“Inside the allure of darkness, we often find our true selves.”
Ten years ago, Adrían Delgano officially left his previous life as a cartel enforcer behind to become part of a ghost unit deployed to various high-conflict areas around the globe. Also, ten years ago, he left behind the first woman to make him feel as if he still retained shades of red in his coal-black heart.

Sayeda Price.

But the last time he saw Sayeda, it was as her lifeless body burned in the back of a discarded van, the flames consuming the metal frame around her—or so he thought until she shows up at the house of a friend neither of them knew they shared.

Now, not only is she pretending not to know who he is, but he learns that she's part of the same Brazilian cartel he vowed never to return to.

3.5 stars. I’m a really big fan of this series but this book didn’t hit the mark. Aside from the usual humor from the other characters I found it quite….. disappointing and anti climactic. Adrian was far more passionate towards Eesh and when he found out the woman he loved was alive I thought the passion and love between them would be explosive like it is with the other assassins but he seemed too nonchalant.
I also felt sayeda was too laid back in her acceptance of Adrian and Eesh. I felt her response was unrealistic. The words were there but I didn’t FEEL it.
The author could have made this book far more angsty, more action packed and more revengeful. Gano’s revenge was written in such a unimpactful way. There was no horror to it. No omg or laughter.
The part I hated the most though was how he treated Sayeda in Brazil. He was playing a “part”, but It was distasteful, disrespectful and unnecessary imo. I’m not sure how he could be happy with anyone seeing his woman that way. The other assassins would slaughter a village before they allowed that to happen. He just didn’t live up to his name in this book. I really hope the next one is better

Felt like the author took the easy way out a number of times in this book. So many opportunities for angst that were missed. Still enjoyed it. But on the K Alex Walker scale it fell short, as a fan of her other works.

DNF @ 15%.

I could not get into this. I tried, but I just do not like mafia romances. Between the 20 or so characters that were introduced in the first 30 pages, the endless whinging by the MMC about being in love with Ayesha, and the FMC thinking the MMC didn't recognize her because before she disappeared from his life (and faked her death!) they had only had sex in pitch black or with her face covered it was like a damn soap opera.

Loved It 🙌

Adrian, 🥰 mano, you made swoon…
Sayeda and Adrian are true definition of soulmates, that man cannot have flings or simple hook ups, only one person can do it for him … it’s no wonder when he met Ayesha things got heated for the first time in years.
Anyway, imagine seeing your love died in a fire and ten year’s later she is right in front of you. What would you do? And to learn what she went through, what would you do to the people responsible
?…
Don’t skip, or you will miss something. This story will keep you enthralled, Adrian has a sense of humor that will make smile & the banter among the brothers and their families. Little Theo 🥰, I love that little boy!
Can’t wait go or Wren & Thanasis & the demise of Mora.
Ps. Did Alessandra make it?

Disappointed

I really loved the Alpha series until Joel and Ayesha. This installment that includes the prequel of Adrain/Delgano and Sayeda's story was not as satisfying for me as the rest of the series. Delgano was super confusing, not in the cliffhanger type way. It was confusing to follow and understand what was happening, the connection to the alpha storyline, then it abruptly ended with so many unanswered questions and confusion at the end. This installment definitely tied up a lot of the loose ends but was still just weird and left more loose ends. It took me over 2 weeks to finish this book that I can usually get thru in a couple days. Still drug on with some parts of the storyline that made it annoying, weird, or unnecessary because it didn't make sense or resolve anything. Adrian & Ayesha's connection made sense but was weird once you figure out the connection with Sayeda, Joel and Adrian's friendship, Hannah, Sayeda wants to kill/but not really🙄, Wren 's fascination with Adrian when there is another love interest for her, plus trying to keep up with all the old and new characters. This book became boring and these couples (Joel/Ayesha & Adrian/sayeda) are not as exciting to me as the original Alpha group...and their love stories were weird (Ayesha being friend's with Joel's ex, he's a replacement for her deceased husband, Adrian/Ayesha/Sayeda🙄)...it's weird and in real life, NO!

Maybe it's dragging on too long because I'm forgetting who the original group is, trying to revisit them makes the book longer and I become bored and irritated because its too many characters to try to remember and connect to. I missed what's up with Mike and his boo, what secret did Mo have, what happened with Central and their murderous mother, how did the dad die...lots of loose ends. Just disappointed again😑😞.

Enjoyable Experience

OMG! This book was so dang good! It's definitely one of my absolute romantasy obsession! I absolutely enjoyed these two pov relationship! This can also be your next romantasy obsession! In a world of assassins, Adrían and Sayeda love is forever .But in a twist of rage and fate, their lives is interrupted. I enjoyed being immersed in this world and following this couple as they battles to take control of their destiny. The rising passion, seems to be just what these two wanted to handle. The love, support, and gentle ribbing from the team provides the perfect mix of light heartedness and love they all needed. The banter and drama between Adrían and Lorenzo is captivating.Reasons I enjoyed this book is because the page turning entertaining realistic passion that's steamy which makes it unpredictable with witty wonderful and absolutely pleasurable characters. This book ended with such a pleasurable experience but with so much that still needed to be unraveled, that I am so excited and impatiently waiting for the next book and I bet after reading this story you will be just as excited!!!

It didn’t hit how I expected it to 😫. The build up from delgano had me so excited for the conclusion but it was so underwhelming. So many things were left up in the air and this may be because the writer wants to continue the storyline in wrens book but I’m just not interested. Thanasis gives me the creeps. Sayeda and Adrian deserved so much more tbh. There was many incomplete important conversations that they needed to have that was just brushed over with sarcastic comments or sex. Then Lorenzo’s torture was told to us I wanted to witness it tbh .i just wished I was left feeling satisfied like I did at the end of the other books in the series. Even the epilogue wasn’t about sayeda & Adrian!

4-4.5 stars

I love this found family so much UGH. I wish the epilogue was of Adrian and Sayeda but it does have me interested in Wren and Thanasis 👁

In some ways it felt like a slow burn when it came to their feelings but I was happy they were still getting it on WOOO!! Also really interested to see how they'll handle leaving central I feel like we're getting closer and closer to seeing how that will all play out 🧐 but sigh I love Adrian and Sayeda together and I'd definitely love another book or novella with them after they get married like Giorgio and Mo 🤭

But I just think these two were so cute together ugh. I mean with the violence and the killing others, etc. But get you a man who would torture anyone who wronged you!

Tw of past mention of sexual assault done to FMC (not done by mmc), also murder

I absolutely love this series!

From the first book in this series down to this one, I’m hooked like a junkie. This was so riveting, I love an ALPHA man, a sexy take charge, I’ll burn this whole world down for you kind of guy. That’s what Adrian was once he got Seda back in his life, there was no separation for them, not even through death. I love K. Alex style of writing, the way she weaves a story together, incorporating her other characters into this one big family that would go to hell and back for each other. This was mesmerizing and gripping, all the way into the next story which I can’t wait to sink my teeth into.

Action Packed

Book 2 in the series leaves off from book one with Adrian and Sayeda
He thought she was gone forever but he was wrong

This is an page turner, action packed, some dust and with the gang all here some humor
I couldn’t put the book down until w finished
The author continues to create characters you love and hate, storylines that have you turning the pages do fast you are sorry when it ends
If you have not read the Angels and Assassins series I highly recommend reading it
You will not be disappointed
I am looking forward to reading Wren and Hannah story(hint)
Great job Ms Walker

So, will there be another?

That whole scene in the hallway of the hotel where the birthday celebration was, leads me to think so. In true fashion, the book was action packed and of course had a HEA. Some finality was given but I still have questions about Hannah. Why doesn't she just take care of dear old auntie herself? She's done a good job of hiding thus far, I believe they won't even see her coming. The HEA was good would have liked Sayeda and Adrian to have been married with a baby on the way. Maybe that will be the next one? I will be looking forward to another in this series.

Great...

K. Alex Walker does it again. I enjoyed this story immensely. I continue to fall in love with the family all over again. I am impressed that they are woven throughout the story without taking away from Adrian and Sayeda. I love that no matter how much time has passed for them. They were able to find their way back to each other. Everyone should have a man like Adrian. There for you mentally as well as physically to the end. Plus the passion they had for each other was unlimited. Their love was so sexy, sensual and scorching hot!🔥🔥🔥🔥 I really enjoyed the series and if there is more books. I can't wait to read them in the future.

Dark so good

I'm an avid fan. I've read most of her books. I say most because some of her books don't call to me (ex. Joel's first love story). But Adrian I was attracted to at first introduction. And Ms Walker delivered on his story. This is the dark that I like. Enough details to connect to your blood thirsty side but not so detailed that you feel unclean yourself. I love what seems like contradictory parts of Adrian but really are not. The only bad part is that it has lessened the allure of Brazil for me.

Excellent as usual. If you're not reading K. Alex Walker's Angels & Assassins series, you're seriously missing out.

Of course, review to follow ... soon!

Before I go ... who knew KAW was a comedienne. Seriously, there are lots of funny moments in this story ... primarily ... any scene with Wren and Thanasis ... when Thanasis grabbed Wren's foot and pulled her out of Adrian's bed (read the book) ... I could not STOP laughing! His antics reminded me of Tarzan ... Me: Thanasis ... You: Wren ... You Mine!

I immediately rated this book a "4" because overall I enjoy the series, but in hindsight my rating should have been lower; maybe 2 or a 3.

Once again, the story had massive character overload. I enjoy when previous characters make a cameo appearance, but they just overwhelmed this book. Adrian and Sayeda are a great pair but there was still too much historical Adrian & Ayesha reference. Also, there was mention of Val and Ant and for the life of me, I don't know where they came from! Then you had left over twin villains from the Omega team who recognized Mo (why was that important) and caused chaos. Seriously, I should have waited, given the story more thought and rated this book lower.

Next up will be Wren & Thanasis and I really hope the author builds a better story similar to the early Angels & Assassins series.

Worth the wait

I absolutely love this series and both teams working together just made that much better. Adrian and Sayeda made perfect sense and finally got a well-deserved happily ever after in the only way one of these crazy, possessive, overly protective alpha men could. It's all about the second chance and acceptance of those things that changed them both dur8ng their time apart. Another favorite couple.

Did I tell you I LOVE your books!!

Fangirling over here! Your books touch me in such a way that even though I've been meaning for over 40 years, it brings back the feeling of romanced by an Alpha each time. We're older and slower but he is still just as protective and I compare him to your books (without the 🔫 and blood)!! Love them!!

Good Storytelling Action

This is my type of story, action and romance. I love everything this author writes and didn’t realize there was a part one to this particular story. I’ll have to go read that book. Characters as usual are well developed and story and plot well executed. If you are a fan of this author you will. It be disappointed.

I loved the humor but I dislike that there are too many moving parts and unaddressed situations. Mora? What’s really going on with Hannah? Novi and Paoli? The other teams? Aron Price and the whole pregnancy and babies separated at birth? And now I guess it’s Wren and Thansis’ story up next. This installment was really 3.5 stars but rounded up due to Sayeda and Adrian’s chemistry together.

*****Spoilers*****

I was less confused with this book than the first, I forgot how disappointed I was in how that book ended before I decided to pick this one up. This one was more engaging but had way too many characters. It probably would've been much better had I read all of those stories first so that I had more context around the other relationships. In any case, Adrian had a relationship with Syeda's twin sister when he thinks Sayeda died. Syeda and twin meet for the first time in this book. Long review short, that was a bit much for me in terms of ick so I couldn't really get lost.

This is one for the books! I love the "Angels and Assassins" series and am very pleased that Ms. Walker included the members of Alpha in this follow-up to "Delgado". Joel and Eesh are my favorite couple in the series, with Gio and Mo coming a very close second. I'm now adding Adrian and Seda to my top three (they bumped Mike and Xara to the fourth spot).

I'm a little nervous about Central's retaliation (it's inevitable) the impact to the Alpha Team and their significant others. There seemed to be some type of omen hanging over Julian and Ari (I love them as well). I'm hoping that each of the couples get their happy endings and I look forward to learning more about Omega.
