Love on the Ice #4

Heated Rivalry: MM Hockey Romance

Rate this book
Skylar Day:
With graduation looming, I'm forced to take an extra credit athletic course in hockey—a sport I despise. The ice, the cold, and the game itself are everything I detest. But when a bone-shattering shove on the ice threatens to fracture my knee, I must confront my fears and learn to play.
In a shocking revelation, I discovered that it was Devon who had shoved me hard on the ice.
Devon Black.
A demon. A force to be reckoned with, notorious for his bullying tactics on and off the ice. I hate Devon with every fiber of my being, yet beneath the surface of my hatred lies an undeniable and confusing attraction. It's as if the very essence of him is both repulsive and magnetic, drawing me in against my will. Graduation approaches and the choices we make will determine our fate—whether bitter separation or a love that transcends the icy battleground we call home. Can Devon and I find a way to bridge the divide, or will life's forces tear us apart?

Warning: this is a high-heat M/M hockey romance, filled with explicit language and some violence. Please be advised.

What a book. This is clearly written by AI or a completely incompetent person. Read this if you want a good laugh but do not pay money for it!

Names constantly change, it’s badly written and there isn’t a plot to speak of. Sentences regularly don’t make sense. Sometimes sentences are duplicated and there are numerous printing errors and typos.

At least the characters practise safe sex!

No spoilers as such but comments may give the story away

After enjoying the last 2 in the series I was disappointed with this one and very nearly gave up with it.

Skyler is not a nice person and I know terrible things happened to him but it was all resolved quickly in the last 30 pages or so.

Not sure for the character names were changed before publishing but random names kept appearing. Shiloh and Damien. Can only assume these are skyler and Devon. There was also another name for Devon’s daughter.

I may not be an expert in hockey but as far as I’m aware they don’t have a half time. But 3 periods.

I’ve read a lot worse but just feel flat as I was looking forward to this after the last couple.

Just my opinion. You may read it and love it like I have with others.

Epic comeback from my reading slump. The show is better but needed a fix when I left the cottage 😭

I read the wrong book.

I want to say that the book is not terrible, but oh man, do I feel scammed.

The cover is AI generated and sloppy. The story has some juicy twists and heated scenes that keep it interesting. The story does feel empty. Lots of relationships, characters and worldbuilding are left unexplored. I fear the writer has used AI as well to help write the book.

Naming your book after a popular title with a similar man-on-man romance hockey theme is just a scam.

For a non-native English speaker, the book was easy to read: some cheap entertainment for when you don't want to think. I don't regret reading it. I actually thought the main characters were interesting. But I would not recommend the book.

Authors should absolutely name their books whatever they like and there's certainly no problem with multiple books having the same title.

However.

Writing a MM ice hockey romance and titling it "Heated Rivalry" just feels... really inappropriate and disrespectful. If this book had had a different title, I might have considered reading it. As it is... no thanks.
