OK, this novella was obviously written for little girls and not grown women. I mean, good grief, some of the words were just silly: so many “Oh shoot” and “dang” and “Dangit.” And let’s not talk about the hero’s big bushy beard or him going two weeks without a bath or washing up, and Rose sitting cuddled up beside him! Ewww.
I did like Rose and I thought Barrett was a really nice name for the hero but that name was used only a few times, maybe 6 or 8, and the rest of the time he was called Bear, about 160+ times. I just hate when an author gives someone a name then refuses to use it.
I’m glad this wasn’t any longer than it was, that’s all I can say.
When Bear was wounded and found his way to Rose’s barn she took care of him and kept his presence secret, all the while thinking he was an outlaw when he was really a U.S. Marshall.
This had so many possibilities but it turned out to be a kid’s book and I don’t read books written for kids.
