This sequel to Shapechanger's Birth finds immortal shapechanger Mary McCarthy working to handle the near-runaway success of her criminal organization. She also encounters another shapechanger. And discovers that her kind are not always benign.
I'd give this 5 stars, but there's supposed to be a third book, "... Destiny" that doesn't appear to exist. There are other books, but the author just decided to drop this one? Not reading other works if this is what we can expect. Not as bad as a Timothy Ellis gamer reset, but kind of like dropping off the end of flat earth.
I gave three stars since it was well written however I found it to monotonous. The main character moves from city to essentially doing the same thing over and over again with minor variations. I won't be reading the next book in the series.
I did speed read over some of the descriptions of the environments. I live in Nye county Needs where prostitution is legal and I found the concept of organizing the prostitution for the better care of the workers to be worthwhile. The recommendations for expanding education of scientists is a worthy emerged (check out Ted talks). Read and enjoy the book for what it is.
Same stuff, different day. Grammatical errors. I must mention the error with the "bends". Nitrogen is absorbed by breathing compressed air at depth. Breathhold divers don't absorb so much and quickly ascending is not so important. Do your research.
Very imaginative. The characters are interesting and there is lots of Irish history. The abilities of the Mary character were really cool. Looking forward to more.
