I don’t know where I went wrong. Whether it was letting a man convince me that suddenly, the things I’ve never wanted are right for me, or if simply believing the best in the person who I wasted three years of my life on was what lead me here.
To Cherry Peak. A small town nestled in the heart of Alberta, Canada.
The hometown of rising country star, Brody Steele.
It only takes one brief encounter to mark him as a broody jerk. An all-knowing, arrogant celebrity with a complex I don’t have the energy for.
But if I truly dislike him the way I’ve convinced myself I do, then why am I always looking for him in crowded rooms? Why are his surprisingly thoughtful gestures melting the wall of ice I’ve stuck between us?
Cherry Peak was supposed to be my fresh start, a place to heal and rebuild. Yet, just as I begin piecing my life back together, Brody’s preparing to leave, as if he hasn’t become a vital part of that journey.
The thought of losing him keeps me up at night. I don’t know if we’ll ever be able to find our footing, or if we were just stringing each other along the whole time.
Hannah is a twenty-something-year-old indie author from Western Canada. Obsessed with swoon-worthy romance, she decided to take a leap and try her hand at creating stories that will have you fanning your face and giggling in the most embarrassing way possible. Hopefully, that’s exactly what her stories have done!
Hannah loves to hear from her readers, and can be reached on any of her social media accounts.
It took me three days to finish this. It just wasn't holding my interest, and I kept losing focus. 🥲
I lost track of how many times Garrison (30) has left Poppy (26) in the course of this story, only for her to be understanding and forgiving of his ghosting every freaking time. Look, I really like Poppy's personality, but I can't stand this side of hers, like at all—the one that folds so quickly once Garrison returns after leaving her. 🤦♀️
He might love her, but he doesn't deserve her. Sorry, but I'm not sold on his love. This guy couldn't even find it in himself to choose her over his career. He said it himself; he was selfish for doing that and an idiot for thinking there's a future without Poppy by his side.
While he did acknowledge his shortcomings and make an effort to be deserving of her forgiveness, I still can't root for a guy who won't have trouble ghosting someone because he's scared of his feelings. I've read too many romances with such immature MMCs; I wish the author put a spin on this and made him more rational instead.
I only finished this (barely) without skimming because I really love Poppy. She's the only bright spot in this book. As for Garrison, he could piss off for all I care. 😒
Book info: - Insta-lust - Friends with benefits - Small town romance - Curvy FMC - No cheating, owd - OMD (not really, she went on a date after Garrison ghosted her, AGAIN) - Separation - HFN (in a relationship) 🤷♀️
"This feels like the start of something I’ll wait forever to see through to the end." I had the feeling I was going to love Poppy and Garrison. I wasn’t wrong. This book is sexier than the previous one, but it’s also deeper, and as a character-driven reader, that made my day.
"But as he plants his hands on his hips and scowls at me, his brows flying to his hairline as he waits expectantly for me to answer, I metaphorically seal my vagina up tight. Absolutely. Not." I’ll come right out and say it—Garrison is an asshole. Except I never truly believed that. There’s something about the way he tried so hard to keep everyone at a distance that told me there was something else there. And there is. Also, this guy is H.O.T!
"Poppy, her name was. The impertinent woman with the soul-eating, caramel-brown eyes and a curved figure handcrafted by the fucking gods above." I’m happy to say that Poppy is unapologetically curvy. I wish I had her (metaphorical) balls because she’s a badass. Her honesty is refreshing. She knows what she wants, and she goes for it.
"Is that what you’re used to in your life back wherever it is you came from? Having to beg for help when you clearly need it? Expecting someone to demand something of you when you do ask for it?" Garrison finds himself having to take a hiatus in Cherry Peak, of all places. The first time he and Poppy meet, sparks fly. Not the good kind, though. He’s used to people cowering in fear, and she’s not going to. Not by a long shot. But those sparks also lead to intense chemistry because there’s something about him that has her all hot and bothered, and there’s something about her feistiness that has him fantasizing about her.
"I could purr at the fire in his gaze as he watches me far too intently to be innocent. It’s not just my foggy thoughts that have me recognizing his interest. I’m not that far gone. He’s just not hiding it this time." Of course they both try to fight it. Poppy knows his reputation already, and Garrison is not looking for anything except getting out of Cherry Peak as soon as possible. However, Poppy’s traitorous body and Garrison’s filthiest fantasies don’t seem to have gotten the memo. They give in. And it’s glorious.
"What makes you think I like nice and sweet?" Garrison is used to calling the shots in the bedroom too, but he finds himself relinquishing control to Poppy. In fact, they both let go, and they’re as compatible as they come. They’re demanding—they know what they want from each other and are not afraid to ask for it. And did I mention hot? Because these two are fire together.
"Me: I didn’t know you wanted me to leave my number." "Poppy: Yeah, well, I want far more than your number right now." It was supposed to be one night of insanity. One night to burn away the fuel that keeps the fire burning between them. Especially since Garrison is in town for only eight weeks and Poppy’s not looking for forever either. They shouldn’t even be thinking about a repeat performance, but there’s a pull between them that won’t be ignored.
"I’d have sucked your cock the moment you stepped into this room with it already hard for me. That’s the power I have and the kind I crave. I take whatever the fuck I want in the bedroom. And tasting that dick is high on my to-do list." I loved that the dominant guy doesn’t know what to do with someone as outspoken and straightforward as Poppy. Maybe he’s used to women who play coy, but that’s not Poppy. And she will allow him to take control—if and when she sees fit. Yep, they match. 100%.
"If there is anyone who is above anyone, Poppy, you’re above me. I’m sorry if I made you feel otherwise." And then you start seeing another side of Garrison. You start to understand why he is the way he is and how he’s judged by others. But not Poppy. She sees—and he lets her see—more than he shows anyone else. And she’s not intimidated one bit by the strength and independence of this man… Especially when he shows her how loving he can actually be.
"I see you. All of you, and I love it all. Every piece, smooth and jagged. Cruel and sweet." I loved how they came together. How the sex was still hot but started veering toward something else. Something they’re not equipped to handle yet but will have to nonetheless. She’s more than capable of fighting her own battles, but he’s there for her anyway. And she comes through for him when she stands by him when he has to fight his.
"Yeah, honey. You’re my fucking woman. Hope you’re okay with never being single another day in your life. I’m keeping you for the rest of my life." I will tell you this—he messes up. But he’s also really good at groveling and acknowledging his mistakes. And when I mentioned this is a deeper book, I meant it. Garrison had to deal with some issues before he moved forward. Before he could truly be with Poppy. Because yes, he fell first. And I don’t think he realized how badly he did until it hit him in the face.
"Fuck, Poppy. Love you with everything I am," "Love you with everything I’ve ever been." This was a hot and loving journey of two people who had to come to terms with what they really wanted out of life, with what mattered most, with what was truly worth it. Spoiler alert: It’s each other.
I have a new fav from one of my fav authors! I have been waiting for Garrison's redemption story since we met him in His Greatest Muse (Catching Sparks can still be read as a standalone).
Garrison, CEO of a recording label he co-owns with his dad, has been exiled by his company after a bad judgment call that endangered one of their artists. Where does he land? In Cherry Peak as the newest worker at Steele Ranch. Garrison isn't happy nor open to the idea of settling into Cherry Peak, until he meets Poppy, owner of the local pole fitness studio. It's obvious to both of them that their physical chemistry is insane, so they don't try to deny it as they fall into a little benefits situation. However, Garrison has so much more to him than he lets others see, and Poppy gets a front row seat to the most vulnerable sides of him, both in and out of the bedroom. Poppy, too, has been yearning to be vulnerable with someone who doesn't try to put her in a box or make her feel ashamed of what she does for a living.
I loved every last part of this book. From Garrison and Poppy's friendship/romance to Garrison opening up to Steele Ranch and the local friend group, there were so many parts that gave me the warm feels inside. Don't even get me started on watching Garrison and his dad finally get to the root of the issues they clearly have had since we first met them. I almost cried several times, but I'm also a sucker for a misunderstood hero who just needs the right person to open them up to a new lease on life.
If you love small town, highly recommend because the community Hannah has created in Cherry Peak is top tier, and I can't wait for the next book!
TROPES: grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract, CEO billionaire/small town heroine, pole fitness heroine, friends with benefits, only vulnerable with her, pegging, redemption arc (hero), city boy turned country, groveling, he falls first and hard, he spoils her, plus size/curvy rep, found family, great friend group
TRIGGER WARNINGS: difficult parental relationships (has a satisfying resolution)
After reading, Strung Along, earlier this year and falling in love with Poppy and the small town of Cherry Peak I couldn't wait to get back and fully meet her. I was very curious how Garrison would fit into the mix. But these two weren’t just hot; they were explosive.
We met Garrison, and we know he's an enemy to Brody, Ana, and pretty much everyone else in his life. He's not only stumbled into Cherry Peak; he's forced to take leave for 2 months. Poppy is a town local, as her life is in Cherry Peak, from her friendships, family, to her job, which are the foundation of her life. Poppy knows she should stay away from Garrison; shouldn't be getting involved with him, but after a night, they both can't resist each other. It leads to more as they agree to keep it casual. But the more time these two spend together in and out of bed, those feelings become stronger. However, their relationship has an expiration date, when those unforgettable months come to an end. But as Garrison must return home, will they lay it all out on the line for each other?
Poppy is a powerhouse of a woman; she runs the town's pole studio, as she has ambitious goals, and is adventurous. She never imagined that someone as wonderful as Garrison could love her. However, Poppy is one of the best curvy representatives I have ever read about. She's just beautiful inside and out. I felt like I knew her as a friend. Garrison, good lord, this man doesn't show many people the real him; everyone knows him as the self-centered, jerk billionaire music CEO. He's heartbroken and lonely, as he's going through real out-of-the-fish moments and witnessing his life transform outside of the boardroom as he heals, discovers his passions, and spoils Poppy.
All in all, I thought Poppy and Garrison were two fantastic, strong characters. I loved their openness and how sexy they were. Hannah gave us more insight into new and old characters which made this one of those stories that made me want to pull up at Peak Side with them. I have a few theories about some couples and would love to see a novella about Wade and Eliza. This book has me excited to return to Cherry Peak very soon.
this book is so fun and so spicy. poppy is a confident queen and garrison is a GRUMPY billionaire who knows how to grovel!! the jealousy and groveling scenes in this were my absolute favs.
when garrison messes up at work, he’s sent to cherry peak for two months. he knows he’s going to hate the idyllic small town, but what he didn’t expect was to fall for the pole studio owning baddie, poppy. the banter is delicious, and again I have to stress the GROVELING. he was on his knees for her.
hannah tysm for the arc!
read if you like ✨ confident plus size rep ✨ grumpy billionaire ✨ small town ✨ found fam ✨ groveling
I love when a New to Me Author just takes me by surprise. That is the case here with Hannah Cowan. I snagged it when an audio book was offered and I was eager to dive in and see what Cherry Peak had to offer.
I thought Gary and Poppy were so good together! They had great chemistry and all their rough places seemed to fit together so well. They were compatible in so many ways. Gary may be in a bit of a tailspin when he ends up in Cherry Peak, but the more time he spends there and the more he and Poppy get to know one another he comes back to himself.
Their Friends with Benefits arrangement was sexy and adventurous. They sparked off each other and challenged each other. It was fire watching them push each other seggsually and learn new things about themselves. There is dynamic play and dominance switching, toys and dirty talk. Whew! Buckle up!
You are gonna be blushing like crazy if you give this a try. Maybe don't listen at the coffee shop like I was. Haha!
But it wasn't all just the spice and naughty bits. I was also very moved by watching Gary come back to himself. Seeing him face some parts of his life that he didn't like and coming to a new understanding with his father. It was great to see that growth in him.
Poppy was fierce right from the start but she had some growth too. She love s her life but there is so much more she can be. I feel like she did allow for Gary to grow but also didn't let him walk all over her. They had mature and real issues to face and I was touched multiple times watching it happen.
Overall, this was a great introduction to Hannah Cowan, I will be back for more very soon. The performances by Aiden Snow and Megan Wicks were also stellar. They enhanced the story beautifully.
I WAS NOT READY FOR HOW HOT THIS BOOK WOULD BE?!? DONT let that cover fool you because my gosh 😏🌶️💦
I loved Poppy & Garrison together!! They brought the heat but also opened up so many emotions which was much needed for the characters. Garrison is forced to go to the small town of Cherry Peak after he made a bad decision that results in one of the singers of his label to get hurt. Hes grumpy & not happy about it that is until he meets his match out amongst the hay—poppy. And this woman was so damn confident both sexually and physically & I loved everything about her! MAKE THAT MAN GROVELLLLLL 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 but also…MAKE HIS POCKETS HURT!! Garrison was so sweet & loving & his love language was definitely acts of service/gift giving bc OMFG…just wait. **swoon**
The audio was so good & I had the best time listening! I can’t wait to read the rest of this series!
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5
Tropes: Grumpy x sunshine Billionaire Small town Opposite attract FWB to lovers
Pack your bags because we’re going back to my favourite fictional (unfortunately) town and I couldn’t be happier.
We’re back in Cherry Peak but this time we’re following Anna’s best friend, Poppy and the famous douche, Garrison. I’ll be honest, when I found out that Garrison was the MMC in this book I gave a massive side eye, but let me tell you that he has quickly become a favourite of mine. His redemption arc and learning about his back story made me love him so much. The way he treats our girl? Like the queen she is. Him and Poppy together are absolute perfection and couldn’t be a better match.
Now let’s talk about miss Poppy girl. Poppy just oozes the confidence I wish I had. She’s a plus size, sex positive, unapologetically herself baddie who doesn’t take shit from anyone. She knows what she wants and won’t rest until she has it. As a plus size girl myself, Poppy made me feel like I could take over the world. She is everything and has joined her man in becoming a new favourite of mine.
Please just do yourself a favour and read this book/series. I promise you won’t regret it. The grovelling? The SPICE??? (Yes this is Hannah’s spiciest book yet so get your cold showers, extra underwear and vibes ready 🫢) The girl group? The side characters? Just unmatched and are everything to me.
4.5 ⭐ The way he calls her honey>>>> Y'all Garrison was supposed to be the rude asshole but he turned out to be a softy from inside 😭😭 I was hesistant to read about Garrison after reading about him in the previous books but Hannah definitely changed my opinion on that guy. He was a thoughtful and loving partner to Poppy. He was vulnerable and possessive. Such a 🤌🏻🤌🏻 combo. And Poppy, my god, Poppy was the most badass but also emotional character. She was bold and knew what she wanted from life and wasnt hesistant to take it. I wanna be her when I grow up! Watching them grow together and fall in love as the book progressed was the most beautiful thing ever! And you know the spice is spicing with such a beautiful and bold (see what I did there ;)) possessive couple in a Hannah Cowan book! Being back in Cherry Peak was also a dream. Seeing glimpses of Ana and Brody and Wade and Eliza were so fun!
phew what a journey this book was. I loved strung along but hear me out… this was so boring 🫣 I felt like there was no chemistry between the two main characters and honestly there wasn’t really a plot line besides them f*cking the whole time LOL (and some of it was just icky 👀🫣) NOW I will say it was super cute in some parts and I did enjoy Poppy’s character, however, I found Garrison to be insufferable and confusing to me. Like pick what you want my guy.
I really wanted to love this book because there were SO many amazing reviews but I just don’t think it was for me 🥺 however, if you are looking for a small town, smutty book, this is for you bestie. 🫶🏻
One thing about Poppy is she’s going to stand up for her man, even if he’s wrong😭
I liked the first half of this book, but I LOVED the second half(NOT including the easily avoided third act break up 🙃😐) But ignoring that annoying blip, I really loved how much they loved each other 🥹
**Thank you so much to Hannah Cowan for sending me an ARC!**
Intro:
Returning to Cherry Peak has never felt so good. The way I ate this story up was insane. I read 80% of in one sitting because I could not in good conscious set down my kindle. If I did, I wouldn't make it two minutes before I found myself needing to keep reading. Poppy and Garrison's story was searing and addicting, and I loved every second of it.
Summary:
Smart-ass, billionaire Garrison Beckett finds himself banished to Cherry Peak and Steele Ranch after a not-so-wise decision on his part as CEO of one of the most successful record labels in North America lands him in hot water. Frustrated beyond belief, he accepts his fate: get through two months working on the Ranch, make no lasting connections, and get the hell back to his job. That all goes out the window the moment he meets Poppy Huntsley. Pole studio owner and all-around badass, Poppy is hesitant to engage with Garrison but can't ignore the attraction between them. Let's just say, they for sure catch sparks immediately.
Review:
I was slightly worried to read this for two reasons: 1) Garrison's character was a known asshole in the beginning and I was nervous how that would be handled and 2) Hannah warned us this book was VERY spicy and I usually don't read too much with a heavy level of spice. Well, my worries were blown clean out of the water because Garrison's character arc was absolute perfection and the spice was so fucking hot I couldn't get enough.
Garrison never stood a chance. After their first time together, Poppy is quite literally all he can think about. Watching his walls thaw and melt while he slowly exposed himself to Poppy was so endearing and heartwarming. All the things he did for Poppy were true acts of service and love for her. I mean come on, he bought he a new washer and dryer after maybe their second time together! Watching Garrison fall in love with Cherry Peak too was also so sweet. The fact that Kip chose him and got sassy when he would leave made me smile so big.
I want to be Poppy when I grow up. It is so refreshing seeing a thicker main character represented where her story isn't centered around her wait. Hannah did a fantastic job squashing the beliefs of modern society that women have to look and act a certain way because of the way they look or accept the comments and beliefs of others. I wanted to give Poppy a high-five when she punched the firefighter in the face for his leering. The care she showed for Garrison made my heart melt because he'd never felt something like that before.
The way Hannah writes is just always outstanding. This book has the perfect balance of spice, character development, and plot. My worry from before was that it would be all spice without the other bits but I couldn't have been more wrong. I honestly would read just a book of Garrison and Poppy going at it because damn. It was that hot. The story could not have been done better. There was a kind of third act break up in this, but to me it was completely realistic and justified. And lasted for about three pages lol. There was never any doubt in my mind that these two would not end up together.
Final Thoughts:
I am still thoroughly in love with Cherry Peak, and I am obsessed with Garrison and Poppy. I can see some people saying the way they fell for each other felt a little insta-lovey but I don't care. Like I said before, there was no denying they would get together and end up together. Even their horses end up "dating." It was just awesome. I cannot wait for the next Cherry Peak book because I am OBSESSED with Johnny already and we've barely met him. I can only imagine Johnny and Rory's story will be just as amazing as this one.
tropes: 🐴 friends with benefits 💿 small town romance 🐴 billionaire romance 💿 city boy/country girl 🐴 plus size rep
these two were something else - poppy and garrison are so darn magnetic. i love how they could not keep their hands off of each other. in this book you will literally go through all the emotions with these love, frustration, sadness, happiness, all the above. poppy is this confident plus size woman, and let me just say i love to see it. hannah writes the best BEST BESTTTT (x infinity) plus size romances. she just does such an amazing job at making you feel seen and also inspired to love the body you are born with. i literally need a best friend like her (atp i need to be a part of the cherry peak girls). garrison damn him, he made me fall for his charm. the grumpy billionaire made me a fan. truly i loved to see his character development throughout this whole book. it was so wonderful to see him finally get taken care of but also see how much he means to people. its so easy to be your biggest enemy, to doubt yourself, think you don’t deserve happiness but i am so glad he gave himself the chance to have love in his life. i love these two and go read ya’ll they will put you through all the emotions and then you’ll be like me going thru withdrawals.
thanks hannah for letting me arc read i am so darn grateful for you
When she has the broody billionaire on his knees grovelling >>>
Hannah really did THAT👏🏻👏🏻 another 5 star read from one of my fav authors!! Poppy is so sassy and confident and not afraid to say what she thinks and I ADORED her!! The way she was so protective of Garrison and took care of him when he was sick MY HEART🥹
The body positively and plus size rep was A+!! We love to see a heroine who’s confident in her body and wants to empower other woman 👏🏻
And then there’s Garrison!! The broody billionaire who has a secret soft side and has the best character growth >> the emotional aspect of him was so unexpectedly soft and precious! I love him🥹
Hands down my fav in the series so far! And DAMN Hannah really thought the spice (her spiciest book to date). I just can’t wait for the next books!
Holy hell this was so damn good! Small Town, Billionaire, Grumpy/sunshine. The spice hit around 20% and it did not disappoint.
Catching Sparks is book two in the Cherry Peak series and is the follow up to Strung Along. It is a standalone so you don’t have to read book 1 to enjoy this one.
Poppy is such a strong and independent FMC. Garrison is such an arrogant and possessive MMC. I loved their relationship from start to finish. It was fun to watch their tolerance of each other morph into being obsessed with each other. They complimented each other so well and I'm so proud of their communication and compromising.
Tropes: Opposites Attract City Boy | Country Girl Plus Size Rep Sex Positivity He Falls First & Hard GROVELING PEGGING SPICY AF
Poppy and Garrison are absolutely everything!!! They are going into my book couple hall of fame because I swear I can’t even express how much I adore them. Poppy is my spirit animal!
TROPES ⬇️ ✨ Small Town ✨ Billionaire ✨ Curvy FMC ✨ Grumpy Sunshine ✨ Opposites Attract
I freaking loved every second of this! poppy and Garrison are freaking explosive from the moment they first meet! Garrison is the alphahole music exec we’ve loved to hate, and Poppy is the curvy pole studio owner in Cherry Peak. When Garrison is exiled for two month, he expects to hate everything about the small town, but the second he lays eyes on Poppy is a whole new ballgame!
I loved the banter, the spice, the groveling. Garrison surprised me with how vulnerable he could be with Poppy and I loved watching him open up to her and heal! Ans Poppy! God I want to be this woman when I grow up. Easily one of my favorite FMCs, she was so confident in who she was and just so freaking amazing.
I couldn’t put this down and when Hannah said this was her spiciest book yet, she wasn’t lying, 🔥🔥🔥 This book was an inferno!
Definitely recommend! One of my favorite reads this year!
ALSO: now that the narration is out this kicked this already perfect book up a notch! Aiden Snow as Garrison was a mind altering experience for my ears. There is one scene that was scorching in paper… and on audio… RIP me I am now just flames 🥵🥵🥵.
Meghan Wicks is a perfect Poppy and it just reminded once again just how dang good this story is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ narration!
💳 Small Town Romance 🌸 Billionaire Romance 💳 Grumpy/Sunshine 🌸 Forced Proximity 💳 City Man turned Horse Guy 🌸 Caretaking trope (!!!) 💳 Opposites Attract 🌸 Stick Shift Lessons (!!!) 💳 Alphahole Hero 🌸 Curvy Heroine 💳 Dual POV (First Person)
Y'all ain't READY for Poppy and Garrison.
If you've read His Greatest Muse, you've already met Garrison Beckett. He's the asshole CEO who makes an appearance on Noah's tour and is also featured in Strung Along. When Hannah told me that Garrison would be the book 2 MMC, I was honestly nervous bc he was SUCH a douche in her other books. But the redemption arc this man gets??? 10/10.
Honestly, Poppy is a QUEEN. She's everything I aspire to be in life. She is confident, she is a businesswoman, she is thicccc, she knows her worth and she is stubborn as hell. The perfect match to give Garrison Beckett a run for his money and lord does she.
If you're looking for a romance book with - a grumpy possessive mmc who falls hard af - a sunshine fmc who's strong and doesn't take any shit - an adorable small town, hilarious side characters and horses!!! - multiple spicy scenes featuring a woman in charge
I loved every second of Catching Sparks. Hannah is keeping us well-fed in 2024 with the Cherry Peak series. Thank you for the opportunity to alpha-read & review this book 👏
i was an alpha reader for this and a much better review will come later but oh my GOD. this is hannah’s best book to date. i don’t make the rules. it just is what it is.
Truthfully, it’s much higher than a 5 star read. This book hit everything and more. Poppy and Garrison are the number one HC universe couple. The characters alone are so beautifully created and shine on their own, but when they come together they are truly a force. Nothing but sparks, literally. It’s lust, love, so much passion and communication. This book had so many strong aspects in a relationship showing how mature and strong these two are.
Poppy Huntsly, gorgeous, strong, fierce and badass. She is incredibly independent, always wants to have a good time, did I mention she’s a plus size pole dancer? She is a business👏🏼 woman👏🏼 Poppy is just like the name of this business: Beautifully Bold. She embodied who I want to be as a woman. Poppy is just hot. She is sexy. She is in charge at all times and gets what she wants😏 Garrison is walked like a dog by this woman.
Garrison Beckett. I don’t know where to start with this man besides an apology to how against him I was. HGM2 and SA did not do him any justice. My girls know how quickly I retracted mt hate for him. His redemption arc is unmatched. The best I’ve read. Garrison went from my most hated character to my favorite in the matter of 2 chapters. Garrisons brooding gets humbled quick by Poppy. He becomes lovable, he realizes feelings are real and will move moutains for his woman. He even loved Cherry Peak because of her.
The love between the characters is fireworks from the start. It is instalust. When they come together its nothing but sparks, only the two of them against the world, you can feel their love burn through the pages. The spice in this book is top tier. The spiciest book I have read, Hannahs spiciest book she has written. I was blushing and sweating (sweating between my thighs too🥵). While being the two hottest people ever while also having the hottest relationship. Their relationship is SO HEALHTY! No stupid problems, very lets see what happens and always care for eachother. The communication and love for eachother had me feeling some type of way.
When I say this is the sexiest book couple to exist, and you argue- I know you haven’t read it. I will scream from the rooftops to read this book for the rest of my life. This is one of my favorite books, a comfort read now (ive read it 3 times and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made)
Hannah Cowan is always a must read for me and forever will be. She can write whatever she wants to and it will come our flawless each and every time. Cherry Peak is such a perfect little world and I cannot wait to see what book 3 has in store.
HANNAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!! My girl. Holy sh-t. This book? I’m obsessed. I am still thinking about it daily and I read it the day the arc’s went out. 🤭
Book 1 gave us sweet & swoony Brody Steele. It gave us the first look at Cherry Peak and the friends inside of it. Book 2 is all of those things, but with an incredible amount of F I L T H Y 🌶️ to go with it.
Poppy is a smalltown girl with big city dreams and goals. She owns her own pole studio business to help other women have a place to be themselves and grow their confidence. Garrison is the grumpy record label exec who has been sent to the Steele ranch as punishment for a bad decision turned PR nightmare.
Poppy is one of the few people who gives him a chance. Gives him the benefit of the doubt and see beyond his grumpy facade. He wants her just as bad as she wants him (the man is literally popping boners every time he sees her 🤭). A ONS turns into two, which turns into secret FWB, which almost never works out.
Is the groveling trope your fave? Then this book if for YOU. The amount of energy, gifts, money spent, and time Garrison puts into apologizing to Poppy after a big argument is the best I have ever read. THE MAN TAKES HER TO BORA BORA!? 🏝️😍
You better hold on to your hats for the spice in this book, y’all. I topped out at 372 highlights for this one, and there’s a reason why!!! 😮💨🧎🏼♀️ they honestly nearly melted my kindle.
I’m in love with them. When they were at their highest in the good feelings, so was I. When they were in the trenches fighting and crying, SO. WAS. I. 😭 He sees her curves as beautiful and she sees his beautiful soul that no one else gets to know. Opposites attract has never been so perfect.
Tropes: small town • cowboy • billionaire • opposites attract • curvy MFC • grumpy/sunshine • groveling • p e g g i n g • he falls first • hurt/comfort
Thank you SOOOOO much Hannah for letting me be on your team and read this early!! 🥹
ALC REVIEW 🎧
You’ve never lived until you hear Aiden Snow call you a “good girl”. I’m fully convinced now.
I am obsessed with this book. Completely feral for Garrison. So when the audio came out? I 100% was jumping on the train 😂.
The dual narration is perfection and the way the voice actors use their gifts to make it come alive was so magical. I truly felt like I was reading it all over again, getting lost in Cherry Peak right alongside them.
This book is loaded with spice. So when you HEAR it? 🫠 Buckle. Up. Melting on the spot is possible. ⚠️
Thank you SOOOO much Hannah for letting me listen to this early!! ILY forever!
”She thinks this place is a dream, but I wonder if she knows that the only one I have is her.”
nobody writes small town romance like hannah cowan. nobody writes the most heartfelt friendships like hannah cowan. nobody writes a redemption arc like hannah cowan.
wow. just W O W.
everything about this is hannah’s best book to date. from garrison’s redemption arc, poppy being the most iconic woman ever written, more adorable friendships, the banter, the humour, the SPICE… you simply won’t find better than this.
garrison beckett is well known for being arrogant, rude, and just a typical asshole billionaire. but after reading his story, that couldn’t be further from the truth (except from the billionaire part bc hello sir 🧎🏻♀️). this man has been THROUGH IT. he’s coasted through life racking up his bank account and building up walls to keep everyone out. throw in an unexpected trip to cherry peak and this man finally has time to learn himself, care for himself, and open himself up more than he has in years. his past isn’t an easy one, but his future has never looked brighter.
poppy huntsley is an icon. her confidence is truly inspiring, she is who she is and she makes no apologies for it. this is a woman who focuses on being true to herself and i love that she knows her worth and refuses to settle for less. poppy is the definition of a girls girl and puts her heart and soul into empowering women every day. she has such a caring heart and is everything you want to be and more.
these two compliment each other in ways i never saw coming. their banter is unmatched, their chemistry is off the fucking charts, and their love knows no bounds. what started off as friends with benefits blooms into one of the most beautiful relationships that i’ve ever read. loving each other comes as easy as breathing, and the way they care for each other everyday had me swooning.
and the friendships?! i loved watching the relationship change between garrison and brody, and johnny is just the sweetest soul and exactly the kind of friend garrison needed. the grumpy billionaire even had grumpy wade loving him in his own way. and the love and care between the girl gang had me sobbing, this trio will always be my favourite 🥹
i enjoyed most of it but god some parts were so embarrassingly cringe to me, like the plane scene after THAT GIFT (sweet mother of baby jesus that was unexpected). i simply couldn't read that part with a straight face and i am being so fr, but if some people like that... who am i to judge them? 😬 and also the epilogue, oh lord i knew it was gonna happen at some point and, just like the other one, i skipped it altogether.
Poppy and Garrison (i absolutely LOATHE the name the author picked idc)... well they did have some sort of chemistry but were pretty boring as characters. besides her being a pole dancer and the constant wild sex these bitches had, they had no personality whatsoever so it pretty much ruined this book for me. it's a good thing that it kept me entertained tho.
The first book in the series, Strung Along, was a solid three star for me. But the second book fell far short of even average. In fact, it was...dare I say, boring? As a FMC, Poppy had such potential, but the author instead decided to turn her into a doormat. Garrison, the MMC, had zero redeeming qualities, and almost no character development throughout the book. Beyond the physical side of their relationship, they had zero chemistry together.

Garrison Beckett, CEO of Swift Edge Records, stumbles into Cherry Peak not by choice but as a form of exile. He views his stay as a punishment, while the town sees it as an opportunity for him to grow. Garrison is everything Poppy avoids: he’s rude, conceited, and infuriating. Yet, the undeniable spark between them leads to a friends-with-benefits arrangement. As his two-month stay nears its end, they face the harsh reality that his life is in Toronto, while Poppy’s is rooted in Cherry Peak. Can their love bridge the gap between their two worlds, or are they destined to be just another Cherry Peak legend?
The audiobook, narrated by Megan Wicks and Aiden Snow, brings the characters to life perfectly—Megan captures Poppy’s vibrant personality, while Aiden nails Garrison’s gruff yet vulnerable side- YES!
