I remembered this book ever since it was read to me in primary or elementary school. I had long forgotten the title, and I therefore spent an hour searching for an image of it before I found its entry on Amazon.com. Of all the picture books I read or had read to me as a child, I adore my memories of this one the most. It is truly, I believe, a beautiful and timeless work.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Even though it was about kites, it was really about growing up and pulling away from parents. Kites are what keep the son and father together, especially when they are miles apart. It is always good to keep something from your childhood with you forever, like the son did with kites.

A beautiful story of a father's efforts to share his feelings with his son and to ultimately, let his son go. Really gorgeous illustrations!
