Book #5 completed from Great Uncle Bob’s library. Judging by the underlining, Bob seems to have spent most of his time in the section on the mind–body problem. This book is a brief introduction to the major sub-disciplines of philosophy, including ethics, metaphysics, and philosophy of science.
Unfortunately, the experience was frustrating almost from the start. The text suffers from noticeable typos and sloppy editing, including an example that confuses nuclear fusion with nuclear fission. More troubling, the philosophy of science chapter contains what struck me as a clear misreading of Karl Popper. By the end of the book, these errors left me skeptical of much of what the author was saying.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this text.
