This was a really sweet book. The main characters were easy to fall in love with. I always love the idea of small towns. There is something so magical about them. This story was all about second chances and found families. But it also addressed abuse and mental health in a very sensitive way. Overall I enjoyed this. Definitely worth grabbing a copy and seeing for yourself the magical world of Foxtail Grove.
When his friend dragged Kit to Foxtail Grove to get away from his previous life as an author, which almost destroyed him, Kit didn't expect to write ever again. Being content in his new, quiet life, he has everything he needs. Or so he thought. When the shy Isla Jepsen moves into the house across from Kit, he is inspired to start writing again. But with her troubled past and his former experience with his publisher, can anything come out of it? Or will their past overshadowe their chance at being happy? Oh sweet baby Jesus, this book is soooo sweet and gentle. Both, Kit and Isla are incredibly kind and caring characters who experienced trauma in the past and are trying hard to move forward. To make new friends in the small town of Foxtail Grove with its incredible inhabitants and to heal from everything they had to endure. Kit had me swooning SO hard, always making sure, that Isla felt safe with him and never trying to takr more than she was willing to give. This book is a sloooooow burn, but the wait is absolutely worth it!! When their past finally catches up to them, I needed to sit up while reading because, the drama?!?! 😮💨 Long review short: You absolutely need to visit Foxtail Grove and get to know Kit and Isla. And it would be even better if you started with the first book "Foxtail Inn" right now. Just saying 😉.
I read this book in on sitting. I just couldn’t stop. It was so sweet, and charming. Some of the tropes are:
-Small town -Age gap -Slowish burn -Strangers, to friends, to lovers.
I’m not a huge fan of 3rd person POV, but this was written in a way that didn’t bother me at all.
I love the anxiety representation, and how wholesome just everyone was. This book was so so different from what I usually read, but I don’t regret a single second of reading it. This book just made so happy and warm inside. PLEASE READ IT. It’s awesome 💕🥰
A sweet and heartfelt romance with two beautiful and very real characters. Kit is a humble, kind, shy and sweet MMC. Isla is a shy but fierce FMC. Both find each other when they really need what the other has to offer. I really enjoyed reading this, watching these characters develop and fall in love.
Muse is a contemporary romance involving two quirky individuals who share a similar experience. I do recommend reading the triggers.
I loved the characters and novel as a whole but found it hard to connect with them in a way that made me want to binge read the book. It was almost like being on the outside looking in vs being right there with them.
This was a crazy quick read and enjoyable all the way through. As a second instalment in the foxtail grove world it was really wonderful to get to meet some more of the locals and visit more of the town. It was great to see the works through characters that are relatable and easy to fall in love with. I may be a bit bias though.
If you don't know what it is to feel depression, or anxiety or love, then this book will explain it for you. Kit and Isla come together and go through entirely different things in their lives but then they meld and clash and create something extraordinary with each other. It's a wonderfully sweet read.
