Net Slaves 2.0: Tales of Surviving the Great Tech Gold Rush

Rate this book
Changing only the names of the victims, Lessard and Baldwin give a humorous behind-the-scenes account of what became of American tech industry workers during and after the dot.com bust in this sequel to their 1998 book NetSlaves: True Tales of Working the Web. Nine chapters offer scathing accounts of downsized corporate workers, entrepreneurs, and technology professionals who transform into "neo-Luddites" shunning the Internet forever, "vigilantes" demanding justice for their mistreatment, or "grave robbers" who profited off the dying dot.coms. When it wasn't being too cutesy this was a true enough book. Take it from someone who slept in the server room.
