This text is in many places juvenile. It is trite, reductive, and shallow where it ought to be explanatory or inquisitive; and the broader experience of reading it is marred by clunky and ill-crafted prose. What information it does provide is excessively basic, and as a result is available from numerous other (often better written) sources. Examples are typically so blunt and reductive as to actively obscure meaning, and often tip over into misinterpretation through sheer lack of nuance. It contradicts itself fairly often even within the confines of a single interpretation and seems written by someone almost unfamiliar with the concept of subtext.
Disappointing material for even an introductory course.
