Can you meet your best friend in a broken elevator?
Florence, an aspiring wedding planner in the City of Love, is on a mission to prove herself capable of handling events on her own. Recently relocating to Paris, she takes a dream job working for one of the most prestigious event planners in the city, with a little help from a connection, and starts to work her way up, one minor calamity after another.
With new roommates, a new apartment, and her amazing new job, Florence is putting much of her past behind her, and taking on challenges she never thought possible. Like trying not to have a panic attack in a broken elevator with an incredibly good-looking neighbor.
When Florence finds herself trapped with Corentin, she’s sure this is how it all ends for her. Dying of either an asthma attack, or embarrassment, in a busted lift in her new apartment, but in a strange and unlikely turn of events, the two become great friends. Such great friends that everyone except the two of them can see they’re meant for each other.
Making matters even more complicated, they share a “friendly kiss” which stirs up feelings she’s been ignoring inside. In order to see the man who’s perfect for her, Florence must confront her past, letting go of her insecurities, and trusting in the friendship they share. But can she step over the line of friendship into something more?
Margaux Rosewood lives in Paris. Working in the medical field, between two patients, she manages to craft the stories of characters that she hopes will resonate with readers. Passionate about travel, anime, films, and series, she wrote her first novel at the age of twelve. However, it wasn't until 2020 that she decided to give herself a chance in writing. In 2023, she revisited the novel she had written as a child to self-publish it in the spring of 2024.
I’m so sad I didn’t enjoy this as much as I wanted to! There was these little things that bugged my to my core and I, sadly, didn’t really connect with the characters, which I’ve said before plays a huge part in how much I enjoy a book:(
I do recognize myself a lot in Florence about the anxiety part, but it just was in the extent where it felt like her whole personality was mostly anxiety, I just really wish to have gotten to know her outside of the anxiety! I really liked that she stood up to Corentin’s dad tho!
As for Corentin, I don’t really feel like I got to know him either! He was a redhead and a lawyer with daddy issues, but what else?
What bugged me the most was that Corentin and Florence acted like a couple throughout the whole book, but kept saying they were “just friends” even tho it was obvious they weren’t! There was also some parts that felt very jumpy and I felt confused about as well as being a bit sudden and dramatic at points!
As for the side characters, I really loved Florence’s friends Manille and especially Charlotte! I really loved the vibe and aesthetic!<33 Ooo I also loved that some of my favorite movies was mentioned!
I really think the author hold great potential and can improve a lot and I’m excited to read her upcoming work, especially Charlotte’s book!
I have more to share but that includes SPOILERS, so if you haven’t read yet, stop here!! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . As I said SPOILERS AHEAD, STOP IF YOU HAVEN’T READ YET!!
Okay, you have been warned so here are the spoilers!
To give you a view of why I thought it was a bit sudden and dramatic at points- there was one moment where the two of them started (out of nowhere) to fight about something ridiculous (both of them was very immature in this moment) I can’t even remember and then all of the sudden it was over! I also found it a bit weird that Florence was all “Corentin we should sleep together to get this tension off” right after! It was also very sudden when Lola passed, like I know that pugs are like gene modified and don’t have the best chances at having a long life, but it just came so sudden and turned into a very dramatic event!
I really loved that the epilogue was from Corentin’s POV! I also am a bit upset with him that he didn’t propose earlier!! Like dude, why did you wait five (six since meeting) years??
I absolutely love this author. Do not get me wrong or be deterred by this rating. I ranked it 3 stars because of how capable I know Rosewood’s writing can be. I believe that the chemistry between Florence and Corentin is strong, but I needed it to be a lot stronger. I think their initial meet cute in the elevator is one of my favorite elevator scenes I’ve ever read. I think that the build up of the budding romance was slow at first, but I got a bit confused with the time gap jumps. I understood it was to reveal bits and pieces at the right moment of their relationship and what it is now. I do wish this book had been a dual pov because I genuinely wanted to know what was going on in Corentin’s brain. Like certain scenes I wish we saw through his perspective. I certainly love how Florence was able to bring Corentin out of his comfort zone and be a tiny bit more outgoing as it was even said through Manille and Charlotte how he was aloof and kept to himself. Until he met Florence. Something I truly love in Romance books is when the characters meet for the first time or when they finally get together for the first time. This was something I held highly in each respective moment in Spring Kisses. Although I wish the spicy scenes were developed in greater detail I understand that Rosewood has much to grow and I am willing to wait for her to grow because I believe in her. I think that Florence is a great character I think her inner struggles with her father were great yet held at a surface level. I do not believe I truly understood how deep her struggles truly went. However, I am comparing this to the next book so perhaps I am being unfair. I think Florence had a self discovery journey in which she evolved and overcame her struggles with execution and precision. I believe that Florence had held herself back at first in which she was reluctant and wished to rid Corentin of the burden she felt herself to be but once she truly let it sink in and understood that the people around her didn’t love her because they had to but because they wanted to that she was deeply and incandescently loved. But, I believe she had deep routed trust issues that could clearly be reflective in her current present from not only her father but earlier stages in her life. I still have a small bit left of the book, however I feel like I have a pretty good grasp of the book.

𝗠𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: WHAT A CUTE AND WHOLESOME BOOK!!! But also had some depth to it that I was not prepared for 🥹 It was a little long but worth it for their journey from friends to lovers. All throughout the book I wished I could reach inside this book and hug Florence. She was such a sweet soul but had some broken parts that I was so happy to read got mended and put back together. She struggled a lotttt through the book but her growth was so worth it. The way she got the chance to stand up for herself…go queen 👏🏽 And then we have Corentin…what I would do to find a man like him 😍 The way he was with Florence, what he does for her, and the way he speaks to her (sometimes)…SWOONNNN 😩
