考古學家在埃及發掘出一萬年前的特異石環，經過主角的破譯，發現石環原來是個可以通往其他星系的「星際之門」。原來埃及曾由外星人統治，外星統治者的科技能量來自數百萬光年遠的星球上所生產的白色礦石。統治者並擄走一批人到那特異星球上去為他採礦。一次，趁著統治者外出的機會，埃及人推倒了石環，將外星統治者隔絕在數百萬光年遠的星球上，但那裡還有一批一萬年前埃及人的後代，等著主角們去帶領他們推翻暴政。
埃及金字塔引發許多神奇的想像，特別是外星科技。但像《StarGate》這種想像性的科技，呈現在電影，觀眾多半只能得到粗略的印象(或許因為這個想像本身就是粗略的)。即使形諸文字，如本書，其表達也無法讓我完全了然。不過，光從故事輪廓所看到的創意，就已經夠引人入勝了。

this book was ok but i still liked the story it didn't have much deatials. the book talks about a god called Ra but he wasn't a god he lied to the people.here is how the story starts 1928 Cairo, Egypt there is a man called daniel he was an archeologist he was the youngest archeologis.daniel speaks 11 died languges.daniel had crazy ideas nobody belived him.One day daniel was in a meeting he told people that the egyptians didnot build the pyramids but he had some evidence why did the egyptians changed the writing from drawing to writing that was one of his evidence.one day daniel found a job in the army.daniel help the army to read the signs and it said"a million years into the sky is ra,sun god and the last word was star gate.daneil found the seventh sign and the started the star gate.the men found themselve in anthor place.daniel meets a women from the this place ,he likes that girl.the defet ra the poeple discover ra is not a god.i didn't like this book because it didn't have alot of details and it end to fast and to easy.

A Penguin Readers Level 3 book take me a few hours to finish reading. I feel like I can understand the story more than watching the movie.

I do not know what I expect, but it was not a summary of the 1994 movie. Though it was a well written summary.
