I was given a copy of this book after attending a "wellness" seminar hosted by Dr. Briffa. The seminar was excellent and this book is similarly informative.

It offers a range of strategies which address physical & mental underperformance, or lethargies, from which so many of us suffer. I like the combination of logical explanations and sensible practical advice. Yes, you will have heard some of this advice before but the author really brings it together in a clear and motivating package. He also debunks various nutritional myths which is always important. Recommended.

Half of the book focuses on the primal diet of eating whole and natural foods with no carbs. The author discusses at length the primal diet developed by Dr Cordain, with a number of statistics.
However, nutrition is a very complex subject and is very personal specific especially if you have any medical issues, psychological problems and also depends on your genetic and physiology.

The author is not an experienced nutritionist and doesn't present all the data against a primal diet (or studies comparing more traditional healthy balanced eating habits) making it misleading. Let alone eating that quantity of meat isn't environmentally sustainable, the author doesn't seem to give two hoots about animal welfare neither.

The book also fails to mention eating meats with vegetables all the time is not only expensive, but also very boring and will sap you out of life!

Why then do the Japanese have one of the highest life expectancy with a staple diet of rice, cooked and pickled vegetables, fish and meat? Looks like a balanced diet to me.

The section on sleeping well, exercise, breathing and feeling good by doing good was ok, stuff you should know but don't do. Worrying the author advocates not wearing sunscreen with a few pages of explanation, again it is misleading. Regular high doses of sun does cause skin cancer. Actually the number one place to get skin cancer is scalp, face and nose, which is where you get most sun exposure.

Overall a fluffy book that has not been peer reviewed, that seems to offer bias and fake news.

I randomly started reading this after I seen it on a bookshelf in an airbnb I was staying at.

The book has lots of practical tips for making small changes to lifestyle to help with energy levels. I like the way it was written and am in the process of trying out a few of the ideas. Worth a read

I turned to this book as a link through another book The Miracle Morning, and wanted to read as I very rarely have a good day at the office in terms of my physical wellbeing.

Lots of good practical Information in here backed up with references. Certainly can see where the author is coming from. Putting some of it into practice may be challenging!

I bought this on the strength of Briffa's previous book "Waist disposal" which I love and (largely) live by so when I saw this book which offers up tips to, well, live more effectively, I was really interested and immediately bought it on Amazon - hard copy no less so I could make good old-fashioned notes in it. Imagine my disappointment to find so much of it is just a rehash of "Waist disposal". I feel like I've wasted my money and am disappointed that the author and publisher were not more open that so much of the content is recycled.

Food for thought on diet and being more alert during the day, basically it's mostly "know thyself"and "to thyself be true" but knowing how to find that self and truth may be work.

Watching what you eat, when and making sure you get sunshine and good food are all important components

Wish I had read this book before "The 4 hour body", as it was written almost 20 years before. Stuffed of useful informations and indications on how to improve the quality of living.
