Travelers' Tales: The Road Within: True Stories of Transformation

Rate this book
The Road Within is a very different kind of travel book, a venture into the hidden territories of the human spirit and heart. It is a book of transformation, of lessons learned, maps drawn and burned, and spiritual blessings bestowed by that great and hard teacher: travel. It will show you what the great mystics and saints have always known - that you are closer to yourself, the world, and God, than you can possibly imagine, and that wondrous things await you on your journeys.

I'm moving this book to my "read" shelf. I have to say that I was really disappointed that it didn't pick up somewhat. I've read about 5 of the short stories and you would think that it would improve, but I don't know. I feel pretty ambivalent towards it. It's not one I would be quick to recommend.

Really enjoyed this book, one of the best I've found of the genre. The story about Sufi dervishes is especially memorable.

I've read this before, but decided to re-read parts of it. Put it back on the shelf for now.
Many interesting stories.

I wouldn't recommend it. Every other essay was worth reading. A few gold nuggets. Otherwise some good, some bad. Many just barely readable.

A collection of stories, some good; some not so much. I did underline some relevant quotes, and might go back to those ideas eventually.
