I just did not like this. He goes to bdsm sex clubs and watches and gets pleasure but he says he never laid with a woman since they married. To me its a little iffy. Its like looking at porn or something. I just didn't like the whole premise of the book. I didn't find it romantic.

Honesty and Trust are the Foundations of Love…..
This was the story of Julius and Louisa and their reconnection after he left her right after their wedding for a whole year. They planned a 6 month trial period, but once they started spending time together it was obvious that they both wanted it to work. They set a rule of honesty at all times, and that was the best foundation for them to truly learn about one another. I loved the characters within the story. The main characters were well developed, and I really felt like I had a good understanding of both of them. The gradual progression of their friendship as well as their intimacy made their love believable by the end of the story when they got their happy ending.
This is a steamy story with lots of unexpected suspense and intrigue. There are definitely a few subplots going on with the love story, but ultimately they get the HEA. It was a good read, and I would recommend if you are okay with multiple drawn out sex scenes and multiple storylines.

Ho schivato questa autrice per mesi e mesi, messa sull'avviso da presentazioni che avrebbero voluto essere accattivanti ma rivelavano lati (per me) sgradevoli dei suoi romanzi... finché, attratta dal prezzo basso, mi son lasciata andare all'acquisto, pentendomene troppo tardi.
Perché all'inizio la storia non sembra così male. Ma più avanti, quando le scene hard si incrociano con una pruderie eccessiva (vediamo un po', il tizio DBSM addict, a distanza di un anno dal suo matrimonio morganatico non ha mai avuto rapporti con altre donne, neppure a pagamento, pur frequentando abitualmente club 'esclusivi'?), quando i due protagonisti perdono coerenza e si imbarcano in una zoppicante avventura, dove si gioca con le pistole come se fossero freccette, ho capito che sì, si trattava di un 'incauto acquisto'. Fortuna che mi è costato meno di un euro.

Ughh.. this book is not good… I just cannot get into in.. Louisa marries Julius after he returns from the war because he needed a wife, but he leaves the day after their wedding for an entire year to go take a care of his sick sister… Louisa had no prospects because apparently she’s overweight? It is mentioned so much in the book… However, have you seen the cover of this book?
When Julius finally comes back, instead of them taking time to get to know each other, he decides to show her that he likes kinky stuff in the bedroom and spanks her like the third day he’s home. It’s all over the place after that with no real connection between the two of them. I put this book down so many times over 3 days to do other things.
65% I just gave up. DNF

Abandoned, why?
This is an interesting book, but you should know it’s not for those that don’t like bondage and spanking. After you get past that,Louise is abandoned after the wedding, no idea why, and Julius feels so guilty about what he did while in service during the war, and for leaving and not explaining why! But the road to there happy ever after is somewhat bumpy!

I was flying through this and enjoying it but the last 70 I was so bored and confused at how quick everything was happening. I definitely skimmed the end and didn’t bother reading the bonus extended epilogue cos I just didn’t care anymore.
I may continue with this authors work to see if this was just a bummer or maybe this author isn’t for me?

The hero must marry for his title, but he has many monsters within himself from his war experience. The heroine is given a bad reputation due to her husband abandoning her after their wedding. When they meet again healing slowly happens. It was a good read with some emphasis on PTSD.

This is a very good book some of the physicians yet his wife and son interesting if you’re into that stuff story is full deception. We just can’t see it until toward the end.

Love comes to you
The ravages of war affect everyone differently and in this story it is the main reason for the hero to overcome. It was covered well and being a major theme in this story and it’s affects.

Good hot romance
The poor Duke had so many problems that I was glad when the duchess decided to help him with them. Because of her loving caring disposition everything worked out for them finally after a year they consummated their marriage. I loved the characters of this book

Extraordinary Wonderful!
Love this story and their two amazing characters of Julius and Louisa. He believed himself broken after the war. She felt abandoned and betrayed.
Together they learned what truly mattered in life and they became unstoppable!!!! Highly Recommend.

February 9, 2025I couldn’t finish this. The sex scenes were good and the writing was fine, but the inaccuracy of it all. Sharing a room? Eating breakfast and dinner in their dressing gowns? The way the servants spoke to them. I couldn’t get past it.

50 pages in I had to abandon this book because it was very badly written. A waste on time.
