Olena Day is on top of the world. She has her dream home—a condominium at the Mansions on Peachtree in Buckhead, a career she loves, and two handsome men vying for her affection. Reality TV is her shot at fifteen minutes of fame, and the opportunity for her literary agent to land Olena the book deal she’s been impatiently waiting on. Step behind the scenes of the highly competitive and unique world of reality dating shows, in this relationship-driven page-turner that keeps delivering surprises.

What is it that makes a professional woman who dislikes reality TV because of the way it portrays woman end up on a season of The One? (as the saying goes be careful when saying never)
After Olena walks away from her lucrative job as the highest paid Senior Key Accounts manager at Lutel Industries in the country, she lands a spot as the bachelorette of a reality show called The One. The season premier airs on Valentine's Day. There's several things that make this show different from the other reality shows on TV; The bachelorette is black, and forty-three and it's her plan not to allow the producers to make woman look stupid and to walk away with a book deal? But can Olena walk away with a book deal in one hand and a bachelor in the other?
This relatable relationship novel puts readers behind the scenes of reality TV show The One showcasing what real love and scripted love can look like. The story is told from the point of view of Jason Nix and Olena Day. As Olena travel to 10 different romantic cities and meet 10 bachelors the readers are on the date right along with them. As we draw near to the final show Godiva the shows executive tells Olena who they don't want her to choose, but will Olena follow the script or her heart? What is new and what I thoroughly enjoyed was the drama free episodes of The One. By the end the reader knows each character well and will be longing to visit them again in future books. Ms. Robison has a fantastic talent for writing good stories that deserves space on every reader's shelf. It is said that The One continues Olena' story from In Love with a Younger Man. One doesn't have to read In Love with a Younger Man to read The One.

2/24/2012 - I am loving this book 3/13/2012 - I finished and I so enjoyed it
The One by Cheryl Robinson is the follow-up novel to In Love with a Younger Man (my review – 4 stars). When we left Olena Day she was at a crossroad in a love triangle of sorts, and trying to decide what to do with the two young men begging for her love. When we pick-up the story almost a year later we find that Olena has made a decision…kind of.
The One takes us in a totally different direction—allowing readers to catch up on Olena Day, but also can be a stand alone book. Somewhat satisfied in her choice of men and at a new crossroad involving her career, Olena is given an opportunity to star in her own reality TV show. “Ten Romantic Destinations, Ten Eligible Bachelors, One Difficult Decision,” is the premise of the show that is pitched to Olena but two things stand in her way—she loathes reality TV shows, and she doesn’t know what being on the show would do to her relationship.
Although I enjoyed The One, I didn’t like it as much as In Love with Another Man. The premise of the reality show was a good one, but it didn’t bring the drama to the story that I needed, to make Olena’s decision worth jeopardizing her relationship. The side stories were interesting enough but left no resolution relationship wise for Olena or the other characters. At the end of the story, I had more questions than answers, which seems to always lead to another book.
All in all, The One is pretty decent read, and a good add if you haven’t completed your summer reading lists.
I enjoyed this read, not as much as "In Love with a Younger Man" but it kept my interest. The ending seemed to be abrupt to me, so much seemed to happen in the last 5% of the book. I know there has to be another book to follow since there seemed to be some loose ends, uncertainties and questions that we readers will want answered. All in all, I think it was a good book. It was one of the few times where I couldn't and still can't decide who "The One" should be for Ms. Olena Day. So I know more has to be brought to the surface for a quality decision to be made and I'm ready to read that story as well =).
