In the hopes that Aiko would forget about this desire, her parents send here to the island of Hokkaido to marry a nobleman. After being abused be her husband, Aiko runs away to a small Ainu village. The Ainu were the indigenous people originally living in Japan. There she meets a teacher who instructs her in the non-violent No-hands method. After great difficulty and the death of her teacher Aiko finally masters the No-hands Method. It is a complex story with many twists and turns.
