A sneaky new release from May Alder, “Back Seat Baby,” is a step-siblings romance. It’s a quick one, but like the other May Alder books I’ve read, they are surprisingly not just super hot but well-developed. I’ve read many short, insta-lust, smutty stories, and I have to say that May Alder’s writing is top-tier for these types of books. “Back Seat Baby” is what it is. The step-siblings have a forbidden relationship and do their thing in the back seat, vacationing with their family. The step-bro has a “breading” —that thing that shall not be named—and the result is, well, see the title.

The heat factor — this novella knew exactly what audience it was writing for and did not hold back

DISLIKES:
Samir's obsession with breeding her was… a lot. Not bad, just dialed to 300% when 150% would’ve still gotten the point across lol

Their years of mutual secrecy felt unnecessary — this honestly would’ve hit harder as a “final fling before college” or a “we both snapped during a quiet car ride” moment

The dad not realizing what was happening in the backseat? Absolutely wild. Sir, how do you parent with that level of obliviousness??

More smutty goodness from this MF writer with a step-sibling novella. The cramped back seat in a three seat SUV filled to the brim with moving boxes is where most of the action occurs. Antagonist stepbrother and stepsister have to sit together on a cross country family move. The h finds it impossible to get comfortable with her tall, muscled, lacrosse playing stepbrother taking up most of the room.

Things start heating up as H pulls her onto his lap and massages her to get the cramps out. She is shocked by the kindness and does not pull away. Things escalate when leggings and gray sweatpants are pulled down. Ahh, gray sweatpants on a hung man.

Of course I kept reading this smut fest.
The writing was good and the story had a lot of heart. The siblings have personalities and are well written. This is a dual POV novella and it turns out that stepbro has loved stepsis since meeting her as a teenager. She likes him a lot, too, under the antagonism.

He is following her to college and has quite the plan for them to be together. Step 1: Get her pregnant.
OTT plot point, but h after some initial resistance is on board because monster cock has made her lose her mind! No, she actually wants it and he has a business minded head with the plans and money for them to get married and live together. Their parents are periphery characters, but were written very nicely and likable.

This was a nice read.

I read a few of these author's novella's and this was probably my fave of those I read. But I still wouldn't shout it from the rooftops, ya know?

Two step siblings forced to share a cramped back seat when their parents fill their cars to the max to move to a new state. And let's just say, things spring up when hidden in such tight quarters.

It was fun. Entertaining. The mindless read I was looking for. You have to just go with it. I'm all for that sneaking around taboo lust and tension. I struggled with how much older they seemed than their ages though. It was weird for me to read a breeding kink in teenagers off to college. And it ends abruptly too. But an entertaining palate cleanser overall.
