each other really well. There was a lot going on in this story as Kenzie and Lucan gathered their friends and allies to try to defeat Jasper. I liked that there were several twists I didn’t see coming (and a few I was hoping I did). Jasper is a master manipulator and when things were at their worst, it was really hard to see a path to the conclusion I was hoping for. I’m trying not to give anything away, but I will say that Ms. Kennedy did not disappoint! I loved how Kenzie’s found family continues to grow in this book and each additional member strengthens the whole. I’ve really enjoyed this series and was sad that it was ending, so I was really happy to read that the author plans to continue stories about other members of the Green family. This is one of those series that I will happily keep reading as long as the author keeps writing it! If you’re one of those persons who was waiting to start the series, now is definitely the time. This is a great series that I highly recommend!
I, too, was lucky enough to get an ARC copy of this book. I devoured the other books in the series and I devoured this book as well. It was an excellent ending to this series, but let you know it is not the ending to books set in this world. I look forward to continuing to read Ms. Kennedy’s future books. Thank you for including me!
This final book in this series was absolutely awesome! I just loved it! I fell in love with this series right from the beginning - the characters were great, showed great strength and character growth too. The relationships between the siblings were so strong and supportive, despite not being blood siblings for the most part. The plots were always strong and fast paced with never a dull moment, and this one was no different.
The time has come for Lucan to take a stand against Jasper and everything he is spouting about, but Jasper is not going to take Lucan's challenge sitting down. Jasper has always come across as very manipulative, but not especially strong, but he really did surprise me at times with his level of ingenious thinking and anticipation. Unfortunately for him, Lucan can deal with him as long as Mackenzie is by his side!
I loved how so many different people, friends and family, came to support Mackenzie and Lucan in this final book.
If you are looking for a great action-filled urban fantasy with a bit of romance along the way, with strong characters and heart-wrenching plots that make you laugh, scream, cry and feel all the other emotions in between, that you can hardly put down, then pick up this series today, but start at the beginning. You will not be disappointed.
I was so lucky to be chosen as an ARC reader for this book, so huge thanks go to J.S. for giving me this book early.
