Xavier Dorison est né en 1972 à Paris et passe trois années en école de commerce, où il organise le festival BD des Grandes Écoles, puis travaille chez Barclays Corp. Dès 1997, il écrit le premier tome du Troisième Testament, série co-scénarisé et dessiné par Alex Alice qui remporte un succès immédiat. Il publie ensuite deux séries aux Humanoïdes Associés : Prophet avec Matthieu Lauffray et Sanctuaire avec Christophe Bec. Il co-scénarise, avec Fabien Nury, le film Brigades du Tigre, qui sera également adapté en bande dessinée aux éditions Glénat avec Jean-Yves Delitte au dessin. Il co-scénarise, toujours avec Fabien Nury, le western fantastique W.E.S.T. mis en image par Christian Rossi. Et lance début 2007 une fresque pirate : Long John Silver. En 2008, il crée la série Les Sentinelles et participe au projet XIII Mystery, en scénarisant l'album sur La Mangouste. En 2008 également, il écrit Le Syndrome d'Abel pour son comparse Marazano, de retour au dessin. En septembre 2010, il s’associe à nouveau avec Alex Alice et commence la publication de l’antésuite du Troisième Testament, intitulée Julius, toujours chez Glénat. En mars 2012, paraît chez Dargaud le premier tome d’Asgard, série dans l’univers des vikings, dessinée par Ralph Meyer. En 2013 paraîtra chez Glénat une série coécrite avec son frère Guillaume Dorison.

I liked seeing a little of the background of Silvio before becoming the president of the farm. I wish the author would have showed more as I felt that was really interesting.

As I read this story and see events unfold I can't stop wondering if this method of fighting authoritarianism would actually work in real life. Obviously, that is a topic for a different time, but I don't think it would. I think this kind of protest only works in a democratic setting. In a dictatorship there is no margin to have the slightest divergent opinion that might threat the dictator.

It was nice to know more about the dogs and the reasons why they obey Silvio.

Unfortunately, now I'll have to wait a long time for the 4th and final volume that hasn't even been released in France, as far as I know.

But I'm sure that it will be a wait worth for.

Ik dacht even dat dit het laatste deel was, maar er komt er nog één! Dit deel begon een beetje grim en ik merkte dat ik behoefte had aan iets meer hoop, maar dat kwam gelukkig ook. Dit deel eindigt mooi, maar ook spannend, waardoor ik hoop dat het vierde en laatste deel snel uitgebracht zal worden.

Довгий час на моїй полиці чекав свого моменту третій альбом французького бандесінe «Замок тварин, Том 3: Ніч праведників» від Ксав’є Дорізона та Фелікса Делепа. Нарешті прочитав і знову залишився задоволений серією.

У цьому альбомі історія продовжує показувати тяжку реальність диктатури, яку уособлює бик Сильвіо зі своїми псами. Здавалося б, його влада непорушна, а тварини приречені вічно тягнути ярмо принижень і страху. Але Міс Бенгалор, кролик Цезар і старий пацюк Азелар знову змінюють шлях — ненасильницький спротив. Вони відроджують символ «Маргариток» і намагаються переконати інших мешканців замку, що перемога можлива не лише силою, а й хитрістю, єдністю та вірою у справедливість. Цей шлях виявляється складнішим за відкрите протистояння, але він дарує шанс на справжні зміни.

Читаючи «Ніч праведників», я постійно відчував напругу. Тут немає відвертих батальних сцен — переживання виникає інакше. Воно народжується у моменти, коли тварини кидають виклик системі, коли відмовляються від покори, коли обирають шлях свободи замість вигоди. Кожна сцена змушує затамувати подих, бо ти не знаєш, чи зможуть герої витримати випробування, чи їх зламають ще жорстокіше.

Особливої уваги заслуговує Міс Бенгалор. Якщо в перших томах вона виглядала як наївна мрійниця, то тепер ми бачимо в ній справжню лідерку, яка зростає разом зі своєю боротьбою. Її шлях — це не лише політична чи соціальна боротьба, але й особисті жертви, навіть у стосунках із власними дітьми. Поруч із нею — мудрий Азелар і вірний Цезар, які допомагають втримати віру у спільну справу. Їхня боротьба у цьому томі стала тихішою, спокійнішою, але від того не менш сильною. Вона вселяє у тварин крихту надії — і ця надія дорожча за будь-яку перемогу силою. Принаймні в їхніх думках.

Малюнок Фелікса Делепа далі красивий, деталізований і водночас емоційний. Кожен кадр — ніби картина, яку хочеться роздивлятися чим довше. Художник майстерно грається з кольорами: теплі чи холодні відтінки допомагають передати драму, страх або ж проблиск світла серед темряви. Вже у третьому томі зрозумів, що мене вражає, як він зумів залишити тварин «тваринами», не перетворюючи їх на карикатурних людей, але водночас наділивши їх людськими емоціями.

Важливим моментом для мене стали методи боротьби. Автори свідомо відмовляються від класичного підходу «насильство проти насильства» й пропонують складніший шлях — ненасильницький спротив. Часом він здається сумнівним і навіть утопічним, адже диктатури рідко падають без крові. Але це саме той авторський погляд, що змушує читача задуматися: можливо, справжня сила — у здатності не відповідати жорстокістю на жорстокість? Звісно, воно звучить аж занадто смішно в реаліях нашого часу. Та я бачу в цьому виклик, який автори кидають не лише своїм героям, а й нам, читачам. І цікаво буде дочекатися, до чого приведе цей вибір далі.

Підсумовуючи, ця історія далі поєднує в собі політичну алегорію, драму і красу візуального мистецтва. Вона тримає у напрузі, змушує співпереживати і розмірковувати, а водночас дарує справжню естетичну насолоду від малюнку. Я раджу цю серію будь-кому, навіть тим, хто далекий від мальованих історій.

Out of the three volumes in the series, so far, I think this one is my favorite! The animals are still struggling and fighting for their freedom, but they are a united force and throughout most of the book they are hopeful things will get better! For that reason, most of this book has a lighter mood.
However, it does end in a cliffhanger that does not suggest good things are coming for the group of brave animals... I cannot wait to read what comes next!

This volume has extra beautiful art, because a lot of the scenes happen during Spring. The art style chosen for this story truly elevates the whole experience of reading it!

"O Castelo dos Animais" é uma série de BD que se inspira na obra de George Orwell, "O Triunfo dos Porcos", mas não é uma adaptação desta. Parece-me até que vai um pouco mais longe, dando um maior ênfase na obtenção e manutenção da liberdade através da paz e da justiça.

Volume 3 - A Noite dos Justos
Neste terceiro volume, os nossos heróis revolucionários, a gata, o coelho e o rato, têm como tarefa convencer os restantes animais a não ceder à violência. O instinto primário natural é combater a violência com mais violência, e é difícil resistir a este. Mas a luta justa pelos direitos, embora mais difícil, deve ser feita de forma pacifista.
Se inicialmente a luta incidia no acesso aos direitos mais básicos, como a comida ou o aquecimento, neste volume os animais reclamam o direito à democracia, o direito de poderem eleger quem os governa.

Esta não é uma simples história de animais, é uma história política muito bem conseguida, conseguindo não ser moralista ou paternalista.
Quanto à arte, é maravilhosa. Os animais, apesar de apresentarem comportamentos humanos, não perdem as suas características naturais de animais. As ilustrações são um deleite e acrescentam imenso ao argumento.

C'est toujours un plaisir pour moi de suivre les aventures de Miss B, César et les animaux du château. Avec l'arrivée du printemps, les pages retrouvent de la couleur et de la gaieté. J'ai particulièrement aimé la double page avec les marguerites. Je n'ai pu m'empêcher de penser au film Les suffragettes au cours de ma lecture, que j'avais étudier au college et qui resonne désormais davantage. Ce n'est peut être qu'une impression mais je trouve que les animaux ont, dans ce tome, des mimiques et des gestuelles plus humaines, à des moments où c'est justement le bon ou le mauvais de l'humain qu'on retrouve dans l'histoire. Il y a, selon moi, un équilibre fort agréable entre ce qui se passe pour nos protagonistes et le vécu dans le camp adverse, mention particulière pour le flash back de Silvio et les scènes avec numéro 1 que j'affectionne beaucoup. De plus, les relations entre les personnages en sont approfondies.
Je suis impatient de lire le tome 4 et recommande aux lecteurs de poursuivre ou commencer cette lecture aussi agréable que riche d'apprentissage.

La révolte des animaux suit son rythme de croisière, c'est donc toujours très bien, ni plus ni moins. Ici l'accent est porté sur le sacrifice demandé par une telle opposition politique, notamment dans le cercle familial, ce qui n'est pas inintéressant du tout mais toujours un peu romantisé. Le personnage du rat Azélar me dérange de plus en plus, étranger moralisateur et interventionniste au possible qui cherche à imposer ses codes à une société qui n'est pas la sienne, un peu comme s'il s'agissait d'une expérience sociale.

This is the third and next to last part of the graphic novel adaptation of Orwell's Animal Farm. I enjoyed this classic dystopian story and the illustration is immaculate. We follow the animals that rebelled against the president after their spirits had been shaken and their thoughts on whether they should resort to violence divided. Miss B once again decides to set an example, while not both of her kittens have an understanding for their mother's absence in their lives...

Il y a quelque chose de profondément optimiste derrière la noirceur, peut-être un peu idéaliste avec une théorie à la Ghandi, mais la froideur politique des gouvernants ramène sur Terre et promet un volume de conclusion passionnant. Les dessins sont absolument superbes! Comme du Urasawa appliqué aux animaux en mode bd franco-belge avec des couleurs parfaites

Edit à la relecture: ce qui me frappe le plus, c’est la capacité à faire vivre ces animaux avec un trait et une construction des pages absolument parfaits. Quand on pense que Felix Delep n’en est qu’à ses débuts, ça laisse songeur

Schon seit dem ersten Band fasziniert mich diese Reihe mit ihrer einfühlsamen, aber oftmals auch grausamen Handlung, die unserer Gesellschaft wahrhaft den Spiegel vorhält. Doch der Wind weht langsam aus einer anderen Richtung, denn den die Tiere wehren sich. Aber was können sie tun, um Silvio und seine Streitmacht aus Hunden entgegenzutreten, ohne dabei wie Silvio vorzugehen? Ideen sind gefragt!


Die Schranken verhärten sich immer mehr und die Emotionen kochen hoch, denn das Gefüge im Schloss der Tiere reißt immer mehr auseinander. Im Vordergrund steht dabei nicht mehr nur Miss Bengalore, sondern auch viele weitere Tiere, denn die Ungerechtigkeiten nehmen immer weiter zu. Mittlerweile ist es zu einer Art Krieg gekommen, der vorallem den friedlicheren Tieren schadet, da diese nicht wie Stier Silvio mit aller Gewalt vorgehen. War es schon in vorherigen Bänden emotional, legte man hier noch eine Schippe drauf und zerschmetterte damit regelrecht mein Herz.



Denn auch wie andere Leser habe ich Miss Bengalore, Cäsar und die anderen in mein Herz geschlossen. Wie hätte es auch anders sein können, denn man schaffte es den anthropomorph Figuren eine Seele zu geben. Um so interessanter war es, dass diese Seele auch einmal Silvio hatte, denn man bekam diesmal einen Rückblick in seine Vergangenheit, die einige dann doch überraschen dürfte.


Ansonsten hieß es vorallem stark sein, denn der Kampf der beiden Parteien nahm in diesem Band neue Dimensionen an. Doch ob diese wirklich etwas bringen, wird erst der letzte Band zeigen, denn trotz gewissen Erfolgen, dürfte spätestens am Ende klar sein, dass Silvio noch so einige Asse im Ärmel hat.

Fazit:

Nun schon zum 3. Mal führte mich die Reihe in eine emotionale Achterbahnfahrt, die einen mit ihren Höhen und Tiefen ganz schön mitnimmt. Doch dies ist es Wert, denn der Kampf, welchen die Tiere im Schloss gerade kämpfen ist inhaltlich packend und auch optisch wieder eine Wucht.

Oh my gosh what a cliffhanger!!! And the last book hasn’t been translated to swedish yet! GAH!

Anyway, even if the earlier books were more… gory and bloody in a way, this one was even worse because here the animals are being tortured by president Silvio the bull and his dog lieutenants in a more mental capacity. It’s scary, the terror balance is horrible… But the resistance still stands strong!

What I love about this is that in the previous books the working animals were more individuals, they looked after themselves and their family, and didn't care that much for each other. But in this book, FINALLY, they have ended up a proper team after half of it. They are now proper FRIENDS and they back each other up!

Caesar, the gigolo rabbit was even downright touched that Miss B, the cat, said she trusted him more than anyone, something no one had ever said to him before! Very sweet and touching!

Another thing I really enjoyed is that we found out a bit about president Silvio the bull’s past! When he was a teen bull, you know? That time between calf and adult bull when they’re all gangly and stuff. (Go to a farm and you’ll see!) He is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE in the present time of the story, but we got a hint of what possibly could have driven him there. I don’t think we’ve gotten the full story, and I hope we will get the full story in the last graphic novel, fingers crossed.

The rat Azelar is showing up a bit more and helps Miss B and Caesar with the leadership, with planning and coming up with ideas so they’ll survive Silvio and his dogs and their…. well… torture.. Yeah, that happens too, even if we don’t see all of it.

So this series keeps becoming better and better. I’ll keep my eyes open for the last part, which I hope will go out on a high!!!!

POPKulturowy Kociołek:

Czynny bunt przeciwko bykowi Silvio i jego brutalnej władzy, niezbyt dobrze skończył się dla gęsi Marguerite. Wydarzenie to mocno zszokowało mieszkańców zamku, ale nie złamało ich oporu. Na nowego przywódcę ruchu oporu została mimowolnie mianowana biała kotka Miss B. Ma ona inny pomysł na to, jak poprawić los swoich podopiecznych. Walka, którą będą toczyć teraz zwierzęta, będzie mieć charakter psychologiczny. Cierpliwość i pokora jest kluczem do zwycięstwa. Trzeba bowiem znosić upokorzenia i brutalność, aby wyczekać najlepszy moment do obalenia króla.

Po raz trzeci scenarzysta serwuje tu czytelnikowi niezwykle angażujące i oddziaływujące na czytelnika treści, w których nie brakuje mocnych emocji. Xavier Dorison kontrastuje brutalność reżimu Silvio i siłę dobroci reprezentowaną przez Miss B. Kotka doskonale zdaje sobie jednak sprawę z tego, że bierny opór, może obrócić się przeciw niej. Część zwierząt nie potrafi bowiem opanować swojego gniewu i domaga się aktywnego działania. Sprawia to, że bohaterka musi bacznie obserwować zarówno wroga, jak i swoich sojuszników.

Zaprezentowane tu wydarzenia z licznymi zwrotami akcji doskonale prezentują, że brutalna rewolucja prowadzi nie tylko do przemocy, ale również do równie niebezpiecznego systemu, z którym się walczyło. Każda strona czy kadr ma tu więc jakieś głębsze znaczenie. To, co obserwujemy na kolejnych planszach, jest także ciekawym odzwierciedleniem otaczającej nas rzeczywistości, gdzie coraz częściej dochodzi do „nieposłuszeństwa obywatelskiego”....

Mit der Farm der Tiere hat der dritte Band von Schloss der Tiere nichts mehr zu tun. Es wird vielmehr gezeigt, wie die Wege einer friedlichen Revolution verlaufen können. Die Tiere lehnen sich weiter gegen die Vorherrschaft des Präsidenten auf und probieren mehrere Wege aus, wie sie sich der Unterdrückung entgegenstellen.

Für denjenigen, die nicht mehr so recht wissen, was in den beiden vorigen Bänden passierte, gibt es eine kurze Zusammenfassung der Ereignisse. Aber eine wirklich sehr kurze. Besser man blättert noch mal durch die Bücher, um sich zu erinnern, was passierte. Denn es geht direkt weiter mit Miss B.

Die Handlung springt mehr oder minder zwischen den beiden Parteien hin und her und konzentriert sich auf der einen Seite auf die Zweifel und den Mut, um sich gegen das Regime zu stellen und auf der anderen Seite auf dessen Gegenaktionen. Die Geschichte ist allerdings wieder recht schnell erzählt und wartet im nächsten Band auf das Finale. Dieser Band ist zudem bei weitem nicht mehr so brutal wie der zweite, was nur bedeuten kann, dass die friedliche Revolution hier und da einen Erfolg erzielen konnte.

Fazit
Die Optik ist weiterhin sehr gelungen, die Handlung gradlinig und frei von großen Überraschungen. Der Leser flutscht quasi durch das Buch und ist recht schnell am Ende. Zeit, um das Buch mehrfach zu lesen. Es wird noch einen finalen vierten Band geben, in dem es zur Entscheidung kommt, welche Seite am Ende die Hoheit haben wird.

Detta är det tredje albumet (av vad jag förstår ska bli fyra) i Xavier Dorison och Félix Deleps serie Djurslottet, som tar avstamp i George Orwells Animal Farm . Albumet tar vid efter händelserna i det föregående, Vinterns blommor , där fröken Bengalore inledde ett reellt motstånd mot tjuren Silvios regim. Men vissa framgångar till trots är kampen för frihet och jämlikhet svår och innehåller bakslag, som t.ex. det att djurens frustration ledde dem att bruka ett mått av våld vilket tycks ha spelat Silvio i "händerna".

Dorison och Delep fortsätter att utveckla intrigen och den värld de förlagt den i, och det är talande att albumet inleds med en tillbakablick till tiden innan Silvio var president, vilket ger en inblick dels i vad som format honom, och dels vilken regim hans styre kommit fram ut. Jag misstänker att detta kommer att bli avgörande i nästa album.

Och jag ser mycket fram emot att se hur Dorison och Delep knyter ihop säcken.

La «  Nuit des justes » est un fantastique titre pour décrire la noirceur d’une période d’oppression qui semble enfin attendre son aube lorsque la lutte pour une société juste regagne enfin du terrain.
Cette série reste un brasier pour alimenter l’âme et aider à trouver sa direction dans une période terrible.
J’ai été ébahi par la démonstration qui est faites qu’une révolution sans programme créé par les discussions et les réflexions des citoyens est voué à l’échec et à la réappropriation

Немає тут мені до чого прикопатися. Хіба що до неуважності редактора, але то таке…

Отже, бороться у громаді тварин продовжується, тепер вона більше схожа на політичну, і на 4-й том обіцяють вибори. А до цього буде зневіра Місс Б у власних силах, тяжкий вибір та провокації, пустий хлів та перспектива залишитися без консервів і шампанського, тиск на опонентів і проблеми у сім’ї. Все, як буває в реальному світі.

Це досі тримає!

(PT) Na quinta, os animais oprimidos continuam a resistência. Sílvio, o touro opressor, testa esmagá-los, mas descobre que eles são mais espertos que pensava. E quando descobre que eles querem o direito de voto para eles elegerem o seu líder, ele decide partir ao ataque, apesar de uma resistência mais feroz, que os leva perto da fome.

Зрозуміла чому цей роман мені так не сподобався - бо в моїй голові такі дії тварин не призвели б до такого результату. Це все так якось надумано виглядає і натягнуто. Прям зовсім не то.
Білла звісно той ще сірий кардинал. Ну і очікувати підвоха від президента це ж очевидно, чому тварини цього не бачать?

c'est peut-être le tome le plus fort des 3 pour l'instant, c'est politique, fort, résilient, l'écriture des personnages est parfaite

Un formidable 3ème tome! Je continue à vibrer avec Miss B. et ses amis de la basse-cour. Je suis tellement à fond dans l'histoire qu'il m'arrive de crier victoire ou d'exploser de colère, selon ce qui se passe. J'aime cette ambiance de révolte, cette entraide interraciale. La fin donne tellement envie de se plonger dans la suite qu'il me tarde de l'avoir entre les mains. Dommage, le 4ème et dernier Tome n'est pas encore annoncé, il faudra encore attendre ! C'est vraiment une belle série, je recommande chaudement !
