I wanted to like this book but I cannot with Gray. Callum is great, but Gray?

"I fell in love with her shy presence. I fall deeper in love with the woman she has grown into and become."

Bruh, be for real. You don't even know her. 60% through the book and you haven't had a real f*cking conversation with her about anything that is not sex-related. All you've done is drool over her body as if she's a piece of meat, brought her along somewhat against her will, f*cked her (with consent) in every position imaginable, and spanked her against her will. You have not properly talked to her. You know about her dad not because she told you but because your friend shared the information. What did you fall in love with again? I don't buy it.

The Wolf in my Tavern was a MFM Omegaverse story that had all the steam and all the violence. It started out a bit slow but picked up about halfway through. Likeable characters and a HEA. Enjoyed it!

“Forever, Ada. I am not fucking about with this. I have put my cock inside you. I am going to fucking come. Forever, Ada. Tell me you are mine forever. Tell me you will marry me.”

She used to be my good girl. Now she is good for him... and bad, and sinful, and fucking hot.

The Wolf in My Tavern is another great addition to the Coveted Prey universe, full of lovable characters, spice, and a fast-moving plot. There are a few character crossovers from previous books, but this can be read as a complete standalone.

There are two MMCs jealously fighting for Ada's heart but willing to share to make her happy. Callum is the all-in, golden retriever, willing to be bad to save his woman type of alpha. An immediate favorite of the pair. Grey doesn't start out lovable, but he gets there. His possessive methods don't even venture near the realm of sweetness, but they get the job done.

This is a fast-burn and spicy fated-mates MFM omegaverse romance with shifters and latent omegas.

If you've loved LV Lane's previous works, you are sure to love this one. If this is your first taste, enjoy!

3.3/5

I was fucking LOVING it, I mean a new favorite book, until the cheating and non con. Jesus that was rough. It still ended okay but I really struggled through that.

Monster (wolf shifters). MFM. Abused and beaten FMC. Rescued FMC. Blacksmith “beta” ginger mate (Callum). Secret shifter (Callum - he doesn’t know. Royal blood). Virgins (Callum and Ada). Knotting. Biting. Fated mates. Promised to another (Gray). On a quest (Gray). Pining. Scenting. Drawn to each other. Mate bond. Carried away in a haze. Cheating (Ada and Gray). Breeding.
Non con (Gray). Dub con (gray). Cums in pants (Callum). Forced to watch Gray hurt Ada. Binding/helpless. Anal. Omega. The MM pairing do not sword cross and do not like each other.
Royal shifter (Callum). Public claiming. Breeding. DVP. DP. Rescuing the shifter pack. Epilogue with pregnancy and seeing Betsy/Heath again.

Oh wow, the book started off great… but immediately plunged to its death few chapters in. The blurb promised an intriguing story only for it to get annihilated when all of them went on the ship. What a joke. I knew Gray had his reasons (however fucked up they were) but their first weeks together? Nah. Nope.

I do appreciate how real it is in the book about two males coming to terms with sharing their woman, but how the author executed the base of their dynamic was NOT IT. Jail.

Plus there was little to none character development, suddenly one character went from shy to smexy flirty cursing like a sailor in two minutes. Suddenly a sheltered blacksmith-to-be is a roaring murdery beast. Just… smh.

Very disappointing. I had high hopes for this book :(

This is a slow read. It starts to pick up around 50% if you can make it to that point. I felt like this story could have possibly been shorter as a lot is repeated throughout the story.
At first I was confused cause I never thought Callum was a shifter but he didnt know he was a shifter till later in the book. It took a while, but once everyone was on board with Ada having 2 mates, it seems like thats when we got spiciness in the bedroom with 2 🐺shifters. Ada is an omega so the best part is when she goes into heat 🥵 you get DVP and one in every hole. We also get 🤰smex . You will get a plot in this story along with the spice. This is not the first book Ive read from the series and It wont be my last.

Sweet, twisty and a little dark

I love the omega tales that Lane creates. Her worlds are so beautiful and complex but build well in the mind. I can picture everything as I read and find it hard to put them down. This story is sweet, at the same time as having a few darker themes. Latent omega, and a latent alpha, it becomes a journey of discovery all around. Latent alpha was something new and was a nice twist to the usually hidden or latent omega tale.

Wow! L.V. has done it again.

This story was packed - solid storyline, great characters, lots of action and even I'd say adventure, and of course all the steam!

I loved that both Callum and Ada ended up being more than they appeared...they really found their footing together and in their rolls throughout the story.

The dynamic between Gray, Callum, and Ada really grew throughout the story and by the end they read had found their footing as a family, as a pack.

There were several side characters that I hope we see in future books...they were definitely set up well to catch reader interest

I was surprised to find this book was so long. So I had hope that there was a good Interesting plot instead of just smutt. I’ve been a fan of this series and have read most of the books. But I was reminded about 55% of why I had decided a few books ago that I was done with this series. In my opinion, the books are all the same.

She has a system for writing and every book follows it. The plots are all similar. A young virginal female who is abused or mistreated in some way needs the big bad male(s) to teach her the ways of behaving like a good girl and sex. They are all simpering horny wenches who lose all rational thought and need a firm hand on her butt and multiple dicks to keep her calm. The males are all touch her and die instant lust brutish alphas who do nothing but take control and have sex all the time. The plot is usually simple and nothing too complex.

I really love her writing and world building. I’m just ready for something new from her, A female character who fights back and makes these men work for her. Who doesn’t constantly succumb to BBS and her horny instincts.

Callum was great. He had a lot of sweet moments and huge character growth. He
worked to build a relationship and intimacy with the fmc and didn’t just rut her because he could andhis instincts demanded it. you felt their chemistry and connection. Gray is just like all the other men in the series. Nothing special or different. Overbearing alphahole who steam rolls the fmc and ruts her because he can and his instincts demand it.

I never thought I’d say this but I’m tired of the constant sex. I’d rather have angst and forbidden love or some kind of second chance romance after a betrayal than 300 pages of sex.

PLOT:
Ada is an abused girl whose father sells her to slavers to cover his debts. She is rescued by Callum, a blacksmith's son, along with her friend, Betsy and taken to the safety at the inn Betsy's dad owns. She starts working as a barmaid and meets Grey, a dominant wolf shifter and alpha who comes in as a patron. This is their story, omegaverse themes.

THOUGHTS:
- I love Callum and Ada together, he's so sweet and earnest and then when we find out who he really is it feels right.

- I'm not really big on sharing, I personally wish Ada ended up with one or the other but this author is big on multiple partners (which is cool if that's your thing). I feel like there wasn't enough foundation for both of them to be built on and she seemed happier and more deeply connected with Callum and just lustful over Grey. The guys also are barely able to keep from going for each other's throats so this is more of a "I'll let you fuck her because she wants you, but I low key hate your guts and would prefer that it just be me and her" kind of thing which killed the mood more for me tbh

- This was really good from a smut perspective, there's plenty of nasty bits, but the story feels lacking to me. The title made me think Ada was going to be in the bar or take over or something but they're barely there for a third of the book. The smut was really spicy but I wasn't a fan of the sharing and then at the end the plot felt meandering and boring once she gets claimed.

If you're reading for smut it's 5/5, if you like plot, substance and smut it's more of a 3.5/5.

- FMC: Ada
- MMC's: Callum, Gray
- POVs Included: Multiple POVs (Ada, Callum, Gray, Heath)
- Book Playlist (Wolf Shifter Romance Book Playlist)

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
SUMMARY: (SPOILER WARNING)

Ada is a human who lives in Bleakness -- a dreary orc-ruled city -- with her abusive father. When one day he sells her as a slave for some coin, she finds herself a friend in a fellow captive, Betsy. Which leads to her inevitable rescue by Betsy's father and some of his friends, one of which is a man named Callum.

Her and Callum start to fall for each other, but she also finds herself drawn to a wolf shifter named Gray who frequents the tavern she works at (The Green Man).

Over time, the three find themselves intertwined. Callum and Ada have secrets about themselves that even they don't know about. And once they discover them, it changes the whole dynamic of their relationship with each other and Gray.

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
REVIEW:

I liked this one and enjoyed a lot about it. But there were definitely a few things that bugged me as well.

First off, I loved the glimpses we got of previous characters. Betsy and her father Tim (who owns The Green Man tavern) we first met in Rapture (Winter and Jacob's book). They also appear in other books in the series when characters visit or stay in The Green Man, but I can't recall exactly which ones. Also Gwen and Eric play a big role in helping them out in this book. Gwen and Eric have been in several other books in the series, including Trained For Their Pleasure and Claimed For Their Pleasure, and Traded For Their Pleasure. I do wish Gwen, Eric, and her other mates had gotten a book of their own at some point, but unfortunately they never did (that I know of).

So I liked the beginning of this book and the sweet courting going on between Ada and Callum. Gray doesn't really come to the forefront of the story until about page 165 (aka 36%). And at this point Ada proceeds to cheat on Callum (who is currently her fiance and is set to marry him in two days) with Gray. This was my first big issue.

I have no issue with poly relationships in romance books, in fact they are my pretty much my favorite type of romance to read. But there has to be communication and understanding between everyone involved, or else it's just cheating. So this whole thing really pissed me off. And Ada was ready to "take it to her grave" (her words) and never tell Callum about it ever. Ugh. Not okay. This really demonstrates her true (ugly) character and lack of respect for Callum.

The next problem I had was how Gray handled "claiming" Ada. Which basically involved kidnapping her, tying her up and raping her repeatedly while Callum was forced to watch (also tied up). Apparently this worked? I mean everyone was good with it in the end, but the whole thing felt really skeevy and gross to me. And this is coming from someone who actually reads captive and questionable consent romance. But I think I need to be in a certain mindset to read that kind of thing. In this case it was portrayed as normal to everyone around them, which I found really weird.

Once they were all on board with things, I liked the story better. Callum and Gray get to a decent place and end up liking sharing after awhile. But the whole thing was stained by the characters' previous actions, for me. And so I couldn't fully enjoy it because of how Ada, and especially Gray, behaved in the beginning.

Overall it was okay. I am glad the author went back to a ménage relationship with alphas and their omega -- and I loved that they're wolf shifters. I enjoyed these aspects. But a lot of the story was ruined for me by the way the characters acted in the beginning of the story. Oh well...

Eeek! All you monster smut lovers need to sprint to get this!

But please check your trigger warnings before reading!

It has werewolves, orcs, witches and knitting! LOTS OF KNOTTING!

The sex scenes are soakingly sensational!

You have 2 MMC’s Callum and Grey, your FMC is Ada.

Callum is very much the golden retriever MMC and grey is the broody, grumpy MMC.

So, Ada is brought up in poverty, merely surviving her abusive father. Until one day, the only person she had in her life, her father, sells her to the under ground slave trade. She is put into a cell with another woman, called Betsy.

But Betsy has friends and family that come to her rescue, and as the 2 females bond over their rather dire circumstances, Betsy insists that Ada comes with her when the rebellion comes to their rescue.

This is where Ada meets Callum, he saves her and carries her back to their friends tavern, which is owned by Betsy’s father. The tavern then becomes her home and her found family.

Ada and Callum get together, they share their first kiss a few chapters in and then have a few fumbles in the hay, but never more as Callum being the gent that he is wants Ada’s first time to be special.

Callum has a fighting match in the underground arena, wins and is pumped with adrenaline, Ada comes to the changing room to congratulate him and Callum decides he has waited too long and takes her on the floor. Now Callum has noticed some changes to his physique the last week or so, the main one being his cum gun is bigger and has a swelling at the base. They bang and he ends up rutting her, they get stuck - and poor Callum doesn’t know what’s going on.

This is where all the rutting kicks in. But this is also a why choose monster smut book, so there are 2 shifters for Ada to “get to know”.

The world building is amazing and there is an epic adventure behind all the rutting and knotting.

This book is part of a series but each book is standalone.

This is the newest addition to the 'Coveted Prey' universe and can be read as a stand-alone without any issues. :)

A romantic and light omegaverse tale that mostly takes place in the Tavern where we meet Grey the Alpha wolf shifter and Ada the latent Omega who's a serving girl there.
We also have Callum the blacksmith "boy" - though he's far from a boy hehe, and together they are smitten by Ada and feel a strong pull. However, they are not fond of sharing. ;)

I found Ada to be a lovely and innocent individual, who through the story grows stronger and has a wonderful arc. Her background is sad which makes you root for her even more.

Grey is searching for his lost pack members who were taken by the Blighten a year ago but a certain server girl catches his attention. ;)

Callum and Ada together was so innocent and fun, it's a love story of discovery and they just kept making me smile. As the book goes on Callum discovers more and more about himself and his family ties, things his father never told him about, and together with Grey they set out on a journey.

This wouldn't be an L.V. Lane book if it didn't have super saucy smexy scenes and some combat action, and she doesn't disappoint.
This book will leave you changing sheets and pump up the adrenaline a bit.

Though Callum and Grey share Ada, this is an MFM menage Omegaverse, and there is no MM action between them. This book also contains pregnancy, but no birth sadly. I would have loved to see the birth in the epilogue, but I am still a happy reader. :)

Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 (rounded up for rating)
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5

This Coveted Prey novel can technically be read as a standalone. There are a few crossover characters from other books in the series, and it doesn’t hurt to get that depth of knowledge by reading prior novels, but it’s not technically necessary. If you’ve made it this far into the Coveted Prey series, you will love this one!

The Wolf in My Tavern is a great addition to this universe, as it has a fast-paced plot, likable characters, and a generous depiction of spicy times. This storyline follows Ada (FMC), who is torn between feelings for the two MMCs, Callum and Grey.

Callum is immediately the MMC that you are drawn to due to his golden retriever energy, but then he also has a side where he is possessive and willing to do what is necessary to protect his woman. Grey does not start out as likable, he’s guarded, closed off, and it takes FOREVER for him to have an actual conversation with Ada…BUT…he grows on you and he does turn out to be lovable. Grey’s possessive/obsessive tendencies are not sweet initially, but he shows he cares in his own way.

This starts as a bit of a slow-burn, but when the spice hits, it turns spicy fast and is a fun fated mates MFM omegaverse romance with shifters, and a latent alpha and omega.

And LV does it again! How she keeps managing to nail these Coveted Prey books with fresh storylines and unique characters is beyond me, but she does it so so well!

Ada is a sweet and innocent omega, sold by her father then thrust into a new world she has no idea the draw she has, and when she develops a crush on the blacksmith's son she doesn't think he'll ever be interested, but oh how wrong she is!

Callum is a sweet cinnamon roll hero who has no idea the power that hides beneath his skin, feeling a pull to Ada he makes it his mission to court her, and their love story grows beautifully.

Then enter the grumpy, broody, wolf shifter alpha on a mission, nothing is supposed to stand in his way, he has a one track mind and nothing will make him sway from it, until he feels the draw of the little omega tavern maid...

The character growth in this story was just everything, these three characters manage to help each other shine, even when Gray and Callum showed signs of aggression towards one another 😂 but for Ada they are able to set aside their differences and become a force to be reckoned with

This book was full of twists and turns I didn't see coming and I just loved every single page 🖤🖤

Holy hotness!! I loved this story! It was beautiful to see and experience the growth our heroin goes through from being and lonely mistreated young woman to a strong confident one. Getting to experience the relationship between our mains was really great to read. I loved how long this book was. Some of L.V's books are on the shorter side and have less story elements, but this book had a really great story! While there are things I would have love to have been expanded upon, and loved it just as it was. There was a story progression that I really enjoyed. In the world that this series takes place in, all the elements of the story make sense and are things you could reasonably see happen. I loved the mains in this story, but I also truly loved some of the side characters. They brought more to this book. I was invested in how not just the main story would progress and eventually end. And end it did, in a way I enjoyed very much! I can not wait for the next L.V Lane book! I haven't read a single one that I have not enjoyed. I definitely recommend!

Another fantastic instalment in the coveted prey series. This can be read as a standalone but for maximum enjoyment I would recommend reading the previous instalments for context and to enjoy the appearance of other characters.

Ada had my favourite character arc as a well rounded latent omega that went from innocent and shy serving girl with a sad past to a much stronger woman. It’s very easy to be stereotypical when writing an innocent character but thankfully LV didn’t fall in to this trap.

Despite Callum and Grey having difficulty in sharing it was overall a great lighthearted read. The contrast between the sweet cinnamon roll Callum and the grumpy wolf shifter Grey made from an engaging read that felt well rounded and multi dimensional giving something for those that love to swoon to the cute and also the bad boy.

The steam was, as always, on point for LV who you know will give you the goods every single time.

Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys their steam with plenty of drama and a solid storyline!

With the advent of the twenty-second book in the Coveted Prey series, Miss Lane certainly does not disappoint. Enter Ada, a serving girl trying to make an honest wage to get away from her abusive father in the city of Bleakness that is ruled by the green skinned ogres. On a dark night she is sold to Bone for the price of a few drinks. In a strange twist of fate Ada is tossed in a cell with Betsy the tavern owner’s daughter.
Callum, a blacksmith's son, is roused from sleep to partake in a rescue mission. He and a few towns’ people route the slaves from the cells to the tavern for safe keeping. In doing so, they bring them into the eyes of a certain Master Gray. An Omega from the neighboring forest. For he is a Shifter. A Wolf if you will. A Wolf that is enchanted by Ada’s scent. Callum is enamored of Ada as well and sets his sights on her too. Does Callum or Grey get the girl?

A wonderful addition to Ms. Lane's 'Coveted Prey' series.
I loved this one.
I was easily and swiftly immersed deep into the Omegaverse universe Ms. Lane created, complete with physical surroundings, politics, inhabitants. Peopled with believable characters to love, fear, lust after as well as loathe, the author gives us intriguing and engrossing image building peeks for each one of our 3 main characters: sweet gentle Callum, who we come to realize is much more than he seems; Ada, innocent and naive, loving but incredibly strong and resilient; and Gray: primal ALPHA and willing to do anything to acquire and keep his mate.
Add to this, danger, suspense, politics, adventure, mystery perfectly balanced with lust detailed in scorching scenes with the author's incredibly skilled writing, all makes for an absolutely awesome read I loved.

Omegaverse, Wolf shifters, MFM
From the beginning this story grabbed my attention.
Filled with lots of steam, action and danger, drama, and emotional moments as well.

Ada, Callum, and Gray were perfect together. The journey they take to get there was nothing short of a roller-coaster though. However, seeing their relationship evolve and become a pack was the best part. The banter and disputes between the guys, the spicy scenes, and finally the love they shared.
I honestly loved both the guys, but there was something extra special between Callum and Ada. I love that they shared some firsts together.
I also loved how things changed for both Callum and Ada. The surprises we get in the story made me so happy. 😉

I think this was another fantastic book by L.V. Lane!!!
I loved it!!

Whew! This one was brutal.

Lane’s been going dark lately, but the themes she played with in this book were no joke. I genuinely enjoy Lane’s story telling and this book had some really great moments as well as a surprising cameo that made my day. But the things she put Callum through messed with my head a bit. Ada’s my least favorite of Lane’s heroines, and Grey is an extremely selfish alpha-hole but his character evolves over time. All in all, I enjoyed reading this one.

I love every book L.V. Lane has written and this book is no exception. Talk about RH at its finest. You have Callum a sweet blacksmith who has eyes for one girl only, Ada. Then there is Gray a wolf shifter who is an alpha in every way. Then throw in Ada who they both find out is their mate and she finds herself attracted to both. However, sharing becomes a very big issue for both men, there is one way to solve it, Gray abducts her.

What will Callum do…. Go after her of course and this is where chaos brakes out, and the hot, sexy fun begins. Also, wait until Callum comes into his full potential…. Boom!

In closing, this is a must read for RH Omegaverse readers everywhere. You will not be disappointed. HEA guaranteed!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I really enjoy L.V. Lane's writing style. I especially like the good mix of plot and spice. I think the story lends itself so its easily enjoyed. This is my first book in this series to read, so I am not sure if I was missing anything, but I did feel like I was missing something with my understanding of the universe. Overall, I did like it! It took me a little while to fully connect, but the plot keeps moving along. I did enjoy this style of Omegaverse for sure. Ada, Callum, and Grey were such great characters together and I loved watching their pack form. I loved the initial jealously between Callum and Gray.

I had very high expectations for this book; I don't know why; I guess I felt the summary was interesting. I recommend you look at the trigger warnings before starting. Since there was a very specific scene where I was uncomfortable with that, it felt like non-consent, which is not okay. Consent non-consent is fine, but this was a bit much for a bit. I know things changed, and it was clear that she was enjoying what was happening and the situation. But kept saying it's not something she wanted to do right now. We couldn't change that part. Was it really necessary for the plot? Most of the book was them getting to know each other, figuring out what they wanted. Not my favorite reverse harem read.

Oh, holy smut balls, this was hot! It also has a really good plot, but when that spice hits... oh, it hits!
Two possessive alphas who absolutely do not want to share and one very sweet little mate make for one very hot story.
Dominance battles, a little "stealing", one-upmanship, and a little exhibitionism all thrown in in a bid to win their mate. 😍😅🥵

🐺 Wolf Shifter Romance
🐺 MFM
🐺 Totally Smutty
🐺 Interconnected Standalone
🐺 Knotting
🐺 Completely Filthy

* You do not need to read the other books in the series. Although, I do highly recommend them anyway because they're all smutty awesomeness.
