My Road Beyond The Codependent Divorce

Rate this book
Ending a toxic relationship can sometimes make us feel like we are going insane. Because we are so enmeshed with the other person, we feel nothing but fear, doubt, confusion, shame and even guilt when we consider terminating the relationship. Although we can hear a little voice inside our heads urging us to move forward, all too often our worries overwhelm us and cause us to stay stuck. We no longer know whose thoughts or feelings are in our heads. All we can feel is fear.

If you are contemplating ending a relationship you know in your heart must end, but are struggling with crippling negative emotions, Lisa’s story is just the right dose of inspiration you will need as you begin facing your new roads ahead. No stranger to heartache, Lisa bravely ended her dysfunctional marriage and took her three small children with her. With nothing to cling to but hope, Lisa courageously learned to navigate her way through unknown terrains, and eventually found the will to even love again.

I admire Lisa Romano very much. She is fantastic at comforting thousands, especially through her straight-talk videos, but this book felt rushed and the poor editing was disconcerting (never was the correct so-&-so and ME used). The metaphors were also at times pretty strange ("swallowing staples"? "inhaling fiberglass"?).
Saying all that, I appreciate Lisa writing it so I could read it! But Lisa, get a new editor!

I enjoyed reading this second instalment of Lisa’s life story. It was very relatable and also inspiring, as I remain pregnant with my first book regarding my own life journey. The editing of this book let it down, as well as what appears to be a slapped together and rushed conclusion. Tweaking those things would polish it, but worth a read. Parts of her story brought me to tears.

Lisa Romano relates how codependency in a person can affect a marriage. Both partners need to be willing to work through this codependency for the relationship to work. She relates her struggles and how after her divorce she was able to work through codependency issues to help her children and find love. This book was insightful and offers encouragement on living one’s true self.

Inspiring and honest

I love her books and her honesty in sharing her story. An inspiration for all who are codependent and healing from those wounds.
