Very disapointing compared to the first book. I really didn't like the poly relationship, felt like "hey, why don't we all f* ck together?" I didn't feel genuine feelings here.
This was a rollercoaster of emotions. Be prepared to go way low before being able to come back out and find the light.
This was a tough read for me, personally. The trauma our FMC goes through is A LOT. At times I found it difficult to read AB’s had to step away. Make sure to read your trigger warnings and take care of yourself.
Overall it is a good story and I will always love our MMCs and FMC. I’m not sure if this is one I will come back to and read again, since the story is that traumatic for me. (Take the TW seriously). The first book is fantastic though so we’ll see if I end up doing a reread eventually.
So, this bad boy is not as good as the first one. They had her saying she forgave her dad, but she said she would never forgive him. I honestly think she shouldn't forgive him, but that's just my opinion. I just think that didn't fit her character very well. I mean she called him Daddy...that seems so far from her tough badass attitude.
She did all that training and never used her skills against her kidnapper. I mean she got her revenge, but not with fighting. I mean there wasn't even a fight with her boys and the kidnapper. How many times did they say he can't get to you, for her to be taken again.
Couldn't have asked for a more perfect ending to Freyas story. After the way the first book ended I was a little bit scared. Freya ended up proving to everyone AND herself that even though she's been through Hell and back shes always gonna land on her feet. She's not gonna let anyone or anything keep her down and she's just gonna come out stronger after everything is said and done.
I absolutely love how fierce she is. She's such a fighter and never gives up. I did like the guys a lot more I'm this one especially when it came to their relationship. All 3 guys finally had amazing chemistry and I feel like the connection was stronger in this one.
I liked how everything clicked into place for them I'm this one instead of the first book. Mostly just bc it wasn't rushed. They actually got to know each other and built that connection one on one instead of just being physical only or ignoring their feelings. They all had good chemistry with Freya too. These guys would do anything for her and also let her know that.
This one had me at the edge of my seat a bit bc I was just waiting for the shoe to drop. I was waiting for something to go wrong 😭. Definitely kept me entertained. I liked the friendships that Freya and the guys had. Those people didn't hesitate when asked for help. Definitely gonna go and read their books bc I NEED to know their story.
Another thing I liked about this book was how Freya handled her healing journey. She knew what would work for her and knew what she needed and didn't let anyone stop her from doing what she needed to do to heal from everything. There's not a right way to deal with trauma and she handled hers the best way she knew how.
I couldn't wait to read the conclusion of Freya’s story. I don't even know how many times I read the first book before this one came out. When I opened the book and read the content warning I hesitated a bit if I should read the book or not since it has some things that are usually triggering for me. But since this is Miranda who hasn’t disappointed me yet, I trusted her and dived into the book even if a bit wary. And I’m so glad I did! I would miss a lot if I didn’t. The conclusion of this story was so perfect for the characters. And Miranda surprised me yet again when some characters I would never ever expect to be there appeared and brought some lightness and funny moments with them. The journey and the characters development were exactly what I was hoping for. And the thing in the epilogue? I usually don’t care about it, but here? I didn’t mind it here, quite the opposite actually, I think they all deserve this. The only thing I had a bit of a problem with was that some of the characters developed a relationship when Freya was taken and wasn’t there. It didn’t feel right for me even though it was explained and everyone else was okay with that. But it’s just my personal problem. So this book is a 5* read for me and I will definitely read it again.
This book is the second book in a duet and it picks right up where the last book lift off. Soren, Wilder, and Griffin are going crazy. How did things go so wrong? They tried to keep her safe, but he still got to her. Now her parents, cook, and the detective are at the door needing to talk. Will the detective have information for them? Will they be able to find her quickly? Will she be ok when they find her?
This was a good conclusion to the story. So many different things happen and the storyline pulls you in while you are reading. I liked watching the dynamics of the group grow and change. We also meet know characters making the storyline even richer. I really enjoyed reading this duet.
Ms May did it again! Left us hanging in Finding the Darkness, but let the light shine in Finding the Light! Finding the Darkness we’re left with 'uh-oh where did she go', and in book 2 Finding the Light we finally get those answers we sought. Of course I was re-hooked into the world from reading Finding the Darkness. So many emotions of anguish, hurt, sadness, guilt, and some wallowing but mostly wanting out and away from the awful situation that Freya finds herself in yet again. Freya shows us what kind of person she is and doesn’t back down. It takes courage to go through what she did and even more courage to get away. Freya takes her experiences and tries to be a better person to everyone around her. I love that she wants to keep doing everything she did in book 1 to keep herself busy and not wallow in self pity.
This book ripped your heart out because of what Freya had to endure while she was held in captivity, also, because of what Wilder, Soren, and Griffen were going through, not being able to find her. It was great to see Soren call in backup and have a crossover from another series, the Wickedly books. We see Alessandra and her men come in and try to help find Freya. Freya is one strong woman. She did what she had to do, then found a way to get back to her men. I don't want to give too much away. Let's just say that she's not the same person she was in book one. This author writes in a way that pulls emotions out of you with this book. I cried for Freya; I cheered for her and hurt with her. I also laughed with her, too. You experience a wide range of emotions. I highly recommend this duet.
This is one of those books that I don't think I have enough words to express how amazing I think it is. This is the conclusion to Freya's story and again I found it compelling and I was completely hooked start to finish. Miranda May is an absolutely brilliant author that can make you feel the emotions of her characters and what a rollercoaster of emotions that was in this story. Freya has to go through so much to get her happy ending but there are happy moments and plenty if spice too. I love the growth her and her guys experience. This book has very dark moments so please check the trigger warnings and if nothing triggers you I highly recommend this duet.
Well if you've been waiting patiently for the rest of freyas story nows your chance! It is emotional and will have you bawling like never before. The things Freya and her men have gone through is not for the faint of heart. Freya is such a strong character and I loved the cameo of Alessandra and her men as well! The two worlds coming together was perfect and holy heck that spice was spicing. It was well worth the wait for the end of this beautifully written duet. The struggles Freya and her men face are ones so many others have dealt with and it was inspiring and eye opening to see how they handled them all with grace.
We start book two basically we’re book one leaves off. This story pulled me in quickly in book one and book two does the same. Freya has shown us in book one how strong and sassy she and in book two we continue to see that in her. We also see her going through so much in this one. There are some darker moments that absolutely pulls at your heartstrings. I loved we have some unexpected guests in this book. It was exciting to see them. The story is extremely well written and developed. Miranda May definitely has us on the edge of seat with this one. It ends beautifully and full of surprises. This was def a fantastic read that will not disappoint.
Fighting Back Duet the second book Finding the Light. The only reason this book is getting 4 stars instead of 5 is because it's a little slower then the first. It picks up with the cliffhanger from the first book and takes you on a wild ride through the trauma and torture of the FMC. Then slows down s bit in the middle. But picks up after a couple chapters. The author writing brings you into the characters lives and maintaining hope for the FMC and her three partners. This book also has a few twist and turns. And if you want a happy ending you will get it. You definitely need to read the first book to understand the second. If you get a chance I highly recommend this duet.
With everything that Freya has been through and everything she has endured, this book shows that there is always a light. A light to guide, to follow, to chase but no matter what there is a light inside you to hold on to. Miranda May has written Book 2 of the Fighting Back Duet with depth, determination and a desire to survive. This story grabs you by the heart and encompasses you in such emotion, you feel everything the characters are feeling, you become a part of the story. I loved the writing and the characters, this Duet is an absolute must.
Wow. This story. All that Freya and her men went through in book one and even more in this book had me tearing up more than once. My heart was heavy. Our MFC is so strong even as she feels ready to quit. And her men are strong for each other when they need. Characters are richly described and scenes are too so that you feel a part of the scenes. Lots of triggers - read the warnings. Deep breath and read. ( This is from my review of book one and applies here also: Miranda does an amazing job in her approach to mental health, how the mind deals with trauma and opportunities to get help.)
I was so excited when this book came out! I started it as soon as I was able to. I went through so many emotions reading this beauty. My heart was ripped out and slowly mended back together.
The FMC had been through so much, I honestly wanted to wrap her in a bubble and just keep her close. The MMCs went through a lot too, each having their own struggles on everything that happened.
Overall, I loved this story. My emotions were so all over the place but it was so worth the read! Highly recommend this duet! Very good series!
It was ok. I didn’t love it or hate it. There were pages I found myself skimming through because I just couldn’t get fully into it. The entire book felt like there was something missing and I couldn’t put my finger on it. The spice between Freya and the guys was good, but the spice between just the guys was hot. I loved that ALL the guys were with each other and there were sex scenes with just the guys, no Freya. I tried really hard to love this duet, but unfortunately I couldn’t get into it like I wanted.
This book takes us to some very dark places, however, it also has a satisfying conclusion, so those dark places make the ending so much better. Seeing some familiar faces was wonderful, and they were certainly handy when it came to clean up time. Freya is an incredibly strong woman, who makes it easy to relate to her. Her men are flawed and perfect at the same time. I was sad to finish this story but i really loved seeing Freya overcome.
This book!!!!! Just when I thought I was prepared for the rest of Freya's story, I come to find I was woefully unprepared.
This book deals with some strong things and they are handled with grace and poise. Miranda May does a wonderful and respectful job of telling a story of such devastation, showing that hopelessness and hope can exist at the same time.
I laughed, I cried, I yelled and my heart feels a little more whole at the end.
Finding The Light, book 2 of the Fighting Back Duet by Miranda May @mirandamatauthor. Please read the trigger warnings!
I loved this conclusion about Freya, Wilder, Soren, Griffin! & Tropes: Contemporary, Why Choose, MM, Mental Health Representation, Adultnapping, I would call it Grape (not by the harem members), MMA, Childhood friends to lovers, brother’s best friend, & Found Family!
After the cliffhanger we were left with in the first book, this was a long awaited conclusion. It did not disappoint. Freya and her guys go through very tough times but in the end Freya gets all the justice. Let’s not forget about the spice because holy hotness!! We also get an epilogue that sets up a future story. So good all around!
Oh wow! This one just took me by surprise in the best way possible. The first book was already amazing but the ending here? Fantastic! I can't even do it justice to express it. If you read it you'll understand what I'm saying. I love the character development and growth. I adore Freya as a strong leading lady and Wilder, Soren, and Griffen. They go through so much and come out even better.
Griffin, Soren, Wilder, and Freya go through so much together. Trying to get over loss, trying to stay safe from Psycho people. This was a great book. The Duet was steamy, sad, funny, great characters, and a great read. I hope that one day we maybe get an extended epilogue to see how they are handling the new path this out them on. So very good.
The conclusion to Freya’s story was definitely a heavy one! Lots of triggers, so be sure to check them first. I love her spirit and how she never lost it, despite what she went through. Spicy and emotional. They all definitely deserve their happy ending!
Miranda! This was such a great book! Watching Freya come back from all she experienced was an experience for me. I applaud you for the way you wrote about overcoming crippling grief. This book was beautiful. A great ending to the duet.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Perfect ending for Freya's story! There is a lot of trauma that happens in this book so make sure to check the TWs! Freya is absolutely resilient and so strong! Of course it helps having her men in her corner! Loved seeing some old characters as well! Another amazing job by Miranda May!!
"Finding the Light" shows us how much strength Freya has. The book takes you on the emotional roll coaster and during most of runtime in the book, you experience all the emotion the characters experience. "Finding the Light" is a beautiful book with a captivating story.
This book was just wow, I absolutely loved it even though I wanted to scream and yelling at what she went through. But she is a fighter and did what she needed too.
Freya's story concludes with her going through a traumatic ordeal at the hands of her captor. An incredibly emotional read, brilliantly written, as Freya comes through with the help of her guys and Alessandre and her men. A spicy read with some dark moments.
This was an amazing ending to Freya's story. I loved how her story was wrapped up. The development of both characters, relaoonship and plot was spot on. I loved the dynamics and see them evolve with Freya and her guys. I highly recommend this duet.
I couldn’t wait for book 2! Cause your girl needed answers. It was such an amazing time jumping back into our FMCs story. Her courage, resilience and determination was inspiring! Of course she had the help of her men along the way.
