Wildcat Hockey #5

Forever Wild

Rate this book
The annoyingly handsome hockey captain glaring at me needs my help.
He won't admit that, of course. But with his teammate's gone for the summer and him fresh off a season-ending injury, someone has to keep him in check and it's not the nurses he keeps running off.
I'm having one last summer of fun before I move away to start my first grown-up job, and I seem to be the only woman on the planet immune to his charm. Sure, l've noticed his chiseled jaw and sculpted muscles (Did I mention he's annoyingly handsome?), but I have too much self-preservation to fall for a grumpy hockey star who can have any woman he wants and doesn't do serious relationships.
Except once he lets me help him, I see past his broody exterior and jerk comments and I realize something terrible. I want him.
Now I just need to convince him to throw out all his rules for a fling with his teammate's little sister.

ARC REVIEW 💌

MY BABIES CAME HOMEEEE 🥳

You guys don't understand how long I was waiting for this!! and the stress of not not knowing if the fme was gonna be Everly (I was literally going through it)

Everly and Jack is (MY) couple I literally love them so much, their story was the way to end the series (I'm going to miss this series so much)

the chemistry and banter we've been getting from these two 2 books straight had me so ready and REBECCA DID NOT DISAPPOINT it was everything My babes (from her other series) was mentioned I literally screamed I did not see that coming

Their story and relationship is everything to me, the chemistry and banter with some ANGST was so good I'm so glad my favorites got their happy ending nobody gets sassy Everly like Jack do & THE NICKNAMEEE

Everly is my girl, since she first came to live with her brother in book 2, I love my sassy girl!

Jack has been my man and will forever be my man, love him to death!!

Quotes 💌

"Something passes between us. A heat and tension that I know I'm not making up in my head. He looks at me like he wants m the same way I want him."

"Everly doesn't hold back. I like that about her. She doesn't hide who she is or what she wants. And right now, she's a woman who wants me badly. The feeling is mutual."

"She's everything I shouldn't want and everything I crave."

"But I crave Jack in a dozen different ways. His words, his smile, his touch, just to name a few."

"Evil but fucking perfect. I can't get enough of it. All of it. Her teasing, her laughter, her default stubborn and sassy attitude, and the way she goes soft under my touch."

"You said you wanted to ruin me for other men. But there's no comparison. I'm yours too, Jack."

"I love you so much! That was incredible. Congratulations! I am so turned on right now."

Everly Kent drives me f—king wild. And she knows it.

Honestly, I don’t have the words to express how bittersweet this last installment of Wildcat Hockey was. I absolutely adored every single minute of it, and stayed up until 3AM reading it, but I’d be a liar if I said I’m not still a little sad about saying farewell to this crew. I’d read 100 Wildcat Hockey books if they existed.

Forever Wild is Jack and Everly’s story and it honestly ended the series with the perfect goodbye. Jack is in an extra moody space when this book starts and Everly is somehow the perfect person to drag his grumpy butt out of that mindset. The dynamic between these two has always been quick and electric, but in this book it became something entirely different because attraction and deeper feelings came out to play. I truly love them and am so glad Rebecca gave us this pairing. We get more background for the elusive Jack Wyld and we see Everly as her own person outside of Tyler’s little sister. I love that these two have so much in common without actually realizing how much they truly have in common. And their love. Sigh. If you’ve ever heard the song Better by Khalid that’s the feeling I get when I read their love.

FW is the last in the series and Rebecca perfectly weaves in that found family feeling this series has and sprinkles in bits and updates of the other couples/characters from the series without it feeling too much like the end. I swear I was feeling warm and fuzzy so often while reading this book.

While I’m definitely having a hard time accepting that it’s over, I’m also ok with this being the farewell since it was truly such an amazing one. The Wildcat Hockey series will always have a special place in my fictional loving heart and Forever Wild will definitely have a top spot in that special place.

*the Wildcat Hockey series is standalone, but in my very personal opinion this book will be enjoyed best if you read the whole series beforehand*

Forever Wild is book 5 in the Wildcat hockey series and I loved this one so much! I have loved the entire series and am sad it’s over now. This is a hockey romance with age gap, he’s grumpy x she’s sassy, teammate’s sister, forced proximity, healing from an injury.

Jack has been Captain for the Wildcats for 6 years, his team is his life and hockey is everything to him. The story starts off with him getting into a car crash and his injuries ending his (and his team’s) season. Now it’s summer and Jack is grumpily trying to heal up before he is needed back on the ice for the next season. Everly is the younger sister of Jack’s teammate Tyler (his book is Wild About You where we also first met Everly). Everly is spending the summer taking care of some of the team’s errands (house watching, plant caretaking, grabbing mail, etc) while they’re out of town and one of her tasks is checking in on grumpy Jack.

“She’s everything I shouldn’t want and everything I crave.”

I immediately loved Jack and Everly’s banter and the sass she delivers to him! She quickly finds herself spending a lot of time with Jack and I loved how they both start to feel more at the same time. Jack is always taking care of others and I loved seeing him being take care of instead and having someone there for him. Their relationship was so satisfyingly balanced and fun!

“God dammit, Everly. I’m not afraid of you getting attached. I’m afraid I will.”

I loved seeing all the teammates from the series make appearances in this book! The found family group they created on this team is so special and sweet. We also get to see her relationship with Jack’s dad (the books!) and Everly trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life/career. The sneaking around, the possessiveness, the pool time, so many great moments!

Another hockey romance from Rebecca Jenshak to OBSESSSSS over.

Jack is the kind of person who cares for everyone but wants nothing in return. He's responsible. Dedicated. And doesn't want to burden anyone. He gets in a car accident that ends his season, so he has to recover and doesn't let anyone in to help him. Everly is his teammates's sister and definitely too young for him. She's on break from college and housesitting for a few of her brother's teammates and decides to stop by Jack's place to check in on him and realizes he needs a lot more help than he's letting on. She doesn't take no for an answer from him and decides to hang around to make sure he's okay. And she slowly breaks down is brooding walls! This was just so good and I was obsessed with these two!!

I had so much high hopes for this book. After 4 books I just knew that these two were ending up together and was looking forward to their love story.

I knew from previous books, that Everly was a bit of a lost brat, but after four years, I expected her to have a solid head over her shoulders, not the sassy slutty brat that we got.
And since she's only 22 and this is an age gap of 10 years, well I guess the author was aiming towards YA who's only concern is to get laid and live up to their "independent woman" status.

“Hang in there, Ev,” he says. “You’ll find someone great.”

“I don’t want someone great. I want great sex.” I’ve always been able to separate sex from relationships, and I prided myself on being independent and not needing to be part of a couple to be happy. I believe that big, all-consuming love is out there. I mean, of course, I do. So many of my friends are madly in love, there’s no way I could deny it’s possible. But I haven’t sought it out. Everyone always says college is for having fun and finding yourself, and I took those words to heart. I always assumed I’d find love about the same time I started contributing to retirement.

And we've got ourselves a slutty MFC, let me hear your round of applause! 👏👏👏 And of course it's another book with the much worn out expression, independent woman! 🙄 God have mercy on my brain cells... and my retinas for that matter! 🙏

All we read about is how the last time he had sex was before the accident, a month ago! *gasp* what blasphemy!
How dare he not have constant sex and remain for such a looooong (a month mind you) period of time without it!!!!!
And then she comes along with thoughts like these 👇 as if the human being's only job on this earth is to get laid and add as many notches as you can on your bed.

"With more self-control than I seem to possess, he looks away. Thank god I have a date tomorrow night. If the best way to get over an ex is to get under someone new, then it can’t be that much of a stretch to assume the best way to stop fantasizing about my brother’s teammate is to sleep with a guy I met online."

Ok I'm out. DNF at 29%

Forever Wild is the perfect conclusion to the Wildcat Hockey series. I love everything Rebecca Jenshak writes but this one is top notch for me, there is everything spiciness, humour and emotions.

This is the story of the Wildcat's captain and one of his teammate's younger sister.
Between Jack and Everly there is an important age gap, but it didn't feel it because they are mature, sensible, and also stubborn, and they share esteem, admiration, and respect for each other. They are lovely together, and also their banters are endearing. I adored the chemistry and friction between them.

I loved to see Everly bulldozing into Jack's Summer, breaking havoc into his life. She didn't let him be grumpy and wallow in self pity, so while he worked to regain your strength, their relationship bloomed, becaming something more than brotherly affection.

It was also nice to meet again so many familiar characters and see how their lives are going.

I hope I conveyed all my excitement for this book into this few lines, even if I'm sure I didn't make it justice. It was fantastic. I read it in one day, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.
I highly recommend to read it and the whole series. You know what? I'm gonna reread it too.

EVERYTHING I WANTED AND MORE! Forever Wild is all that I love about this series- it's playful and fun, wonderfully character-driven, heartfelt and emotionally rich, and DELICIOUSLY sexy. Rebecca Jenshak saved the best, and most surprising, for last, and I could not put it down!

It's bittersweet but pitch perfect finale to this series I adore. I'm forever wild for these Wildcat Hockey heartthrobs and all the ladies who've brought them to their knees. And what a fantastic and unforgettable last hurrah!

Audio Re-read UPdate: The audio was fantastically produced and so delicious. Sebastian York and CJ Bloom are truly my dream team- two of my favorite narrators and both brought so much emotion and depth to the performance. Sebastian brings all the nuance and contrasts of Jack- his growliness and closed off wall but also his gentleness and stoic responsibility. And his HEAT. And CJ captured everything that I love about Ev. Her sass, her fire, her humor and boldness. But she also brings softness to Ev's vulnerable side, her insecurity and lostness and desperation to "fit" and belong. Gah, I loved both so much, and their vocal chemistry is fire.

RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
SPICE: 🔥🔥🔥

This book was everything I wanted from Jack and Everly and so much more. I don’t think I have words to express how much I loved this. Jack is grumpy perfection and Everly was his match in every single way.

I think I would have rioted if Jack and Everly had not been endgame. But they were and they were perfect.

🩵 Hockey Romance
🩵 Age Gap
🩵 Teammate’s Sister
🩵 Grumpy x Grumpy

OMG I think I highlighted like 400 things in this book. Jack and Everly have always been in each others orbit, and have always butted heads, but when Jack gets injured and everyone is gone, Everly goes to check on him and doesn’t let him wallow in peace.

The banter between these two is top tier, and I love that they pack absolutely no punches with each other. She sees Jack for Jack and no the superstar and she just gets him and gets underneath his walls in away he needs. She takes control when she needs to be stubborn and she gives it up just as easily when he needs her. They are so obviously perfect for each other and I think I muttered “I love them” at least a thousand times.

This book is perfect. I never want to leave my WildCat hockey era , but if I have to, Jack and Everly were the perfect ending. And speaking of ending… those epilogues… I don’t want to give anything away, but I was full on crying because it was the best ending and more than I could have asked for.

I was so excited to hear we were getting Jack and Everly’s story and even more excited to be chosen as an arc reader. This was amazing great yet bitter sweet ending to an amazing series.

Jack is grumpy and healing after a season ending injury and Everly was tasked to check on him by her friends since she was then only one in town during their summer break. Jack also happened the have the best pool so Everly just kept coming back, despite his constant grumpiness.

These two are really just perfect for each other. They compliment each other for the perfect balance. Jack had to learn to step back from his “captaining” and focus on his wants and needs. He definitely didn’t see one of his wants as being his teammate’s sister, but it sure happened.

This was such a fun story to read. There was grumpiness, fun banter, and the perfect amount of spice. I also loved seeing all the other characters being a part of this series ending. It was a great wrap up and I loved seeing Jack and Everly finally get there happily ever after. I’ll always highly recommend this series. I’m sad to see it ending, but I loved the reading experience.

Thank you Rebecca for sending me an early copy!

(ARC provided by Valentine PR)

Everly Kent just graduated college, and is looking forward to some time off before leaving for her internship. With real life starting soon she wants to relax and make the most of her summer. Her only plans are to lay out by the pool while taking care of her brother’s place while he’s out of town. When she’s asked to check in on a neighbor who’s going through a lot, things turn interesting. She’s known Jack since she was around eighteen and he’s always been protective of her, but they also tend to annoy each other. He needs help, but is struggling to stay in control. He’s gorgeous, but gets on her very last nerve at times with his grumpiness. As a crush develops she realizes she’d like to act on her attraction, but can she get out of the friend zone?

Jack Wyld is one of the biggest names in hockey. He’s the captain of an NHL team in Minnesota called the Wildcats. This year feels special, like they have something magical. They are talented, focused, and working hard to be ready for playoffs. Then he suffers an unexpected injury that derails the season. He’s now stuck in the house and recovery is slow. He’s frustrated and wants people to stop invading his space. Then his teammates little sister Ev shows up and complicates everything when he can’t quit thinking about her. She’s all grown up, and he can’t deny the spark between them. Will she remain off limits, or will he break all his own rules to go after what he wants?

Forever Wild (Wildcat Hockey Book 5) by Rebecca Jenshak is an age gap, forced proximity, teammates sister, friends to lovers, sports romance full of explosive chemistry, humor and fantastic banter. This was the last book in this fabulous series. I’ve loved this world and these characters so much! <333

I can’t believe this series is over and that we finally get Jack and Everly’s story - and what a story it was!

Forever is book five in the Wildcat series, and believe me - you truly need to give this series a try!

This book conquered my heart in the best way possible. Jack's character development was amazing, and I loved how he ended up obsessed with our Ev.

Jack nailed the close off main guy, and I love to see more about him. He is protective, a true captain, and the way he cares about the ones he loves is supreme.

Seeing Ev being there for Jack and showing him that he can ask for love as well was definitely my favorite part of this story. I love HER with everything in me - since her first appearance.

This couple's chemistry is, as well, extraordinary, and I was kicking my feet with every single interaction. THE BANTER !!

As Rebecca always does, this book is so addictive that you can't put it down, and I spent every single free time picking my Kindle and reading it 😂

I've gotta say that I'm disappointed with this book. As a standalone it is pretty good, the writing is solid, the characters are good and it's overall a solid sports romance. The biggest gripe i have is that this is not Jack and Everly from the other books.

There was tension for .5 seconds and their interactions right from the start felt very out of character. The previously established relationship is very possessive and dominant with each other, always fighting for control over each others lives and essentially just being control freaks about one another, but where was that? Where was Everly's fire and tenacity? Where was Jack's surly energy other than right after he got injured?

This book felt kinda like an expectation and a deadline to fill within the series, with no passion or understanding of how these characters actually felt about each other throughout the last 4 books. The Jack and Everly from Wild About You and the Jack and Everly from Forever Wild are very different people. I wish we could've sat with these characters before they hooked up for longer.

I would've probably given it 2 stars but the actual writing side was good so it makes up for it. I'd recommend reading it, but don't expect to read what they were like before.

This was everything I hoped it would be and so much more!! Finally getting this story soothes something in my reader soul that has been restless since I started the Wildcat Hockey series!

Jack and Everly shouldn’t want each other. As a matter of fact the quiet disdain they have for each other should keep them away from one another but the more time they spend together the more they question everything!

The pace of this story is perfect. Jack shows not just through words but his actions just how loyal and loving he truly is. Everly is such a strong female she is so sassy and doesn’t let Jack push her around. They show one another that you don’t have to be alone. Having a partner to get through life makes it worth living!

I love that the drama in the book was just enough to make it believable and no extra mess where it didn’t need to be!

We BEGGED for an Everly & Jack book, and Rebecca DELIVERED - this was PERFECTION 😍

📖 Forever Wild by Rebecca Jenshak

⭐️ rating: ♾️
🌶️: open door, several scenes

💭 overall thoughts:
This book had me so giddy & smiling constantly!

I loved the dynamic between grumpy Jack & sassy Everly.
The comfort they had with one another, and the moments of crossing the line in their minds and then in reality - loved it.

"I don’t like him looking at her and I especially don’t like him calling her hot. She’s not hot, she's Everly."

I’m generally not a fan of age gap because there are so many factors that can give me the ick - but this had absolutely NONE OF THEM 👏🏼👏🏼

I appreciated that the main “thing” holding them back wasn’t that he was her brother’s teammate or that they had an age gap, and that they didn’t dwell too much on either of those things (especially the age).

I could seriously go on and on about this series, READ THE WHOLE THING! You won't regret it.

🎙 12/2024 audio reread:
Forever Wild is narrated by CJ Bloom & Sebastian York, and they were amazing as Everly & Jack 😍 I love this duo!

Play Forever Wild By Rebecca Jenshak is the fifth book in the Wildcat’s Hockey Series.

This book exceeded all my expectations! From the moment Everly and Jack first crossed paths in "Wild About You," I was eagerly anticipating their story.

Jack is an amazing guy, always supporting his teammates and prioritizing others' needs before his own. He's truly the best Captain and the heart of the team.

Everly Kent is a force to be reckoned with. She's fierce, full of sass, and is everything I and more. She's definitely my favorite female main character in this series.

These two were made for each other. I've been cheering for them from the start, and if this book hadn't ended with them together, I would have been so disappointed. Their dynamic is fantastic, with their banter being my favorite part. Their relationship is sweet and undeniably sexy—after all, it's Jack Wyld we're talking about! This man is completely smitten with her.. 👏

Forever Wild was everything I wished for and more! Since binge reading the Wildcat Hockey Series earlier this year, I absolutely needed Everly and Jack’s book! I was instantly consumed by this couple and literally couldn’t put this book down!

Jack Wyld, the grumpy hockey team captain, and Everly Kent, his sassy teammate’s younger sister, were pushed together in the off season while he was recovering from an injury. Their banter was captivating and their clashing personalities only created more sparks. I admired the way Everly wasn't afraid to speak her mind and put Jack in his place when he was a jerk. I enjoyed her flirty comebacks and provocation toward him. It was so entertaining seeing him trying to resist his "temptress". Jack showing a little bit of jealousy in some moments was just so satisfying!

Their underlying attraction was so palpable and made the anticipation for the shift in their relationship more intense. These two were fire! I absolutely fell so hard for Jack. His feelings for Ev transformed him. Gone was the sullen guy and in its place was a devoted, sweet and protective man. He was respectful of Everly’s dreams and aspirations, knowing she wasn’t in the same stage of her life than him. I enjoyed the way they navigated their romance in a mature way. It doesn't mean there wasn't a little bit of struggle to see them end up together, but everything was a stunning process.

I loved seeing more of the whole Wildcat gang. This group is the epitome of found family!

Forever Wild is hands down my new favorite book in the series! It is a bittersweet feeling to let go of this wonderful fictional world and characters though! I'll for sure miss them, but this novel was such a brilliant finale!

i was so excited for this book, and it did not disappoint.

Everly and Jack were the most beautiful thing ever, both of them were stubborn as hell and wouldn't let anyone help them but each other. The cookies, the pool days and them just getting to know each other.

The hair scene OMG THAT'S INTIMATE. The books were extremely cute. Them just giving each other space? YES. JACKS WAS JUST OBSESSEDSTUPIDLYINLOVE with Everly.

There are a lot of things i loved about this book, but i was also expecting more of a group closure. Besides that, i absolutely loved it and they might be my favourite couple now.

- hockey romance
- brother's captain
- age gap
- forced proximity
- grumpy/sassy

I had the honor of beta reading this book and it's everything I wanted and more for Jack's book. Jack's book was last a reason. We need to growth from not only Everly but also Jack. Hockey is his life, he needed to see all his friends happy and in love to see that he deserved the same.

The book starts off during off season and while all of Jack's friends/teammates are off on vacation, he's at home doing physical therapy after a car accident at the end of the season. Everly just so happens to still be in town before she heads off for her internship and ends up hanging out with Jack all summer and helping him out. Her sassy and his grumpy balance each other out perfectly. But what I love the most about their relationship is that it was never that either one of them actually had feelings for each other until they started hanging out. I think that's why this age gap works well. It was never that they both had been pining for each other all these years. A great friends to lovers as well!

I'm so sad to see the Wildcat Hockey series end, this is truly my favorite hockey universe. But I'm sure Becca has so much in store for us. Hope everyone caught some of the foreshadowing of what's to come next!

This is the fifth installment in the Wildcat Hockey series, but it works beautifully as a standalone. I absolutely adored Everly and Jack’s story! Everly is the perfect spark to reignite Jack’s happiness. As the sister of Jack’s teammate, she steps in to help him after an accident, even though he’s reluctant to accept any help. Her persistence pays off, and as they spend more time together, their undeniable chemistry takes center stage. Jack slowly opens up, finding comfort in Everly’s warmth and unwavering support. Everly’s sunny disposition and selfless nature are genuinely heartwarming. The narrators do a fantastic job capturing Jack and Everly’s distinct personalities, highlighting their differences with great skill. If you’re looking for a hockey romance with the perfect mix of spice and heartfelt moments, this book is a must listen!

#Review: *Forever Wild* - Rebecca Jenshak [18+]
4.7/5✨
3/5🌶️

The cover of this book convinced me to apply for an ARC and I had this chance thanks to Rebecca and Valentine Pr💖.

This is a sports romance book, which includes the blossoming of a secret romance between Everly, the younger sister of hockey player Tyler, and Jack Wild, her brother's teammate and captain.

Everything begins when Jack becomes a grumpy man after an accident, from which he is currently recuperating. He was pushing away every person who supposed to be helping him, but his need to be alone was bigger at that moment. One day, he has a surprise guest at his door, which will hardly be persuaded to leave him be. That person was Everly.

Jack and Everly are known for not having the best relationship, bickering each other with every chance they've got. After spending a couple of weeks in close proximity, when Ev was practically trespassing to use his pool, that transformed in another kind of tension. One of lust, but neither of them will give easy into those feelings.

It was so lovely to watch Jack's transformation in Ev's presence. She brought out something from within him, a pure joy and determination, which was really good for him. They didn't even realize how close they got, until things became complicated, because Ev needed to move away to follow her passions. Everyone have seen how much Jack changed and that encouraged him to do anything to won Ev and make her his, for good.

I loved this grumpy/sunshine couple and enjoyed so much their little banter. Gave me that vacation vibes too, because of all those pool scenes🤣. I really recommend it🤗.

Whereas In Your Wildest Dream wasn’t what I expected Forever Wild had everything I hoped for. Age gap with amazing tension and chemistry. The banter between Everly and Jack was so freaking good. The simmering tension and slow burn was top notch.
The push and pull, the pining only had me feeling giddy and so excited for what’s to come.
Everly and Jack worked so well because they both had great character development and chemistry jumping off the pages. They had to work for their relationship and boy did they. Jack especially made me swoon big time. This couple was so cute and intense.
What a way to end the series.
