Dan Watters is a UK based comic book writer. His first book, LIMBO, was released through Image Comics in 2016. He has since written THE SHADOW at Dynamite Comics, and ASSASSIN’S CREED and WOLFENSTEIN for Titan Comics.

Currently he is writing the relaunch of LUCIFER for Vertigo’s Sandman Universe, as well as DEEP ROOTS for Vault Comics. Deeply rooted in London Town, and firmly of the Devil's party.

So is Dick Turpin everywhere now? I didn’t really like the art style and Ruby looks nothing like Ruby, but when The Doctor started chastising with “honey” I felt his voice come through.

This one is by far one of my faourite Doctor Who comics, which is great considering that it's free. There are so many callbacks here to past stories such as The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit and Name Of The Doctor, which is extremely satisfying as a major fan of the show.

The story itself is extremely interesting, concerning Dick Turpin obtaining a Cyber-blaster in the Eighteenth Century. It's similar to the non-Who series Renegade Nell, in the way it combines the era of highwaymen and women with heightened elements from another genre (in this case, sci-fi). I really admire the decision to set this in Yorkshire, as Eighteenth Century York makes for a great setting that's rarely used in sci-fi in general.

The Doctor is a Time Lord, traversing through time and space in his trusty TARDIS. He helps those in need wherever, and whenever, he can. Able to regenerate when close to death, the Doctor has lived many lives, been on countless adventures, and known many losses.

After his Fourteenth incarnation went through the unique experience of bi-generation, the Fifteenth Doctor appeared by his side. Now, he is exploring the universe with his new best friend, Ruby Sunday.

The latest Doctor has received a lot of hate but I, for one, am a fan. I love his energy which is perfectly captured in this Free Comic Book Day taster of a comic series based on his adventures with Ruby Sunday.

Discovering a sound within the space-time continuum, the TARDIS is led to a series of destinations from the Doctor's past before landing in 17th century Yorkshire. Accidently the pair aid the escape of notorious highwayman Dick Turpin, who appears to have Cyberman technology!

Having to correct the time-line, the Doctor and Ruby must use all the tricks in the book! However, there are greater forces pulling the strings. This promises to be a good story arc for the Doctor and I will be seeking out the full volume. 5 stars.

FREE COMIC! Love a FREE comic. Enormous fun. Fifteen, what a charmer, and he shines in this FREE comic issue. All of the art is marvellous, a real balance of motion and surprising verisimilitude, especially for a FREE comic. Dick Turpin has a cyberman hand. Not sure why. Did I mention this comic is FREE? This one's a lead-in to a Titan miniseries, so I hope I don't forget what happened before I read the follow-up to this FREE comic. Villain collects screams in bottles. Cool! Probably inspired by the way I'm screaming up and down the street about this FREE comic. FREE COMIC!!

A tantalizing glimpse of the Fifteenth Doctor, traveling with Ruby Sunday where history, fantasy, and science fiction meld together in a chase and an introduction to a new threat with some sinister collecting habits crossing the Doctor's path, and perhaps drawing him into a trap, even as the Doctor's interest and attention are aroused.

I was lucky enough to find this on Free Comic Day. It's an intriguing story, one I could see happening on the TV show itself. Here's hoping there are many more adventures like this for the Doctor yet to come!

Great Start!

"Doctor Who FCBD 2024" kicks off the new comic book series very well story wise. I'm not a huge fan of the artwork, though. But it's certainly not the worst I've ever seen by any means.

I've been a Whovian since the early 1980s - when Tom Baker had the role of the 4th Doctor. Sadly, I've fallen behind. This was my introduction to the 15th Doctor. I need to get caught up and watch his first season of the show.

But I would certainly recommend picking up "Doctor Who FCBD 2024"!

My first step into the realm of any Doctor who media behind the television series and surprisingly this actually hits pretty well. The story is simple and it’s funny to see the new doctor portrayed who isn’t even out yet…time travel, show references, and regret galore! This is quintessential Who vibes.

I really like how even though this Doctor barely even came on the scene, he already has such a characteristic voice. Ruby too! The writing in this is on point, sounds just like them.

This is basically just a teaser for a new arc which sounds like pretty spooky and interesting, but there's just not much to go on.

Personally, I thought the art, style, and colors were AMAZING (this is once more subjective) as this was a free comic I didn’t expect much from it, but I felt that the story was pretty interesting, or at least interesting enough for me to check when the next comic will be (June 26, 2024) and I’ll probably buy it when it first comes out.

Having just watched the first couple episodes of the new season, I'm curious whether this idea of The Doctor's dark memories coming back is at all inspired by the memory-related things happening on the show. Definitely an interesting setup either way.

I'm probably biased because I'm excited for this new Doctor, but I really enjoyed this issue. The art is a sketch-style that took a few panels to get used to, but I think it contributed nicely to the sense of action in the book. The villain introduced is intriguingly spooky.

The sketches were nice but it was not an art style I prefer but the coloring was great. With the end of the story kind of left me disappointed wondering where this was going. The script seems very much like the characters in the show.

He’s reminded of places. Scary memories of the past.

The pair come across Dick Turpin in 1739 England.

The cyber weapon. Mysterious man, present at the gallows.

Illustration quality varies heavily. The artist attempts different genres and vibes.

Interesting story, though. Solid cliffhanger to conclude with.

This was a FCBD comic and the artwork is good, but the story just didn't entice me to continue with this series, at this time, as other FCBD comic books have.
