I write mostly fantasy, both short stories and novels. My third short story collection, On the Banks of the River of Heaven was published in November, 2010. My second novella with PS Publishing, The Heavenly Fox, was released in early 2011. I've been a finalist for both the World Fantasy Award and the Mythopoeic Award for Adult Literature.

I enjoy Richard Parks. He writes clever stories with a good sensibility. Set in the near future where science has discovered the energy field surrounding ghosts, our protagonist is a field researcher for the ghost bureau. His role is to understand problem situations, not necessarily as an exorcist. He is both perceptive about relations and the types of ghosts, but can be much less aware i his own personal relations. Writing ghost stories, whether set in ancient Japan or here in modern life seems to be a personal talent for Parks.

Reminiscent of Charles Stross--ghost detection, removal, and all of the needed equipment now has it's own government office complete with gifted and socially awkward employees. Main character is part scientist and part wizard. Interesting insights into what humans hold onto.
