I came across these books when another reader had asked about the plot of a book that sounded intriguing to me. This duet ended up not being the book she was looking for, but as soon as I read the synopsis for the books I was all in. Being the type of reader I am I started at the beginning of the series, even though this duet was about a different couple.
The Beloved duet set me to know what was coming for Natalie and what a huge loss she'd suffered. I wasn't, however, prepared for how much more pain she was actually going to suffer in her books. My heart broke over and over for her. She remained a true Wonder Woman though, she took those debilitating punches and just kept fighting. Someday, when I grow up, I want to be able to weather life's storms with the same resilience and grace as Lee.
Liam was such a great support for Lee, even when he felt like he was overstepping his boundaries as her dead husband's best friend. I loved all the ways he was there for her and helped her when he thought there could be nothing more than a platonic friendship between the two of them. For me, true love lies not in the moment of intimacy and passion, but in those moments where a person is doing something just take make life a little better/easier/brighter for the person they love and Liam performed those tasks in spades.
I HATED the end of Consolation. Hated it. I was so mad at the author in that moment. I was so happy to have Conviction to jump right into because I don't think I could have handled living in that kind of limbo for any amount of time. I'm very glad that Lee didn't leave Liam (or the readers!) in the lurch for long either. While I knew who I thought Lee needed, I didn't know if there would be a strange period of back and forth while she figured everything out. I should have known my girl would know what her soul needed and would do what it took to get it.
Corinne Michaels has made her way onto my auto-buy, read on release day authors. Each of her books are emotionally heavy, deal with issues that are real, and just speak to my soul. I love her characters, specifically her females, they are all so strong and amazing and I am just in awe of how unique they all are while still maintaining the same amazing strength.

LOVE THIS DUET! It was super good. I loved it, loved the characters, the story line, the writing style, you name it. I enjoyed it so much it has lead me to read the authors other work. I highly recommend to anyone. There's enough to keep your attention and doesn't drag on like some stories do. I loved it.

WOW! is all I can say about this brilliant story, This would have to be one of the best romances I have read, and I've read a lot, the love that grows between Liam and Natalie is so beautiful and emotional, this story will stir every emotion in your body and blow your mind, I was so shocked by the ending It was so unexpected and shocking. Narrated by Andi Arndt and Sebastian York who are two of the best narrators in the business just made this story so real, this is a must read.

Consolation

This is the first novel by Corinne Michaels I have read and damn...it was fantastic!! I was hooked from the start and didn't want to put it down.

Natalie "Lee" is pregnant and waiting for her husband, Aaron to be home from a mission. She has to talk her little peanut to keep her calm in there until he is back to them. But when Natalie hears the knock at the door she has a bad feeling, she is the wife of a former SEAL and two of Aaron's best friends, her world is turned upside down and she doesn't want to believe it. She and Aaron have been together since they were 16 and now she is a pregnant widow at 27. How can she move on when all she has ever known was this life.

After a couple of months have past and many visits from friends Natalie is trying to keep it together. She has to for her daughter Ararabelle, she doesn't have a father but she has a mother that will put on her pretend smile and pretend to move on. But when a knock comes to the door and its Liam, her husband's best friend, she can't fake it anymore...he sees right through her. Liam is there to help her in any way he can and they both have no idea how much he will.

Liam does everything he can for Lee and Arabelle even when Lee says she doesn't need it. But finally after giving her, he finally gets her to smile again and not a fake one. They start to see that there is more than a friendship starting. They fight it but it's there. He makes her feel safe and back to herself. She is comfortable in his arms and she feels guilty about it. And he does too but they both need to move forward and maybe together is the best way to do it.

When things about Aaron come to surface things get even more complicated but can they get past it? Can Natalie let Liam in? Can Liam get over his guilt of being with his friends widowed wife? Can she love again? Can she be with another SEAL?

I loved this story! Liam is seriously hilarious, loyal, sexy and has some skills with rope. Natalie is strong, loving and sassy. The sassiness in Natalie fits perfectly with Liam's arrogant sense of humor. I was afraid it might have been a depressing love story but no...it was emotional but also funny. And Though in Ararbelle and all he sweetness, it's a perfect mix.

I can not wait to read conviction!!! Come on May!

Quotes:

Hope is a weak bitch who couldn’t give two fucks about what you want. So I rely on faith. Faith that I’ll make it through this and find my heart again.

I can’t stay away or stop myself from checking on her. It’s like a drug.

Liam tilts in conspiratorially, “Well, I don’t mean to brag, but I’ve been known to break a few hearts . . . and beds.”
“Breaking beds because you’re a fat ass doesn’t count.”

I love the game we play. Playful but seductive.

CONVICTION

I was introduced to Corinne's writing when I read Consolation and it was beautiful and emotional and I could not wait for Conviction. This is the conclusion to Natalie's story! This will be a short review since I don't want to have any kind of spoilers. If you have not read book one you need to before this one.

Conviction starts right when Consolation ended with Natalie being very confused. She doesn't believe what is happening and her emotions are scattered all over the place. Over the last year she has gone through so much and now the strength she has built is going to be tested. Her heart, body and soul will be too...

Natalie and Liam found love and now she has to prove that he is what she wants, craves and needs but now when the past coming crashing in she has a uphill battle. Liam loves Natalie like crazy and wants nothing more than to be with her and Arabella but obstacles have to be dealt with first.

I feel for Natalie. She is stronger now than she was a year ago but emotions are high throughout the whole book. She is torn but knows where her heart belongs. Will she get the happily ever after?

This was one amazing emotional roller coaster ride! I wanted to throw my iPad, throat punch a character more than once, knock some sense into another. I also laughed, cried, swooned and cried some more. This series is a must read in my book.

Quotes:

“You are awake. This isn’t a dream.”

Reanell laughs, “Maybe I should head to the store and get her an edible one. Jesus, you’re like Betty Crapper— this doesn’t even look like cake mix.”

“Thanks, caveman. Go put your club away before you hit yourself on the head,” I say grabbing my coat.

I soaked this duet in and I felt every emotion known to man. I cried when I started the book because of the grief Natalie felt after losing Aaron, I felt angry with Natalie as she found out about Aaron's secrets, I felt utter pain for Natalie and what she had to go through just to remain strong for Aarabella, | felt happiness when I watched her fall for Liam because she deserved to feel happy and loved and I felt the shock along with her after the ending of the first book and the entirety of the second. The plot twist was predictable for me, but only as a passing idea. It wasn't something I was absolutely sure was going to happen so I was more shocked that I was right then I was that it had happened. This story follows Natalie as she goes through the grief of the sudden passing of her husband just after he leaves the Navy to start their family and just before she gives birth to their daughter. After 6 months of pain, their mutual friend, Liam, comes to town to help her do the things she didn't have the energy to get done. In the midst of this, they slowly fall in love through their mutual grief and love for Aaron, but little does Natalie know, Liam will be the one to break her heart all over again. It's up to them to learn to get through a new trial they face and decide if their bond is greater than most. These books were so good, and I was so impressed by how selfless Natalie was. Many times, a main character going through this kind of grief makes the most selfish decisions, but she was so good about realizing that everyone was feeling this loss with her and she even pointed out that she believed his fellow SEALS were going through more with his loss than she was because she believed they had a closer bond than a married couple. It genuinely made me love her character and I felt like it helped me be able to sympathize with her more. I highly recommend these books, and I'll just tell y'all now that I am officially going to be buying every book this author puts out because these books are that good.

Natalie’s life turns upside down when her husband, Aaron, passes away leaving her pregnant & a widow at the young age of twenty seven. When Aaron’s best friend, Liam, makes it his mission to make sure Natalie and their daughter are taken care of and looked after they become closer than ever.

Holy. Moly. This was a page turner y’all! This was the first book I’ve read by Corinne Michaels and I could not stop reading! From the very beginning the story had my attention and I was so into it! I really enjoyed the push and pull between Natalie & Liam, it was forbidden and watching them trying to fight their feelings kept me needing more and more. This duet had so much emotion, the forbidden vibes, the swoon from Liam 👀

“𝘐 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥𝘯’𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴. 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘥𝘰. 𝘐 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥𝘯’𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘴. 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘢𝘮. 𝘐 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘮 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘶𝘵 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘶𝘴. 𝘉𝘶𝘵 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯’𝘵.” (Consolation)

The plot twist that we got in the middle of the story and then that ending of the first book! Whew! Thank goodness this duet is complete because I’d be going CRAZY for the second book! The second book gave me even more feels 🥹 I really loved this duet!

Favorite Quote : “𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘶𝘯𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘮𝘦. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥, 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘭𝘢𝘱 𝘮𝘦." ( Conviction) I loved this 🤣

With the death of her husband Aaron fresh in her mind, Natalie moves through her days trying to be present for her newborn daughter. So when Aaron's best friend Liam see her world is shattered he steps up and tries to make everything just a little bit more bearable. The last thing either one expected was for the closeness they share turning into so much more. Will the rest of their friends understand that love happens when you least expect it to? Or will the two be destined for heartbreak from the very beginning? Liam and Natalie's relationship might be considered taboo but the way in which Corinne Michaels tells their story the reader cannot help but fall in love with them and want them to get their HEA - but hold onto your hats - the ending will have you needing more ASAP.
With he return of Aaron, Liam and Natalie's HEA is thrown off course. But with every chapter new insight as to the state of Natalie and Aaron's marriage comes forward. Who should she choose? Aaron who she is still married but has lied to her many times? Or Liam - the man who picked up the pieces of her broken heart and loves her no matter what? Either was Natalie will break some one's heart. So will you be team Aaron or team Liam?

This was actually the first book I read by Corinne Michaels but it hasn't been the last. I am a huge fan of this author and count down the days until her release dates. Although I love all her books, Natalie and Liam's story is my favorite thus far.
Natalie experiences a great loss in her life and is left to raise her daughter alone. In steps Liam, her husbands best friend to help. I know it's crazy to fall in love with a character of a book, but crazy I am because Liam is the ultimate male. I want a Liam!!!!

This book will take you on an emotional ride. The twist in the story blew me away. I couldn't put this book down. I read this book when it first came out and Liam still tops my boyfriend list many stories later.

THIS IS A MUST READ!!!

Absolutely loved reading Liam and Lee's story of friendship, loss, and love. Such a beautiful duet. You see some of the characters from the Beloved/Beholden series in these books and you can catch up on their lives as well.

Lee's journey back to happiness is a long one, but it's definitely hard earned. I loved how Liam never left her side through her grief, and soon became her soul mate.

A must read!!

I just loved the story of Liam and Natalie. Love may come from the most unexpected sources at the time you least expect and this is one of those stories. It is such an emotional roller coaster and written such that I was hooked from the first page. Corinne is such a talented author and she has a way with words that just draws you in.

Una lectura con una trama superficial y demasiado predecible. La trama está tan dramatizada hasta el punto que resulta ridícula y poco creíble. Los personajes son irritantes, insufribles y molestos. No disfruté nada sobre esto.
