for the past six months or so ive had recurring dreams that i am in an impossibly tall building and i have to keep moving up through successively stranger floors, so I thought I would read up on architecture to help understand my dream. it turns out that frank lloyd wright designed mostly one story sprawling rather than towering buildings so at first i thought it would be no use to me. but it turns out he planned, but never built, a mile-high building, which he saw as the lynchpin of a utopian city. so this must the tower ive been dreaming of. looking into this
A nice compact survey of Wright’s significant architecture demonstrating the breadth of his imagination, ambition and innovation using a solid selection of drawings and photos. The text focuses on describing each building; there’s no critique and the merest of biographical detail, but despite this, a good introduction to Wright’s legacy.
