Lola is a book lover with a *slight* romance obsession and a passion for love. Especially love between sassy women and huge, growly magical men ;)
When she's not reading or writing up a storm, she's hanging out with her husband and three kids, or baking something sugary that she *probably* shouldn't eat (but will).
A guide to her books can be found on her website. All of her series can be read entirely on their own, so there's no necessary reading order.

Character Backgrounds and Plot Summary
Never Flirt with a Dragon: Mate Mountain, Book 2 by Lola Glass continues the paranormal romance world of Mate Mountain with Jasper and Miranda at the center of the story. Jasper is the leader of the Thunder, the dragon shifters responsible for guarding the supernatural prison hidden inside Mate Mountain. He carries the weight of leadership and security on his shoulders, making him a powerful and intimidating presence. Beneath that commanding exterior, however, is someone who takes his responsibilities seriously and protects the people around him with fierce loyalty.
Miranda serves as an engaging counterpart to Jasper. Where Jasper can come across as intense and controlled, Miranda brings personality, emotion, and a different perspective that helps balance the story. Their dynamic creates the foundation for a romance built around attraction, tension, and navigating the complications that come with supernatural relationships.
The story blends romance with the larger Mate Mountain world and its ongoing supernatural dangers. The dragon shifter element adds excitement and high stakes while the relationship between Jasper and Miranda remains the emotional core. As the two spend more time together, their connection deepens and they are forced to confront both external threats and personal obstacles. Readers familiar with the first book will appreciate returning to this world and seeing additional layers added to the mountain and its supernatural community.
Highlights and Limitations
One of the strongest aspects of this audiobook is the chemistry between Jasper and Miranda. Lola Glass does a good job of creating romantic tension while still giving both characters enough personality to stand on their own. Jasper’s protective nature is especially appealing for readers who enjoy possessive but devoted paranormal heroes. I loved how dominant Jasper was and how he took charge from the moment the heat was triggered.
The world itself is another highlight. Mate Mountain continues to feel populated and interconnected rather than existing solely for one couple’s story. The supernatural prison concept gives the setting an interesting foundation and adds additional stakes beyond the romance itself.
The pacing is also fairly strong overall. The story moves quickly and keeps events unfolding without becoming bogged down by lengthy exposition. Readers who enjoy fast paranormal romances with fated mates and strong romantic development will likely appreciate this aspect.
One limitation is that some elements may feel familiar to frequent paranormal romance readers. Certain relationship beats and mate tropes follow expected patterns, so readers seeking something highly unpredictable may find fewer surprises. The quick pacing can also occasionally limit deeper exploration of certain emotional moments or world details that could have added even more depth.
Narration
Nick Mondelli and Renee Thorn work well together as narrators and help bring the dual perspectives to life. Nick Mondelli captures Jasper’s commanding personality effectively. His performance gives Jasper a confident and protective tone that fits the dragon shifter leader role very naturally. He helps emphasize Jasper’s strength while still allowing emotional moments to come through. I do like a deeper voice for such a huge supernatural character, but Nick did a good job.
Renee Thorn provides a performance that complements the story nicely. She gives Miranda warmth and personality while making her emotional reactions believable. Her delivery helps maintain Miranda’s individuality and prevents her from being overshadowed by Jasper’s larger presence.
Together, the dual narration format enhances the listening experience because it creates a clearer distinction between viewpoints and adds more energy to the romantic interactions. The narrators maintain a good pace and make the story easy to follow.
Final Opinion
Never Flirt with a Dragon delivers a fun paranormal romance with dragon shifters, fated mate elements, protective instincts, and enough supernatural action to keep the story moving. Jasper and Miranda have an enjoyable dynamic, and the larger Mate Mountain setting continues to expand in interesting ways. While some familiar romance tropes appear throughout the story, the engaging characters and strong narration help make it an entertaining listen.
Fans of fast paced paranormal romance with dragon shifters, supernatural communities, and protective heroes will likely find this audiobook to be an enjoyable addition to the Mate Mountain series.
I liked this! However the stakes for this one were much much lower when compared to the first book in the series. That isn't to say it was bad because it was not. The relationship featured in this novel was much more down to earth. It was awkward with a lot of figuring out to do. It was as normal as paranormal romance gets if that makes sense. It was great and I'm looking forward to reading future books in this series!
I liked this book better than the first. There was less drama and I adored the communication between Randa and Jas. The way they talked through their problems felt realistic and was just *chef's kiss*, acknowledging their flaws and finding ways to work through them. The whole aspect of Jas being a dragon also got more room.
Rating: 5🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟's -》Pre-Review《- I HAD to get my hands on this book after reading the first one in the series (an ARC from NetGalley)! I love romance novels that branch off and give each character a unique storyline! Book #2 is about one of Elody's best friends, and August's brother. Of course the third book is the other brother and Elody's other best friend. Spoiler: I also bought that one 🤭👀 -》Review《- I absolutely loved this book! I still would say the first one was my favorite, but again each book has its own set of unique characters that all deal with different backgrounds and traumas. Like the first book, my major drawback is the whole 'Girl can't live without boy' trope, and overall the female that sacrifices her whole life just to make the guy comfortable. It's more understandable given the circumstances in the book, doesn't mean I'm happy about it though. The main characters are Jasper and Miranda. Jasper is very closed off and uptight, and Miranda has anxieties over making decisions. They make a great match. The last half of this book is basically just them figuring out how to have a relationship, which I honestly enjoyed more than the first half, which was sex with some plot. Overall, I'm already opening book three..
Listened to the audiobook while simultaneously reading the ebook. Helped me while I was restless before bed. Cozy, mindless, and extremely low angst. Just a chill, sexy fun read.
First of all, i am obsessed with the cover! Its so pretty!! This is book 2 in the Mate Mountain series. This story is about Miranda, ( prefers to be called Randa) and Jasper (Jas) . We are introduced to them at August and Elodie's wedding reception. ( They are from book 1 in the series). Randa is one of Elodie's best friends and Jasper is August's brother. Jasper's heat was ignited when Randa sat next to him at Elodie's wedding to escape the bickering between her twin sister Viola (Vi) and Jasper's brother Eli. She thought it would be the safest option as they both stayed away from Jasper as he's a little grump but little did she know she'd be whisked away on his dragon's back..
💫 Dragon Shifter & Human 💫 Dual POV 💫 One Bed 💫 Grumpy & sunshine vibe 💫 Forced Proximity 💫 Touch her and ☠️ 💫 He's a virgin 💫 Age Gap (doesn't mention exact ages) 💫 HEA
I loved their chemistry, the passion and possessiveness! The dual POV really helped with connecting to them both and understanding their emotions and fears. I likes the writing style, Lola makes it hard to put the book down! This book was a real page turner.
This can be read as standalone but the books are linked , so it's better to read in order as they all make appearances in the other books and it might be confusing seeing a lot of names, It will give you a better reading experience knowing their story. I can't wait to read the next book!! Also, I loved getting more of Elodie and August!! ✨5/5✨
I love Lola Glass, but this one hurt a little. The secondhand embarrassment was strong enough to make me pause more than once. It took until about 75 percent in for them to show any real chemistry that was not just physical. I really needed that way earlier. Without it, the relationship felt kind of hollow for most of the book. The ending also felt rushed. Like the author was trying to tie everything up quickly instead of letting it land. Some moments that should have hit hard just did not.
It is not a terrible book. It just does not live up to what I expect from her. I have seen her do this so much better.
This book is an exhilarating, steamy, quick read that you will not want to miss.
This is the second book of this series but can be read as a standalone.
The heat between Randa and Jasper ignites in more ways than one, quite literally, as Randa accidentally triggers the dragon shifter's heat. The result? They must decide whether to embrace the mate bond or fight it at all costs. This internal struggle, combined with intense chemistry and sizzling tension, made this book such a wonderful read that I could not put down
What I absolutely loved about this book is the balance it strikes between romance and the unique dynamics of dragon shifters. While there is some world-building, the story truly focuses on Randa and Jasper’s relationship. Their chemistry is palpable, and the spicy moments certainly had me fanning myself to cool down!
One thing I loved about this book is how it picks up right where the first book left off.
While the book doesn’t delve too deeply into world-building, it doesn’t detract from the overall great read that it is! I found myself rooting for Randa and Jasper from start to finish, and the ending left me eager to start the next book straight away!
I really love the gentle, chill couples. Not much angst, just gotta get their communication down. This is the second book in the series, and I think I liked it more than the first. The couple was sweet, and though there were times they jumped to conclusions, they eventually talked it through. I loved Jasper. He seems like a strong leader with stability in spades. Him being paired with an artist who is indecisive is lovely. I can't wait for the next book.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I read this series out of order.... First 3, then 1 then 2. It was a great series and I loved it but this book wasn't as dramatic and as exciting as the other 2. doesn't make it bad just not as exciting. I LOVED how his heat was set off by drinking from her wine glass. Ugh so sexy. And I love that they just decided go give in to heat to seal the bond but it just didn't seem to be as exciting as the other books.
I love the brothers and I love the female characters. I wish there were more books to read in this mate mountain series.
I’d say it’s a 4.5 star for me. And I’m a half-full type of person here, so I’ll mark it as 5 cause it was more enjoyable than not.
The dynamic between the pairing was interesting and fun. I wish there had been a bit more talk/exploration in Jasper’s side of things. I feel like there was such a chance to expand on his feelings, or interactions with the Thunder, to show why he was how he was. But still a fun listen.
