When his team gets bushwhacked by artifact smugglers, he finds something both less and more than what he expected. This story is set in Alastair Mayer's "T-Space" (terraformed space) universe, at a later date than the Jason Curtis adventures. Short story. This story was first published in the June, 2011 issue of "Analog Science Fiction and Fact" magazine. (Note, the content of this story also appears in the first few chapters of the novel "The Chara Talisman".)
