A Bride Idea

Rate this book
At first, Olivia passes over the ad incredulously. What kind of man advertises for a wife? But as time goes by and she can't find work, the ""job"" sounds more interesting. What better way to earn money for acting school? She can be Juliet to this Romeo, can't she? Advertising was not how he had dreamed of finding a wife, but Dr. Neil McCoy is desperate. He dreads to see what kind of woman will answer such an ad. Even if he finds someone acceptable, how can he make this work? When Juliet answers his ad, Neil is pleasantly surprised. But what will happen at the end of the year? Can they walk away from each other, or will they find that God has brought them together for a greater purpose than they'd foreseen?

A Bride Idea was such a cute story! I was captured by the opening paragraph, which was the ad:
"WANTED: A bride of convenience for one year. A strong, young woman to marry an established man. Care for and be a companion to an incapacitated woman (no nursing experience necessary). The position requires some cooking and management of other employees. Respond by mail to DNMC, General Delivery, Post Office, Sunrise, West Virginia.

So many thoughts were rolling through my mind. Why only one year? Who's the woman? What or who is DNMC? Just to name a few.

I was a little disappointed in both Olivia and her aunt in the beginning, but I won't say why as I don't want to spoil anything should you decide to give this book a try.

Some things were too simplistic, but with a story being under 200 pages I kind of expected they would be.

A enjoyable and quick read that was loads of fun! If you like historical romances, you should enjoy this book too.

This is an intriguing book. The story has some interesting twists but is not melodramatic. I appreciate it's simplicity yet it held my interest and came to a satisfying conclusion

I like the idea that Olivia is really close to her aunt Stella---and that Stella treated her like a daughter.
Olivia----with the help of Stella answers Doctor Neil McCory's ad for a bride for one year----under the name of Juliet Kevey.
But Neil and Olivia (or Juliet) get "married" anyway. There might be some interesting things happening in this story... but I can't give too much away, though.
