Vigilante turned cop Lexi Winter is drawn into the investigation of a chain of apparently random murders. As the bodies pile up, Lexi realises there is nothing random about them - she has become a pawn in a psychotic - and deadly - game. A breathtakingly fast-paced and compulsively gripping crime thriller from a rising star.
When Constable Lexi Winter was contacted by her old nemesis, the brutal murderer, Damon Vaughn, telling her to play a "game" with him, where she had to find the fifth victim before they died, and Vaughn would turn himself in, her superiors were against her agreeing. But agree she did as she was determined to put this person behind bars forever. The Central Coast of NSW was where Lexi and her team operated from, and with Vaughn once again back in the area, it meant all eyes were on the lookout for him. But when teens began hallucinating, seeing things they believed to be there, Lexi and her team knew things had escalated in a frightening way.
Desperation dogged the team, with the media hot on their heels; a website Vaughn had started gaining thousands of followers and hate mail followed. Lexi was bombarded by delusional people who believed the police were in the wrong, and Vaughn was being harassed. Little did they know. Worse was to come and the race was on, with only days remaining until the endgame. What would be the outcome for all involved?
Endgame is the 4th and final episode in the Lexi Winter series by Aussie author Sarah Barrie and was an absolutely phenomenal ending to a brilliant series! I've loved the characters, especially Lexi in all her forms, along with colleagues, Finn, Linc, Cass and Rachael, plus Cait and Lexi's bikie mate Zander. I'll miss this series but I'm sure that Ms Barrie has something else up her sleeve, which I'm keen to read. Highly recommended.
With thanks to NetGalley & HQ Fiction for my digital ARC to read and review.
EXCERPT: 'I've completely lost my faith in humanity! How did we drift so far from basic common sense? I'm speaking directly to the misguided contingent who sit quietly on their hands and say nothing while Vaughan brutally takes life after life and have the nerve to cry injustice at Constable Winter for holding him accountable! Can any of you please explain to me how the woman devoting every waking moment to protecting the public is the villain? Anyone who thinks Damon Vaughan is some sort of saviour to humanity or deserves a free pass on his vile crimes because of his psychoses needs to seek their own therapy! It seems that, to the more gullible among us, being compassionate, understanding and sympathetic towards these twisted perpetrators has taken precedence over protecting the innocent!'
ABOUT 'ENDGAME': Lexi Winter is studying for her detective exams but her nemesis Vaughn is out there somewhere and her concentration is fractured. Just as she's wondering if her hypervigilance is tipping over into madness, Vaughn resurfaces and issues a challenge. Five people will be dead by the end of the month. If Lexi can identify and save the last one before the deadline, he'll turn himself in.
As Lexi's colleagues scramble to untangle what it all means, Lexi is implicated deeper and deeper into the murders. On top of this, she begins to see a strange figure everywhere she goes. Branded as suffering from PTSD, Lexi's credibility is in tatters with her colleagues, but Lexi knows it isn't her mind that is the problem. A wicked game is afoot, and Lexi is just a chess piece in play - and she suspects that check mate will mean her death. There is only one thing that Lexi can do - play along, wait for the chance to strike back, and bring about the endgame...
MY THOUGHTS: WARNING - if you have heart issues, make sure you have your pills on hand when reading Endgame. You'll need them. I don't have heart issues, but at times my heart was beating so hard and so fast while I was reading, I thought it was going to jump right out of my chest! In fact, even writing this review is increasing my heart rate.
And another note - you do need to have read the previous three books in this series before Endgame, or you're not going to have Lexi's backstory or her history with Vaughan. Both are essential to reaping the full benefit from Endgame, which is apparently the 4th and final installment of this series.
Where to start? There is no pussyfooting around here. Endgame is blunt and brutal and honest. There is no PC bullshit here. Barrie tells it like it is. She puts into words what so many of us think.
Lexi has led an unconventional life, been places I certainly wouldn't have wanted to go, yet that's part of her appeal. That she has a wide range of experience is one way of putting it. She's street smart and sees herself as staunch, suppressing her emotions. But really, she's like a French baguette - hard and crusty on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside.
Endgame is full of action from beginning to end. It may not be entirely realistic, but it certainly is thrilling, dark and gritty. If this is indeed the end of the series, I'm going to miss Lexi.

MEET THE AUTHOR: In a past life, Sarah worked as a teacher, a vet nurse, a horse trainer and a magazine editor, before deciding she wanted to write novels. About the only thing that has remained constant is her love of all things crime. Her favourite place in the world is the family property, where she writes her stories overlooking mountains crisscrossed with farmland, bordered by the beauty of the Australian bush, and where, at the end of the day, she can spend time with family, friends, a good Irish whiskey and a copy of her next favourite book. DISCLOSURE: Thank you to Harlequin Australia, HQ & MIRA, via NetGalley for providing a digital ARC of Endgame by Sarah Barrie for review. All opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own personal opinions.
I can’t believe that this is the 4th and final Lexi Winter book 🥲 I have loved all of them but I really think that this might be my favourite of all. The ending was just perfect. It is a dark and thrilling finale that I am sure fans of the series will be happy with.
Lexi’s sworn enemy, Vaughn is back and lays down a challenge for her - 5 people dead by the end of the month and if she can stop the last one he will give himself up. This is one sick and twisted serial killer, amongst other things, he really is a vile human being. He really plays with our favourite vigilante turned police officer. She really does struggle in this one, thankfully she has a great team around her.
I don’t advise that this be read as a stand-alone story. You really need to read these books in order to get a real understanding of Lexi and why she is the way she is. She has a heart of gold and will do anything for anybody, regardless of the danger it puts herself into. We have watched her grow so much through the 4 books and I am sad that it is over now. Hopefully Sarah Barrie will bring her back one day in some for,.
Thanks so much to Harlequin Australia for my advanced reading copy of Endgame. Out on October 30th.
Plot: Vigilante-turned-cop Lexi Winter is pulled into a series of seemingly random murders, only to discover she's been caught in a deadly, calculated game. As the bodies mount, Lexi races against time to uncover the truth in this intense and fast-paced crime thriller.
My Thoughts: Sarah Barrie has done it again! I've fallen in love with Lexi for the fourth time, and once again, she’s a force to be reckoned with.
Lexi is determined, relentless, and unstoppable.
Set in Australia, which I absolutely love, the story had me chuckling along while keeping me on the edge of my seat.
If you're looking for a captivating crime series, the Lexi Winter books are a must-read—full of humour, thrilling twists, and a true celebration of girl power.
WOW this one had my heart in my throat so many time, I have been eagerly awaiting this one and chose a time to read it knowing I wouldn’t be interrupted because I knew once I picked it up I wouldn’t be able to put it down and that is what happened, Lexi has come a long way since book one in this awesome series she is part of the taskforce enabled to catch her arch nemesis, pedophile and murderer Damon Vaughn, when he contacts her and wants to play a game with her, a very dangerous game but as we know Lexi there is no way she will not play with the end being to finally catch him before he gets her.
Set on the Central Coast of NSW the team are together doing all they can to find him, there have been some murders already in this dangerous game and Lexi, Finn and Rachael and the team are doing all they can to stop them before he gets to the end of the game but there are some teenagers causing havoc as well using some sort of drug that has them hallucinating and there have been deaths amongst this group as well, could it be linked to Vaughn, Lexi is not sure but she must also do what she can to save these kids and the drug squad is called in as well.
Vaughn has pulled the media in and painted Lexi as a bad cop as well as the team there is a big divide of followers supporting Vaughn and hating Lexi this all adds to the danger but Lexi will never give up and the days are running out to finish this game and finally have Vaughn were he should be, the bodies are mounting up and Lexi has never felt this bad before, caring Cait adds pressure to the situation, how will this all turn out, will they get Vaughn or will he get Lexi?
This is the final book in this series and the ending was perfect each book in the series just gets better and this one rocks I absolutely loved it from start to finish I love the characters that I have come to know throughout the series, I have cheered them on and sat on the edge of my seat with fingers crossed that everything turns out OK, MS Barrie is a brilliant author who brings her characters to life on the pages and pulls her readers into the story and as always I look forward to what is to come next and maybe we will see Lexi again.
Thank you MS Barrie for another awesome story, one that I highly recommend, this series is a must read for any reader who loves a good crime thriller.
My thanks to HQ Fiction and Netgalley for my copy to read and review.
The 4th book to feature Lexi Winter, a one-time escort, exotic dancer, paedophile victim and total badass. She has completely embraced her role in the police force and has the added responsibility of being carer for Caitlin.
This is expected to be the last book of the series and, consequently, we get a tense thriller that ties up some of the loose ends left during the course of the previous 3 books. The main loose end is Damon Vaughn who is a sick serial killer and peddler of kiddie porn.
He emerges from the shadows in which he’s been hiding since Lexi beat him in (book 1) to propose a “game” with Lexi. He explains to her that he plans to kill 5 people before the end of the month, culminating in killing Lexi herself. He has given her the chance to solve the crimes, work out the pattern and stop him from carrying out his plans. If she’s successful he promises to yield to her. Failure, obviously, means Lexi’s death.
Finn, Lexi’s colleague and subject of a “will they or won’t they” type of relationship, is now dating Olivia and Olivia is clearly displaying obvious signs of rampant jealousy. I’ve got to say at this point, for a high-performing psychologist, Olivia’s a bit of a headcase. Needless to say, the atmosphere in the office and out in the field is somewhat tense. In fact, Lexi specialises in putting her colleagues on notice with her intensity and straight ahead approach to policing. It’s what makes her a pleasure to follow.
The ghost of a teenage rape victim who committed suicide many years before appears to be haunting the local population. Her appearance occurs just before one of the five proposed victims. This game that Lexi has agreed to play quickly becomes a very weird and very tense affair.
The murder count builds up, Vaughn’s taunting continues at a very annoying rate, and we’re clearly heading towards a monumental showdown between the two main antagonists.
Endgame is the end of a strong police procedural series that manages to draw the reader in with a frank and clear descriptive narrative, well described characters and a devious criminal. There were times when the plot became slightly convoluted but this in no way detracted from the story which flies along at a brisk pace.
I’ve been there for all four of the Lexi Winter books and have enjoyed the development of all of the main characters. Personally, I think you’d be best to have read the preceding books to get the most out of Endgame or, at the very least, Unforgiven (book 1). This will provide a much clearer picture of the history between Lexi and Vaughn.
My thanks to HQ Fiction and NetGalley for providing me with a digital ARC allowing me to read, enjoy and review this book.
Endgame is a fitting conclusion to Sarah Barrie's tetralogy featuring vigilante-turned-maverick cop Lexi Winter.
Lexi and her colleagues Finn and Linc are drawn in as bystanders when a young local footballer is found dead, apparently the result of suicide, in bush-scrub behind (fictional) Jenny Dixon Beach. The beach and adjacent reserve are associated with a spooky local legend, and the young boy who discovered the body has a mysterious tale to tell. Lexi's ward, Cait, moved in the same circles as the deceased Bobby Walker, who it transpires had a shady history regarding his treatment of young women.
No sooner has Lexi returned home with Cait than she realises that she's being stalked by her nemesis Damon Vaughn, a psychopath who can't accept that Lexi thwarted him (in Unforgiven) and is out for revenge. Vaughn broadcasts his evil plans to kill five people by the end of the month, part of a twisted game in which he hopes to engage Lexi. When people connected to Vaughn's prosecution for child sex trafficking start dying, and Lexi's own family members are threatened, the Gosford-based task force realises that Vaughn is in deadly earnest. Despite the considerable personal risk, Lexi insists upon remaining on the case, and is reluctantly supported by her boss, D.I. Rachael Langley, in doing so.
Endgame is a high-paced, enthralling crime thriller. Lexi is an engaging protagonist, supported by an able team of police and other characters, including her 16-year-old ward, Cait. The dialogue is snappy and the settings on NSW's Central Coast well developed.
I'd highly recommend Endgame, and all the novels in Sarah Barrie's Lexi Winter series to any reader who enjoys action-packed gritty crime thrillers with great characters and occasional flashes of black humour. The series is a departure from Barrie's previous published work, which falls into the romance and romantic-thriller genres, but has proven to be a tour de force. I know I'm not alone amongst her legion of loyal fans in hoping that she's got another similarly gripping series in the pipeline, now that this one has reached a conclusion.
My thanks to the author, Sarah Barrie, publisher Harlequin Australia, HQ (Fiction, Non Fiction, YA) & MIRA and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this title.
This was a bittersweet read for me because I'm quite attached to main character Lexi; this is the fourth and final book in the Lexi Winter series. I would strongly recommend reading the whole series in order. This one is an action heavy conclusion to the series with a final showdown happening between Lexi and her nemesis, predator Damon Vaughn, who is publicly taunting Lexi with a game involving murders. As if this is not enough drama, local teenagers are also dying after seemingly being haunted by a ghost. As with previous novels in the series, the violence is broken up with some dark humour (usually from Lexi) which works so well. A page turner to the very end, I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
I've really enjoyed this gritty, fast-paced series, and this 4th (and final?) instalment is no exception. It is very dark, violent and action-packed - all the things that hooked me in at the start - but there were a couple of things about this story that didn't sit well with me. Firstly, the behaviour of the young men was repulsive. That's a strong word, but they were pretty extreme. The other thing was the whole concept of fandom or fanaticism that developed around the villain. I just didn't buy it, even in this social media age.
What I did like about the story, very much, was the continued character development of Lexi as she transitioned from police officer to detective, and also from lone wolf to parent. The ending wrapped up very nicely, so if this is farewell to Lexi & Co, we can all be content with the outcome, but I thought it was left sufficiently open for her to return in the future.
With thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Australia/HQ Fiction for an eARC to read and review.
I was so excited for another Lexi Winter instalment that I jumped at the opportunity to read this one straight away. It did not disappoint.
Lexi Winter is back and so is Damon Vaughan. He is out to get revenge on Lexi but not without some mind games first and of course a few deaths along the way. He plans to kill five people before the end of the month unless Lexi can figure out the pattern and save victim five.
We do get two mysteries in one with this novel and I enjoyed reading them both. Cait has made friends but Lexi is worrying about her due to one of the group committing suicide and a new drug on the streets making kids very unpredictable.
This book gripped me until the very end. Lexi is one of those characters I will always read and enjoy. It was a fast paced read and I couldn't put the Kindle down even while travelling. I enjoyed all the old familiar faces like Finn, Zander, Rachel but also enjoyed the new characters. I always wish for more Dawny. The Lexi Winter series will be one of my all time favourites. I recommend reading this series from book one.
A big thank you to Harlequin Australia and Netgalley for my honest book review.
Endgame is the conclusion to the Lexi Winter series written by Australian author, Sarah Barrie. The whole series has been absolutely thrilling, and Endgame is an action-packed, heart-pounding finale! The series explores the evolution of Lexi’s behaviour and skills, as she matures and learns to trust her Gosford police colleagues and friends. Rachael, Finn, Cass and Linc are back in this instalment, along with Cait. Endgame continues with the Vaughn and Lexi backstory from previous books, so should not be read as a stand-alone. Vaughn is back taunting Lexi and is out for his revenge. What ensues is a violent, dark and gritty story with an amazing ending. Thanks to Good Reading for my Advance Reader’s Copy. I highly recommend this book for crime thriller fans.
Endgame by Sarah Barrie is a heart-pounding conclusion to a thrilling series that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The fourth book in the Lexi Winter series, it masterfully blends suspense, tension, and complex characters, with Lexi’s journey taking center stage once again. Lexi is a police officer battling both external threats and the emotional weight of her past. In this final installment, she faces her arch-nemesis, Damon Vaughn, a dangerous predator who has resurfaced, determined to destroy her. Meanwhile, Lexi is fostering a troubled teen, Cait, whose involvement in a drug-fueled youth culture adds another layer of tension.
The novel is fast-paced and filled with unexpected twists, but it’s Lexi’s character that truly stands out. Barrie brilliantly develops Lexi, revealing her vulnerabilities—fear, guilt, and personal sacrifice—while maintaining her strength and determination. Lexi’s quest to stop Vaughn becomes a race against time, and her emotional journey, particularly as she navigates the complexities of fostering Cait, adds depth to the narrative.
The stakes are high, and Barrie doesn't shy away from keeping the tension at a fever pitch. The unraveling mystery and mounting danger will keep readers gripped, while the intricate plot and well-developed characters ensure a satisfying, emotional payoff. The ending, though intense, wraps up the series perfectly, making Endgame a must-read for thriller fans. A brilliant, fast-paced, and emotionally charged conclusion to a captivating series.
In true Lexi Winter form, her larger-than-life, down-to-earth, say-it-as-it-is personality was front and centre before I finished page twenty-one. Fangirling here because my god, I absolutely love this character !!!
Yes, I fell in love with the previous three books in the series, and Endgame was no exception. Sarah has created a fast-paced, nail-biting thriller that had me on the edge of my seat, not wanting to put the book down for any reason but also not wanting the experience to be finished too quickly. Quite the dilemma actually.
Vaughn is back trying to get Lexi. Lexi is trying to stop Vaughn…and as usual, it’s not as simple as it seems and there’s a million other things getting in the way and vying for Lexi’s attention while all this is going down.
From child abuse victim to life on the run on the streets, petty theft to prostitution and cybercrimes to law enforcement consultant, it’s Lexi’s past that has shaped her into the person that she is, and now as a constable studying her detective exams while stepping up to be a temporary guardian of a teenager with a troubled past, Lexi’s skillset is definitely not lacking.
Even though Lexi sees herself as a loner, she is surrounded by family and friends that she is not only fiercely loyal to but would lay her life on the line for. She has so much to gain with these relationships, but with Vaughn around, so much to lose.
This story had me from the very first words and didn’t relinquish me until a day or two after I finished reading it. Yes, it took a bit for me to process all the events and come to terms with the results. Even when I started my next book, my mind was still revisiting Endgame, and even now the emotional remnants are still felt.
Not wanting to repeat myself, but knowing I will anyone, let me just say Lexi Winter is one of my all-time favourite fictional characters, and I absolutely loved this book.
If you have read the first three books, then you know how awesome this series is, and I know you won’t be disappointed. If you are new to the Lexi Winter series, then do yourself a favour and grab book one, Unforgiven, because before you know it, you’ll be hooked and enjoying the tale in this very book.
"Wilfred Barrett Drive was bordered by tall trees and thick scrub. The sprawling suburban houses of Noraville sat to the north, with nothing but bush, beach, the cemetery and a couple of sports grounds to the south." If you've been following the Lexi Winter series, you're going to like Endgame, the fourth and final book in the series about this non-conventional NSW police officer. I liked that it was set on a road I have traveled many times. Lexi grew on me through the series, which I read in the wrong order.
I think to really get the most out of this book, you need to read the preceding three in order. It will help you understand Lexi's parenting messages: "And you never, ever let any fu**wit's emotional state manipulate you into being their physical doormat." You'll expect her to be blunt: "At the time I could have happily proved her right and strangled the b*tch". You'll also find it easier to understand the complexity of the crime(s) which span a ghost story being repeated, child sexual offences, drug trafficking, urban legends, child abuse, a new street drug called 'Flakka', and vigilantism. It's a lot, but somehow it all fits together into a convoluted search for a killer (or two, or three). Is Endgame realistic? Probably not, but somehow it's not grating. Lexi's a bit extra, and it seems fitting that the criminal that is fixated on her is a bit extra too.
As we watch the rise of Trump and his supporters, it makes sense to examine ideas like "appealing to those who lack critical thinking skills". I felt like some of the action was drawn from the way Trump inspired his supporters to raid Capitol Hill, while looking like he wasn't trying to do just that. It's a pretty good book for the post-truth era: "Killing is easy. Convincing other people to do it.... that's an art."
With thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Australia for providing me with a copy to read.
Endgame is another action packed story and the pace is non-stop. Lexi must stop her nemesis, Damon Vaughn, a serial child predator, before more people are killed. Vaughn's mind games are relentless and Lexi starts to second-guess who she can really trust.
Endgame has dual plot-lines of teen rape culture and drug use, and Lexi's chase to stop Vaughn. I was intrigued to see how the two storylines would connect. There is also a myth about a ghost that haunts the beach causing paranoia to run rife amongst the teens of the town.
Endgame is dark and gritty, a compelling read. I found Lexi wasn't as self-assured and hard hitting as in previous books but it was a fitting ending to the series with all loose ends nicely tied up.
The Lexi Winter series is a series that I would recommend be read in order to attain the full benefit of the stories.
So, I have loved this series from the beginning. Lexi Winter is an amazing fictional character, and all the previous books have turned Sarah Barrie into an auto-buy for me. (Actually, my modus-operandi is that I buy these books for my mum for either birthdays, mothers day, or Christmas, and then I read them after her). BUT, I had a struggle with this last instalment, even though it bought Lexi back to the foreshadowed showdown with Vaughan. My problem mostly was, I just couldn't suspend belief to believe that a police force would give the media coverage to a criminal, that you have to buy, to enjoy this book. Unfortunately, Mum agreed with me this time...
Sarah Barrie has delivered a deliciously dark, edge of your seat thriller with Endgame! It was suspenseful and twisted and turned in ways I did not see coming.
This is the fourth and final book and the perfect conclusion to the outstanding Lexi Winter series. I don’t want to give too much away because you need to read this series but will pop a little snippet below.
I have rated every book in this series 5 stars (and I’m not one to dish them out often) that’s how good this series is!
Endgame was a highly addictive read that I couldn’t put down and I highly recommend you read it.
Endgame is book four in the Lexi Winter series by Sarah Barrie. Lexi Winter never thought she would join the police force, and she never minded studying to be a detective and guardian of a young girl, Cait. However, that is what happened. During her team's investigation into a series of murders, Lexi receives a threat from a past enemy, Vaughn, who wants to play a game with Lexi. Will Lexi join the game? The readers of Endgame will continue to follow Lexi to discover what happens.
Sarah Barrie did it again with her latest book, Endgame. In it, she took her readers on another adventure with Lexi Winter and the other characters. I am sad that Endgame is the last book in this excellent series. I enjoy Sarah Barrie's writing style and how she intertwines her different plots throughout the book, which helped me engage with her stories and characters. I engage with the story and the characters from the first page to the end. I love Sarah Barrie's portrayal of her characters and how they interact with each other. I like Sarah Barrie's description of the settings of Endgame, which allowed me to imagine being part of the book's plot.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for my ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. I recommend this book.
Even though I'm sad that this is the final book in the Lexi Winter series, Endgame was everything I thought it was going to be and more. It was a perfect ending to the series. The whole four books have been a 5-star read for me, and I cannot wait to see what @authorsarahbarrie writes next.
If you are a thriller/crime lover and you haven't read these yet then I highly recommend adding them to your TBR!
A disappointing finale to the Lexi Winter series, which I otherwise have enjoyed. I don’t understand all the five star reviews?!! The story is convoluted and far-fetched (since when are newspapers dedicating pages and pages to cop vs bad guy sagas?! This just does not happen! And the Vaughan followers?? As if!) The conversations between police officers were ridiculous and distracting (not sure what was worse; Olivia’s psycho-babble or Rachel barking “out of my sight!” every so often). It’s a shame, if it weren’t for the time spent psychoanalyzing DV and/or Lexi, (and getting rid of the ridiculous media angle) the underlying plot had some promise. Poorly executed.
Another great read about Lexi Winter. Really hard to put down. Great writing and great characters (although I really hate Olivia). Hopefully there will be more Lexi books down the track particularly with more Dawny! She’s barely in this one.
I have really enjoyed this series and I am really sad to hear that, at this point in time, it is the last book (Please give us more!!!). Lexi is such an amazingly well fleshed out and engaging character. I want to keep reading about her. The other characters especially Zander and Rachel and Cait and Finn just compliment her perfectly. I am not ready to say goodbye to them just yet.....
So while I love (and I mean 5 star love the characters) and I love the writing, I will confess to be a little over the Vaughn story line and it took me nearly a week to get 100 pages in because I just wasn't invested in another Vaughn book. Add in that as the story went on, the plot became more and more convoluted with lots of "really????" twists and turns and that stopped this being a 5 star read for me.
However, I love the characters. I love the writing and I more than anything loved every scene between .
I hope the author returns to this world so we can experience Lexi having a little bit of happiness while she settles into her new position and solving more crimes (oh and hopefully Rachel gets a POV).

Endgame by Sarah Barrie is the fourth in the series featuring Lexi Winter - victim turned prostitute / hacker / vigilante turned cop. I really love this series and Barrie has offered up consistently good books with strong vibrant characters and action-packed investigations. It's interesting she's not garnered more accolades for her work (and I enjoyed her earlier novels as well). This would be great on the screen and I'd love to see it optioned as it's got everything one could possibly want in a TV series!
The book opens with the death of a young male, a suicide but there are questions around his motivation and some misdeeds that had taken place earlier, possibly also resulting in the suicide of a teenage girl.
But dwarfing that case (though there is ultimately a link) is the fact that convicted paedophile Damon Vaughn has returned and playing a public game of 'catch me if you can' with Lexie and her colleagues. Here Vaughn uses social media to try to claim that he's innocent of the charges he was jailed 15 years for committing and we're reminded of the power of falsehoods and misinformation shared publicly and left unchecked by the media and the public.
I've loved this whole series, particularly the second book, Retribution, giving it 4.5 stars and I enjoyed this as much, if not more. It offers so much more than the investigations as we come full circle in many ways to Lexi and the assumptions she's made about herself and the life she expects she will live.
Endgame was the perfect end to the Lexi Winter series!
There were so many wholesome moments. I won't spoil anything, but my HEART.
The only reason that my rating is 3.5 Stars is simply because I'm not a huge fan of drug related storylines (which is pretty much this entire series haha) however, I am a HUGE fan of Sarah Barrie's which is why I have read the entire series anyway. Sarah has a way of writing incredible characters with so much depth that they truly feel like real people. The Lexi Winter series was no exception, I'm so sad to be saying goodbye to Lexi, Finn and Rachael.
I think this book has serious 5 Star potential for people who do love drug crime so I would 100% recommend!
I can't wait to read what Sarah releases next!
A huge thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Australia for the ARC (even though I 100% would have read it regardless) in exchange for my honest review.
