A loud-out-loud, opposites-attract, only-one-bed, revenge romantic comedy from Amazon All-Star Melanie Summers…

Allie Cammareri is about to get her revenge. It’s been twelve years coming, but she’s finally going to defeat the ex who stole her research then dumped her.

She’s in a race against him to finish the same big project, and there can only be one winner. All she needs is a few more weeks of working around the clock, and victory will be hers.

So when her boss announces she’s being pulled off the project to mentor a Hollywood A-lister who’s preparing for an upcoming movie role, Allie is devastated. She doesn’t care that it’s People’s Sexiest Man, Hudson Finch.

Allie refuses to let him get in her way, even if Hudson is the most distracting (and delicious-smelling) man on the planet. But between the close confines of her tiny office and a night stranded together in a secluded mountain cabin, her feelings for Hudson turn into something she never could’ve predicted.

She may be falling hard for him, but can Allie really find her happily ever after in his muscley arms?

I absolutely love all of Melanie Summer's books, and Love Signals was perfectly Melanie. The characters are great, the banter so funny. So many LOL moments counter balanced with touching moments.

This isn't as squeeky clean as some of her prior romcoms, it's still somewhat mild in the spice department. It's way more about the characters and their relationship than detailing bedroom escapades. There are definitely some spicy scenes though, but they were light and fun.

I love the women in STEM in this series. This is book 2 but can totally be read as a standalone without you missing anything.

I'm also a fan of chapter titles and this book not only has them, but they are funny and just so perfect.

The female MC, Allie, has the most amazing and funny Italian family. I loved them all so much, and wish I could join them for Sunday dinner.

I wanna thank netgalley for this ARC in exhange of an honest review. And I also wanna thank the author for this copy of the book:

I liked the majority of the book but the final part, I have to admit, took a star from my rating. The book was good, the characters were hilarious and romantic and the writing as always was very good.
Hudson was a major green flag, that man was perfection and he didn't even see it. I wish I had an Hudson, the way he was with Allie and how good and genuine person he was in general.
I liked Allie too, she was a woman in a men's field and she was holding herself beautifully. My problem was when the conflict happened and she compared Hudson with her ex boyfriend, which was beyong unfair, and wouldn't let him talk and explain. She took things way too far. He did a bad thing, that's a fact but she went overboard and made the situation so much worse. I hate when the FMC stars with the whole "you are better than me, who would look at me, poor little me", I do not have the patience for that. He made a mistake but Jesus Christ, it was a mistake where you are angry a day or two and then talk about it, not do what she did, accusing him of being worse than dirt and dismissing entirely. It was so unfair that he had to disclose a personal secret that he struggled with his whole life so that she could forgive him, I didn't like that. And then the whole thing just snowballed from there because another thing happened and instead of talking to him to try and understand what had happened, she chose to think the worst about him and things went even worse. PEOPLE JUST NEED TO TALK AND ALLIE DIDN'T SEEM TO UNDERSTAND THAT. UGHHHHHH. This book frustated me so much, Hudson didn't deserved the third degree she gave him.
Still, it was a good book and I liked it (Hudson for the most part but yeah)
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Thank you to NetGalley for sharing this ARC with me!

This was such a cute read! As a huge fan of the female in STEM characters and stories, I thought that Allie and Hudson's story was really sweet! They definitely had chemistry, the spice was good, and I liked the premise of their story (Hollywood actor comes to lab to prepare for his role as he redefines his spot in film, busy scientist doesn't want to tutor him, they fall in love).

I didn't read the first book in the series but I don't think it mattered too much. Allie and Hudson's story stands alone and it's really quite sweet! I love that Summers tackled women in STEM, trust issues, and gender stereotypes in a playful but honest way. I think both characters stood up well on their own and I appreciated the family scenes for Allie. They added a nice glimpse of a full life - and a contrast to what Hudson had and wanted in his own life.

I gave this 4.5/5 because I think it was almost perfect! Some of the media stuff felt forced (I get why there was the social media guy in between chapters but it got super annoying). I also feel like the last 10% felt a little bit expected? A few scenes had me skimming a little bit near the end - but having read many romances now, I know why things were done the way they were. Again nothing horrible and honestly, I can't deny I wanted to find out what happened in the end! Really enjoyed this read overall! Quick summer read with great romance!

Love Signals is book #2 in the Love Struck series. This book is about Allie, Gwen from the first book’s best friend. She is a radio astronomer at SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Research Institute. She is on the verge of a scientific breakthrough and doesn’t need a distraction.

But it’s exactly what she gets with Hollywood movie star, Hudson Finch. She is to mentor him for the next six weeks as he prepares for his upcoming movie role.
I enjoyed the first book, but I absolutely loved this book and both main characters. Hudson is a big, sexy teddy bear. He is just what Allie needs. He is her “tomato paste.”

Thank you to the author for a #gifted copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

In Love Struck #2 we return to SETI and get Allie's story.

This gem for sure can be read as a standalone.

"Hudson grins, and when his dimples pop, I swear to God, you can hear the eggs dropping all around the room, even from the post-menopausal women among us" 🤣❤️

No pepper....you want to find tomato paste. - you will know what this means when you read the book 😉

I was so excited to read more about Allie and fell in love with her and Hudson.

Dr. Allie Cammareri is brilliant in her career but not when it comes to susing out lying, cheating men. When she is not only passed over again to present her work at world SETI conference, she also is informed she has to babysit actor Hudson Finch to prepare for a role as the founder of her Research Institute. She has vowed to keep lying men out of reach so she can final complete a industry changing project all on her own. She did not expect to fall in love.

Hudson Finch is Hollywood's surfer, sexy and heartthrob favorite. Now in his final year of being 30 his agent and team advise him to take more serious roles. Hiding dyslexia for his whole life he has so many apprehensions in going to SETI to prepare for a role acting as it's founder feeling less than. What he wasn't prepared for was meeting Allie.

So many funny, sweet and candid moments as we watched Allie and Hudson story unfold. Also how they both get over there past hang ups to realize how much they care for each other.

Allie's big italian and opinionated family (much like my own) had me in stitches through out the book and both helped and hurt her cause when it came to Hudson.

Hudson's handsome hollywood image being discovered as a front for self doubt, but also his need to be mostly that sweet caring persona without realizing it.

I soooo recommend this book!

Thank you NetGalley and Indigo Group for this ARC!

Dare I say I loved this book even more than The Space Between Us?! I absolutely adore Gwen and Ty but Allie and Hudson stole my heart. Which is super surprising since I didn't think I would like reading about an actor character but Melanie Summers had changed my mind.

As expected, great writing, pacing and character work. Such a cute and quick read which I devoured in a single sitting. The romance was adorable and I loved both main leads together. Their relationship did seem to take off quite quickly for my liking but as the story went on, I could really see how they came to love and trust one another. That's why the third act breakup really made my heart ache (literally). It was such a realistic but gut-wrenching situation but at the same time, I did enjoy seeing the man grovel accordingly.

I also loved the whole family dynamic - it was so fun to read about, especially the weird food analogies. Another moment that made me giggle was the main female lead's inner dialogue at the beginning of chapter 28 - it felt like I was reading one of Gypsy Rose's Instagram comments defending her man lol. The gossip blogger tidbits were a nice touch too that really adds to the whole reading experience.

Would read again, as well as anything else Melanie Summers publishes - especially if its another book in the series since I love reading about smart and ambitious women.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC.

This was such a fun rom com, I read it in one sitting. If you like Ali Hazelwood and/or kickass steminists, you'll love this book.

FMC Allie is a stubborn, independent astrophysicist hell-bent on finishing her new AI model and shoving her success down the throats of her gross ex-boyfriend and sexist colleagues. MMC Hudson is a charming, self-deprecating movie star who's aging out of his typical roles and taking a leap of faith in a serious role. Cue workplace romance, where Allie is tasked with teaching Hudson the ins and outs of her astronomy lab to prep for his role as a famous astrophysicist in a major motion picture.

There are hilarious spider shenanigans, overwhelming family dinners, failed opera dates, and one steamy snowed in night. As is typical of rom coms, there is a third act break up-- I initially thought the drama that propelled this was a little forced, which is why this is a 4 star rating, but I will say that it all came together very nicely in the end (of course, it is a HEA). There is solid representation of sexism in science, struggles with trust in relationships, and the realities of having dyslexia. Overall, this book was such a good time and I will definitely be checking out Melanie Summers' other books. 4/5 stars.

Well, this almost was a 3 star and then the FMC went so off the rails at the end that it left a horrible taste in my mouth for the whole thing. For the most part it was a cute rom-comy story, Hollywood heart-throb meets cute nerdy girl and many cute and touching things happen. They had decent chemistry after Allie stopped being a bitch, until 75% when she went level 10 Neurotic Psycho Bitch. Listen, was him kissing her to distract her kind of a shitty thing to do? Yes. Did it deserve the neurotic vitriol response that she gave? Absolutely not! That should have been a "mad for an evening" kind of offense, definitely not a "become a hateful raging bitch who overreacts on a galaxy sized scale" offense. I just couldn't believe how insane she was. I think the author was trying to make her Zoe Deschanel mad and quirky, but it came off more Regina George. By the end, I didn't even want them to get back together because he deserved better than her. An unfortunate end to an otherwise cute and easy read.

Sigh. I fell in love with these two pretty much from the beginning, and I was cheering for their Happy Ever After almost as long. Allie has had some pretty tragic relationships in her past and that colors her view of the world now. Hudson’s hiding a secret that I personally don’t think should have ever been a secret. Each of their hot buttons are designed to set one another off, but how they managed to find their way through the minefield, was a thing of beauty. However, I had my doubts about Allie in the eleventh hour. In the end, I was so glad to see these two get it right, and I already can’t wait to discover what the author has for us next.

Melanie Summers creates fantastic characters, both the main characters and the family and friends that surround them. Allie is lovable though flawed and completely believable. There is plenty of humor in this one (I love the whole concept of looking like you smell bad – I’ve experienced it) and a sweet romance that will warm your heart. Plus, I love learning so much more about SETI and the search for what else is out there in the universe. Highly recommended for a feel-good, funny and satisfying read.

Allie and Hudson were soooo cute !

Pretty sure I am not smart enough to be a nerd myself, but I love romance novels set in teaching or research environment.

Hudson is so much more than just a movie star. His character is really cute and smart in a practical way. Dyslexia isn't that discussed in novels, I liked it. Ally is completely work focused, a complete nerd trying to win revenge over her ex and finally be notorious for her research.

Like in most romance novels, the big issue remains the lack of communication which could have saved them so much pain. However, I liked how Hudson manages to save the day at the end.

I haven't read the first instalment of this series but it wasn't any trouble. I really liked Gwen and will probably go read her story with Ty.

Melanie writes the best lighthearted romcom books! While Love Signals can be read as a standalone, I think it’s likely best enjoyed after reading The Space Between Us (book one in the “series”). I thoroughly enjoyed returning to the SETI research world and the cameos from Gwen and Ty. Allegra and Hudson were cute and well matched and I loved the dyslexia representation and opposites attract trope.

For whatever reason I think I enjoyed book one just a little bit more and it likely is because of all the traveling!

Thanks so much to Melanie Summers for the arc. All thoughts are mine and given voluntarily 😊

Thank you to NetGalley and Indigo Group for providing this book, with my honest review below.

Melanie Summers has been a favorite author of mine so Love Signals was a book I was eager to read, and I’m so glad that much like her other books, it was light and satisfying.

Love Signals was a STEAM read with an actor and scientist coming together - her relentlessly researching to try to win an achievement significant in her field- and the perfect revenge on her discovery stealing ex, and him to retain his leading man status. With a lot of cute moments bringing the two together, and the perfect climax and conflict, this book filled the assignment of the perfect rom com. If you’re a fan of a modern day (if still slightly less than realistic) romance, this book is for you!

A classic Nerd Girl falls for the Hollywood star? Not really. Although the premise is there, Melanie is smart enough to avoid using the old cliché to draft the story. I love that we barely have a glimpse into Hudson's fame and its privilege and that they have a chance to meet on her turf. That way the story unfolds much more naturally, full of funny and heartwarming moments.

Love Signals follows Allie, a radio astronomer, as she races against time and her professional nemesis, who happens to be her ex-boyfriend, to make a groundbreaking scientific advancement. What she didn't schedule for was having to babysit an actor working on his next role. Over the six weeks of job shadowing Allie and Hudson's relationship develops into something neither of them were anticipating.

If you like Ali Hazelwood, you'll like this book. The science to romance ratio is perfect and the main characters are well developed, believable, and likeable. My only critiques are that the 3rd act conflict is a little silly and a little drawn out and every so often the voice of the main characters shifts into something weird and unlike themselves.

A hunky Hollywood actor + a stunning research PhD leads to a laugh out loud tale. This was such a fun opposites attract rom-com! Hudson and Ali have lots of chemistry but they also have some obstacles. I adored Ali’s big Italian family and how protective they are. As the story progresses both Ali and Hudson are tested and the result is a heartwarming ending.
Summers writes relatable characters with witty dialogue. In Love Signals, we return to the same interesting research lab setting as book one. I enjoyed this book even more than the first, and while they are in a connected series, you could definitely read each book as a stand-alone.

Thank you to the author for the opportunity to read an early copy-all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Love Signals is the second book in the Love Struck series by Melanie Summers and follows SETI astronomer Allie and movie star Hudson. Hudson has reached a point in his film career where he needs to start taking on more serious roles and his first serious project is an indie film about a famous radio astronomer and needs to shadow someone to be successful. Allie is at a critical point in her career and on the verge of a breakthrough when she is saddled with educating an actor about her career something she doesn’t have time for. What neither of them anticipated was how much of a distraction but also an opportunity their interactions would be for all kinds of learning.

I think Hudson and Allie meshed really well together and although they had a few hiccups along the way they persevered and found a groundbreaking discovery between themselves.

Love Signals

Another great book in the Love Struck series, and I’m thrilled Allie got her own story! While Allie and Hudson seem like total opposites, as the story progresses, and you get to know what’s hidden behind their exteriors, you see that they both have insecurities and fears that they need to deal with. Allie‘s Italian family is hysterical and definitely always looks out for her well-being as well as Hudson’s. This is a fun rom-com with several laugh out loud moments. I highly recommend this book as well as all Melanie Summers books.

Summers has started my Summer with a smile! I can always count on Melanie for a tightly written Rom Com that gives all the emotions that come from misunderstanding and all the things we do for Love, along with just the right tension, banter that is off the charts, and chemistry between the leads that, as your High School Chem teacher ranted every day, requires goggles ~ because he is potassium and she is water... which, as all my STEM Gal Pals know, is the perfect recipe for a colorful and powerful explosion!

STEM girl romance for the win.
This was a surprisingly funny and heartwarming read. This is my first book by this author and I'll definitely be keeping up with her.

I might have been biased by being a scientist with dyslexia myself but I imagine this is an amazing read no matter who you are. Both main characters are of surprising depth and the supporting cast rounds everything out wonderfully. Two seemingly opposites attract to find they are at the core very much alike. Both of them fought the draw that they have to each other bit in the end it's just meant to be! A HEA with some steam. I accidently read this in a single sitting and lost some sleep in the process. Being a bit tired the next day was totally worth it!

Title: Love Signals by Melanie Summers
(Love Struck Romantic Comedy, #2)

Release Date: June, 6th, 2024

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Stars

"Love Signals" by Melanie Summers is a delightful romp through the realms of science and stardom, where the unlikely collision of astrophysics and Hollywood creates a constellation of laugh-out-loud moments, heartfelt connections, and a romance that's as unexpected as it is irresistible.

Allie Cammareri, a brilliant scientist with a score to settle, finds her path to professional triumph unexpectedly diverted when she's tasked with mentoring Hudson Finch, People's Sexiest Man Alive and a Hollywood A-lister preparing for a role that's out of this world. Allie's determination to not let anything, or anyone, derail her quest for revenge against her ex is commendable, but it's put to the test when the distractingly handsome and delicious-smelling Hudson enters her life.

Summers' skilful pen crafts a narrative that's as engaging as it is entertaining, with characters who leap off the page and into your heart.

The opposites-attract trope is given a fresh twist, as Allie and Hudson navigate the close confines of her tiny office and a night stranded together in a secluded mountain cabin. Their evolving relationship is a joy to witness, from the initial sparks of annoyance to the flames of an undeniable connection.

The romance at the heart of "Love Signals" is both adorable and believable. While the speed at which Allie and Hudson's relationship develops might raise an eyebrow, Summers deftly shows how mutual respect and understanding can blossom into love. The third act breakup is a poignant reminder of the complexities of relationships, but it's also a testament to the strength of the bond between our protagonists.

Beyond the central romance, "Love Signals" shines in its exploration of family dynamics and the quirky, lovable Cammareri clan. The weird food analogies and the warmth of family interactions add depth and humour to the story, making it a truly enjoyable read.

"Love Signals" is a stellar addition to the Love Struck series, combining the allure of science with the glitz of Hollywood in a way that's both refreshing and captivating.

Melanie Summers has once again proven her prowess in crafting stories that are not only fun and romantic but also thoughtfully explore the complexities of human relationships. Whether you're a fan of rom-coms, science fiction, or just looking for a story that will make you laugh, cry, and believe in love, "Love Signals" is a beacon in the literary universe that's not to be missed.

This book reminded me of Julie James "Just the sexist Man Alive" but you replace a lawyer for a radio astronomer. With the story line of an actor shadowing a professional for a role they are preparing for and the two falling for each other. Which if that appeals to you, you'll like this book. There were things I liked about this book and some things I didn't.

Things I liked:
Melanie Summers know how to write good characters because Chad and Allie's brother-in-law were awful, and I hated them. Every time they popped up, I wanted to throw something at them. Hudson on the other hand was caring and witty. The perfect contrast. I also really like how "smooth" Hudson's character felt but deep down he was hiding a big insecurity.
The jokes kept me laughing. Like when Hudson admits he broke his grandmother's gravy boat and lied about it. Allie assumes it was when he was a child. Hudson admits it was only two years ago. The man's 39!
I also like how the science aspect was not overwhelming. I only remember a few times where were given a longer paragraph of space terms and anything you needed to know was explained. Like Pulsars or a cosmic microwave or how "Frank" worked. So I could still enjoy the romance with a little science thrown in.

What I didn't like:
The Instagram "reels" every few chapters. If it had been once to show the kind of fans Hudson had, then fine. But it happened quite often and didn't really tell us anything we didn't know or wouldn't find out in the next chapter. It was strange to read the description of a reel.
The other thing I didn't like was the use of the "I have to protect my love interest from me by distancing myself". And I just hate this trope. It just really gums up the works when one character pulls away and the other is thinking they no longer care. When they always do.

BE ADVISED: This book mentions spiders quite a few times and there is a scene with one running around. I am scared of spiders. I was still able to read the book fine. But a warning would of be nice. But I didn't have a spider nightmare after I read it. So that's a win.

I am a big fan of Melanie Summers work but I am wowed by her STEM Series, Love Struck. Love Signals is second book in the series. It centers around the main characters, Hudson, a movie star on the edge of a crisis and Allegra, a radio astronomer at SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) Research Institute. Hudson and Allie are thrown together in a realistic manner as he is preparing for his pivotal role that will redefine his image and she is the scientist assigned to tutor him for the role based on a real scientist.
Allie is a brilliant research scientist who has deep-seated trust issues and a negative self image. She sees herself only as a refection of her successes. She has buried herselo in a project that she feels with validate her worth to the SETI Community.
Hudson is a man with a secret that has shaped his personality, his career and his relationships. The chemistry begins to slowly build and then sizzle. He is swoon worthy and I appreciate how he respects Allie's work and pitches in to help her in thoughtful ways. Allie fights her feelings and distrusts Hudson's motives. Totally understandable, given how she thinks and rooted in her previous experience with men. Hudson is so well written that when he reveals that secret to Allie, I felt his pain of rejection and the fear for the future if the secret got into the world.
One of the best supporting characters is Enzo, Allie's father who is protective and wise. His cooking lesson with Hudson during Sunday family dinner and it is one of the best scenes I've read. I will never think of pepper and tomato sauce in the same way again!
Love Signals can be read as a stand alone but if you enjoyed it then you will also love the first in the series, The Space Between Us! If you like genius STEM women who fall for men who are equally successful then Love Signals is a book to read!

🛑Read on with caution; review may contain spoilers🛑

Love Signals is as adorable as the first book in the Love Struck series (although could be read as a standalone). It tells the story of SETI astronomer Allie, who’s on the brink of a major scientific breakthrough but has been assigned to cater to tutoring and touring Hollywood star Hudson around their facility in preparation for an upcoming film. So much for her annoyance that helping Hudson would take a huge chunk of her time from her work, they eventually fall in love despite being opposites and have found each other very easy to talk to.

Firstly, I would like to express my utmost admiration for Hudson. He’s head over heels in love with Allie and isn’t hesitant nor ashamed to grovel big time. He was even willing to face her entire family, who are very expressive Italians, in order to win Allie back during their brief break up. I also want to applaud Allie’s brilliance and intelligence, as well as her support for Hudson especially when she found out about his dyslexia. She made him feel safe and at ease after telling her about it after hiding it from everyone for a long time.

I feel like I have spoiled a lot already, but are we having a novel about Hudson’s brother? He’s the absolute sweetest and has been selfless in helping him with his dyslexia for so many years!

Anyway, pick this one up for the sweetest celebrity/STEM romance novel that will surely make you swoon!
