Drew King is a force to be reckoned with both on and off the field. As the Dallas Mustangs All-Star Tight End and ultimate bad boy of the league, his antics have landed him in hot water more times than the paparazzi can count. But when his career is threatened by his repeat reckless behavior, Drew finds himself facing his toughest opponent yet—his own reputation.
Enter Chloe Tayler, a fiercely independent single mom and no-nonsense accountant who wants nothing to do with Drew and his bad boy persona. Having endured her fair share of disappointments in the past, Chloe has no interest in rescuing the man who tormented her in high school. But when her boss asks her to step in and help Drew during his time of need, Chloe reluctantly agrees, unaware that fate has other plans in store.
As Drew and Chloe find themselves thrust together in close quarters, old sparks reignite and forbidden desires ignite. But with Drew's career on the line and Chloe's heart guarded by walls of steel, can these two opposites find common ground? Or will their sizzling attraction only lead to more trouble?
Extremely disappointed in this book. The entire plot gave me the ick. It’s about the FMC falling in love with her former high school bully who made fun of her weight. The MMC also seemed extremely misogynistic and predatory. There are also weird references to people’s “color” and some Spanish phrases being used, but it bothered me because it wasn’t addressed as to why these references were made. I couldn’t tell if they were used innocently, which made them feel derogatory which was uncomfortable to read. Also I get that this was a novella, but the story was beyond rushed. The FMC and MMC moved extremely quickly in their relationship to a point of being insanity.
Taming Drew is another great steamy read by L.B. Burns, book 3 in A Bad Boy Anthology Story.
This is the story of bad boy and Dallas Mustangs All-Star Tight End Drew King who is always getting into trouble. When he ends up in the hospital with a concussion after an unfortunate bar fight (not his fault for once lol), he finds himself in close quarters with single mom and old school mate Chloe Taylor who was tasked to keep an eye on him. Only she doesn’t have fond memories of him… he was the head of the bully group that constantly made fun of her for being overweight. Drew of course remembers it a different way. Will she forgive him or will he fall back to his old ways hurting her even more?
Another epic story by L.B. Burns. While all her books are stand alone, the stories and characters intertwine in a way that keeps you up to date but yet wanting to hear more. I’m making my way through both of the Campbell family series mostly out of order and can’t get enough. This one in particular, I read in just one afternoon, barely putting it down. So many unexpected events and twists that I was always surprised and at one point I was actually teary eyed. I really can’t get enough of the Campbell family and can’t wait to read another!
Also, don’t miss out on the bonus chapters, they are very much worth the read!
Taming Drew is part of the multi author series A Bad Boy Anthology Story, but some of the characters are connected to the Campbell Series.
Drew was a bit of a jerk to Chloe when they were in high school. For some reason he thought tough love was the way to go with a highschooler. I get he was trying to be helpful while growing up but teenagers aren't the most receptive to criticism, so he really needed to think things through. Even years later, he still thinks he was being helpful. He was kind of dense in that regard. However, for what he lacked in that department he did make up in the caring department when he finally allowed himself to open up fully.
Chloe really gave Drew a piece of her mind and I absolutely loved that about her. She wasn't going to take any of his nonsense now that they were older. But being in close proximity to someone, makes the feelings develop more than you would think. She was a great person and just wanted to be a great mom and put her child first. I liked that about her. She was a strong and determined person and really knew how to put Drew in line.
I loved returning to the Campbell’s world! Even if it’s not directly about a Campbell, having Campbells make an appearance is always a win! This is a fast, shorter story that drew me in right away and I really liked the enemies to lovers, second chance plot. However, I wished that Drew had to do a little more atoning and self-reflection for his past behaviour and the way he treated Chloe in the past. I wanted him to really understand how talking about her weight was never ok and what he did wasn’t motivating at all. Later in the book he mentions how she could lose some weight again and that didn’t sit well with me, but it was just a blip in my own opinion and doesn’t take away from the story and my overall enjoyment of it. Chloe is a strong single mother who still has insecurities, but always wants to put her child first no matter what. Their relationship moves fast, and a couple times it seems like they haven’t really talked through things to get to know each other as they are today. I would have liked a little longer if a book to explore more of the relationship growth, but as it is, it was a fun, quick, engaging and enjoyable read by one of my favourite authors.
This book is a quick, easy and engaging read. Drew is a bad boy of football….highly paid but always seems to get in trouble. When he is injured in a bar fight, his manager sends someone to look after him and he comes face to face with the girl he liked in high school. Chloe is dismayed to find that the person she is helping on behalf of her friend is none other the her high school bully. Let’s just say there is a whole lot of tension between them and Chloe has learned to stand up for herself and speak her mind. I loved Chloe’s snark, her confidence and her feistiness. Drew is like a great big teddy bear who sometimes bumbles along, gets in trouble and wonders what he did wrong. He is a good guy at heart, but rather careless and impulsive in his actions. He falls hard for Chloe and her daughter and wants nothing more than to make them his. He just has to convince Chloe to lower her guards and let him in. They certainly generate lots of heat and steam, but can they learn to trust each other.
I will happily recommend this rather endearing book. Enjoy!
Wonderful story, it’s a sort of enemies to lovers/bully read in the fact that Drew and Chloe knew each other in high school and Drew picked on Chloe, fast forward ten years and Drew is in the emergency dept. having been diagnosed with a mild concussion and as he’s a member of the Mustangs, his agent Lily asks her employee Chloe to take him home and wait with him whilst she finds someone to stay.
Finding no one available, she accepts the job of staying and they talk, he never knew how much he’d upset her in his adolescent rambling and apologises to her which starts a new understanding between them.
Honestly couldn’t put this bad boy down, plenty more drama ensues and I loved every moment.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is my own opinion and was not influenced by anyone.
Novella that reads quickly. Drew is the bad boy bully who made Chloé's life in hih school horrible. Now both grown, Drew needs Chloe and he transform into a wonderful partner and family man.
Not a bad read. This is my first book by LB Burns. I read through in one sitting. While the characters are interesting, I want more of their world. I like to read and feel apart of the characters' world. Will read another to see how the author continues it.
Found this book and author through the 'Bad Boy Anthology' and what a great wee read it is. Chloe gets more than she bargained for when she was asked to do a favour for her workplace and ended up in a awkward situation with her high school bully unexpectedly. But would it all be the same or would things have changed? Drew is a renowned ladies man with a not so squeaky clean reputation, but what will happen when he his past comes to his door? Lovely little sweet read with a good storyline. *Read as part of KU*
Taming Drew by LB Burns Bad Boys Anthology series 📚ARC Review📚 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is a fast paced book because it is a novella. Drew was Chloe’s high school bully. 10 years later they end up I. The same town and circumstances lead Chloe into spending the Drew with him to take care of a concussion. Things quickly got steamy and lead to more. I enjoyed Freya’s character and how she played a part in the storyline.
This is book 3, of the "Bad Boy Anthology." This is another Sport romance, that I couldn't put down. This was a page turner. 💓 Drew and Chloe. This book has Paparazzi, reckless behavior, single mom, don't know what to do with him, was mean to her in school, spark reignite, opposite attract, bad image playboy, curvy single mom, short, fast book, well written, action pack, entertainment, funny, HEA, steamy, romantic, and so much more. Good book.
I love this spin off read from the Campbells and I loved hearing about some of my favourite family members. This quick read is about Drew and Chloe. Chloe was bullied by Drew in school and are thrown back together as adults. As an adult, Drew is the bad boy playboy football player and Chloe is the responsible adult, adulting. The two make the perfect couple and I loved reading their story. The chemistry is hot between the two of them and I devoured this book in one sitting!
Drew the playboy with a bad image. Chloe the curvy single mom with self doubt and no stranger to Drew. They went to school together and he was not very nice to her. Now she is the one person that may be able to help him with his image. She has no idea what she has agreed to or what comes with being with Drew. Short fast paced but not bad. 3.75
Most definitely recommend this book. All American bad boy turn family man is right up my alley. I just loved seeing the transformation Drew made. Watching him recognize his mistakes he made with Chloe during high school and doing everything to right his wrongs made me love him more. I can’t wait to see what their future holds as a family.
Bad boy Drew from the Mustangs football team is always in the spotlight for his antics from bar fights to escapades with women. Until he gets hurt and his publicist sends her coworker to care for him, and she is the girl he picked on in high school. Sparks fly, tempers flare, desire abounds.
First, know I am totally obsessed with the Campbell series so I didn’t think these could be anywhere close to those. Boy was I wrong!!! I’m also a sucker for sports romance and this series is at the top of my favorite list. I can’t wait to read the rest of them! LB is totally a one click author for me!
This is a fast paced book about the FMC getting bullied by the MMC in school. She becomes an accountant and he becomes a pro athlete. They meet again when her boss has her become his accountant. This is a good book that has steam, whirlwind romance and hea.
This was such a good story! Drew went from a Bad Boy to settled down in no time thanks to Chloe! This was a well written story and the characters were well developed!
Drew was a bully in high school. Now he’s grown up and he’s an athlete. Now with a bad boy persona. He needs help with it . Chloe is a single mom. She’s an accountant. Funny how life is. Now he need h r help so save his image. Fast past with this one.
I loved this little twist on the bad guy turned good, the connection these to have along with their past is amazing and the way he loves her and loves her child is beautiful. A swoon worthy read for sure and I can’t wait to read more of the Dallas mustangs 😘🩵
He was her bully in high school and when they met again years later he told her he only fat-shamed her because he liked her and he knew she'd have a hard life if she didn't lose weight. Are you kidding me?
Drew and Chloe's story is so well told. I really enjoyed this story. This story is part of the Bad Boy anthology. I highly recommend this story. Earning four stars from me!
Drews reputation off the field has gotten him into some hot water over the years but this time his actions have more consequences. Chloe is a single mum and an accountant whose good at her job, but when her boss asks her to help out Drew in other ways, she's steadfast against helping her hig school tormentor but could something more blossom between them? Well written engaging fast paced, steamy, sports romance.
Chloe and Drew have a pass that it effective her. Now Drew needs to improve his reputation and Chloe works for his PR that has to help him. Highly recommend this fantastic football romance with a single, bad boy, sizzling attraction, and forced proximity!
I was lucky enough to be allowed to read this ARC and it was a pleasant surprise. Although short in which I finished reading in an hour and a half, the story sure packs a lot in! A steamy fast passed whirlwind of a romance including a curvy girl and a pro athlete was great to read as a fellow curvy girl.
Thankyou!
